  • Having shown so many videos about charging, I felt it was high time to make one showing just how much fun an EV is! It's not all range, chargers and consumption believe me. This was a drive I took to visit my parents, and it was such a nice road that I stuck the car in Dynamic mode and had some fun.
    Apart from the idiot who entered the roundabout without looking, it was a great drive!

    Great video, thanks!
    I've had my I-Pace since the end of March and have already done 14,000 miles. I do 2-3 300+ mile trips a month and haven't had any issues charging. With Ionity @ Milton Keynes and now at Gretna; it's now even easier to move around the UK mainland.
    I'm in Amsterdam in November and plan to sign up to Fastned for a month to cover the miles! Still not happy with EU charging costs though...

      Thanks Phil! Yeah so far (touch wood) my only Charging problem has been those old style eVolts. It’s just a pity they’re so prevalent on my road trips but outside of them I have had zero major problems in all honesty.
      For this video it was nice to get away from Charging details and just have some fun!
      Next week is Ecotricity...... Charging again! 🤪

    Another great video. I know how quick the ipace is and I found sitting here watching your video was quite scary as I wasn’t on control. I wonder what it’s like being in a car when a very quiet ipace shoots past you. It happened to me on a straight road and a fighter plane came from behind, it frightened the hell out of me.

      Thanks! Was just one of those days. Quiet roads, a charged up iPace and nice weather. Dynamic mode on and off we go! I just wanted to show that EVs aren’t all “kWh per 100 miles” and “Cd of 0.29” etc. Glad you enjoyed. 👍🏻

    All EV's are fun, the more you spend the more fun, my Leaf (even) is fun. My daily drive is about 30-40 miles , full tank every morning ! Imagine having to waste the time going to a petrol station, I don't have the time....too busy driving at 300 mpg equivalent!

    • @AbuDhabiDude
      @AbuDhabiDude  4 года назад

      I certainly don’t miss petrol stations!

    I like the synthetic engine noise, my wife prefers it off. Hence, always on when I'm on my own, always off when we're both in the car!

      Haha I feel your pain. Likewise this video had to be recorded on a day I was alone in the car!!

    Only problem I can see is if you are changing the IPace every day it can cost more then the petrol or diesel cars because it’s not got a long enough range has a normal petrol car or diesel I have got a IPace s and with in one week I have spent over £30 charging it up where has my diesel Range Rover fill that tank up no more stations for over three weeks or more ,iam on the fence at the moment with the IPace to my Range Rover …maybe it will be a lot better when I finally get my pod point charger installed which fingers crossed will be next week

    Hi
    Have you had any errors of malfunctions on the i pace up to now?

    • @AbuDhabiDude
      @AbuDhabiDude  4 года назад +1

      Hi there. I had one failure in February caused by a failure of the Park module which rendered the car undrivable. Had to be towed to Jag for replacement. I also had a failure of the left bank of buttons (the ones for switching to dynamic/eco mode and raising and lowering the suspension) meaning it was stuck in Comfort mode and normal ride height. But that was a one day repair with no major issues (car remained drivable). Other than that the car has been great.

    At small roads, like at my home, I drive with “emergency lane keeping” off, in dynamic mode. The fake sounds is sometimes on and sometimes off.

    • @AbuDhabiDude
      @AbuDhabiDude  4 года назад +1

      The sound was kind of fun with this drive. Wouldn’t use it regularly but I can now imagine using it sometimes.

      Abu Dhabi Dude Did you have to brake hard to avoid a crash?

    • @AbuDhabiDude
      @AbuDhabiDude  4 года назад +1

      I had to brake quite hard but it wasn’t a life or death moment! If I hadn’t braked it would have been a crash, but I did and it wasn’t. Took everything I had not to swear because I knew I was doing a video! 🤣

      Hi mate ,was at the dealers yesterday looking at an hse model .
      Is it better to buy new or an older model ?
      Been looking at a few first edition models to .

    • @AbuDhabiDude
      @AbuDhabiDude  4 года назад

      To be honest, it’s really down to personal choice and budget. An older one will probably save you a lot of money and thanks to the updates it will be exactly as good as a current new one. Obviously you’ll have a bit of battery degradation that you won’t have in a new one, but my experience is it’s not a noticeable effect after a year. Basically it’s down to how much a new car matters to you. You’ll be the only person to own it etc, but with EVs that probably matters a bit less as there is very little maintenance etc. This means that you’re less likely to be “buying someone else’s problems” as the old saying goes. I’m very happy with my new one but there was no alternative at the time. Now, it would depend on price and whether o could find the exact car I wanted. 6 month old iPace will likely be as good as a brand new one to all intents and purposes, but as I say personal choice plays a big part in the decision.

    Thanks for sharing another side to the i-pace with a nice video.
    Personally I tend not to use it but another side of me thinks it is good to have it just incase I want to drive free and easy
    over the country roads letting my hair down a little.
    May make me feel 21 again.
    To tell you the truth I don't know about the i-pace emulating the revs of a racing car but it's performance in my opinion is not that
    far off.
    Thanks again.

      Thanks for that. I just felt it was time to show the fun side of EVs instead of focussing too much on the technical stuff! The warp drive sound is fun but I wouldn’t use it too often.

    I wish roads round here (Leicestershire) were that clear!
    Was the car in full dynamic mode or did you just have the dynamic sound turned on? I also do not normally use the sound but thought you were right to use it in this case.
    Great video as usual thanks.

    • @AbuDhabiDude
      @AbuDhabiDude  4 года назад

      Thanks! Yeah the roads around me are really good and the odd bit of traffic just gives you an excuse to overtake! 😎
      The car was in full dynamic mode, not just dynamic sound. I never use the sound either but it just seemed a good idea for this one. Thanks for watching and for the feedback.

    I'm being picky. Your front and rear cameras seem out of sync in this video. Your front camera shows you passing something, but rear camera shows you already passed a second or so earlier.

    • @AbuDhabiDude
      @AbuDhabiDude  4 года назад

      Hi. Thanks for that. Yes this sometimes happens with the way the dashcam records the clips. If you watch closely you’ll see that at the start of the segment it is out of sync but by the end of the segment they are perfectly in sync (or the other way around). I’ll see if I can do something to sort that by altering the speed to get them to match better but that may make it juddery. I was hoping it wasn’t too noticeable!
      Thanks for the feedback. 👍🏻
