- I demonstrate and review the slick new iRig MicLav lavalier microphone that's compatible with both iPhone and Android, talking about why it's great for vloggers and videographers who travel or head outdoors. Includes sample footage so you can hear its quality too, from IK Multimedia. Review by Dave Taylor of www.AskDaveTayl...
I would suspect (without having done any research) that it's pronounced "mike-lahv," or "mike-lav." Just my two cents. Like the review.
it sounds great
Great video! It helped me!
I really enjoyed singing from Ez Voice because I love singing.
Nice review!
Im looking for a smartphone microphone that will cancel intense/heavy background noise
Not sure that exists. Can you just get into a quieter environment? Or maybe a headset mic?
The iRig MicLav is omni directional, which means it records sound from all directions. I don't know if there is a uni directional lavaliere mic, but that would help, as it only records audio from one direction.
When using headphones with iRig, are you forced to listen to your recorder voice, or can you just use them simply as regular headphones?
Hi
Thank you.
Which mike were you using in the beginning of your video when u were explaining? It was very good!
I haven't ever used any mike with my xioami phone and am planning on making a puppet show for my grandchildren. That's why I need the clear audio. I think the irig lav is a good option for this. Although I'm not quite sure how to film it i.e. Should I put the phone on the tripod and capture the movie of the puppets (but how will i make sure that the puppets are in the center of the screen etc?) Do most ppl put it on selfy mode which in my phone is not as "sharp"?
Thank you for ur patience!!
That was a mic hooked up directly to my Sony camera, not the phone. Different tech. The mic itself I believe was this one that I also reviewed: ruclips.net/video/y53wcfF0rRQ/видео.html
So it's possible to do live streaming with this mic and I can listen on earphones at the sametime
Since it comes with two mics can this be used for binaural recordings? So if I place one on left ear and one on right will it sound like a 360 recording?
Is the $49 iRig Mic Lav better than the $18 boyo by-m1? is it worth paying over double the price?
Hi Dave, great video! can you use in your computer?
I haven't tried that so I can't answer. Check with the manufacturer?
Hi, i would like to know witch microphone you used for this vidéo ?
I use a budget Audio-Technica and love it. Here's the latest version of it on Amazon: amzn.to/2J5nqPw
Yeah I preferred your original microphone too 😊 is there any way of connecting the Audio Technica to an iPhone?
Can you plug this microphone directly to your PC and use it while making screen capture video?
That's not its intended purpose. Without an adapter my guess is that it will not work correctly, but you can double-check with iRig for the final word!
How long is the cord?
Would it work if we plug a guitar cable into the extra socket?
Don't really know. I'd check with the manufacturer to ensure it does what you want pre-purchase!
Interesting that you say "mike" when referring to microphone and "mick" when saying the product name.
Never really thought about it. Are you suggesting that the product is the "mike-lav"?
does this work with a laptop
Don't know. Modern laptops have audio & mic, though, so it might work! I'd recommend testing with your specific device.
What app do you record with the irig mic lav?
Was just using the built in video recorder in Camera...
Hi Dave! Can i record a video and record with the mic at the same time?
I don't know what you're asking, Alekos...
Can i record a video on my iPhone and at the same time record the sound from the mic?...Or i need to be recording a video on my iPhone and have another iPhone shooting the video...Its probably a stupid question! I am asking this because i saw online that you need to download an app or something in order to record with the irig mic! Thanks!
Ah, got it. Yes, you can use this as the audio source for a video you're recording on your iPhone.
Can this be used with dslr as well? How effective is it?
+James Williams Don't know. I'd check with iRig and/or your camera manufacturer before you buy one, James.
I hooked mine up, and I may as well have plugged a jelly bean into my phone.
No matter where I hook it up, the device does not register a mic being plugged in. Sucks.
Guessing its a defect, unless you’re the only one who got one that works!
I somehow don't think I got the one working unit. Please reach out to their customer service team and see what you can figure out. And let us know what resolution you reach!
I did some digging, and saw a customer complaint about having to constantly replace the unit due to a wire disconnecting and not being able to re-solder it.
Popped off my pop screen (haha)
Unscrewed the top, and there it was, both wires completely disconnected, and the wiring frayed.
This is a best buy issue. I took a closer look at the packaging and saw it was likely returned to best buy and placed back on the shelf.
I ended up using a 3.5 cable with a built in mic instead for the shoot.
Glad you had a solution and yeah, stores like Best Buy are somewhat notorious for putting things back on the shelf "as new" without testing to confirm that they really are still 100%
Don't buy. It sucks on android and the clamp holding it broke the first day.
Did you contact the company? What did they say?
Why did you say "Meek lav" it says Mic...oh lord, i just stop watching...
Glad that all the other videos you watch on RUclips are so perfect. (rolls eyes)
