    Also Jackals and Grunts have this HUGE rivalry going on. The Grunt Rebellion that Mercy mentioned in Halo 2 happened after some Jackals tainted some of the Grunt's recreational narcotics that go in their tank's methane supply with something that causes sterility and lack of virility in males in retaliation for Grunt numbers putting a dent in the Jackal population. The Hierarchs refused to sort the matter out and the Grunt Rebellion kicked off. It took the efforts of an Arbiter to bring order.

    Epic...just epic...Good to see how 343 Guilty Spark met Sesa 'Refumee..
    And so...The gap between Halo CE and Halo 2 has been sealed.

    yes, he discovered a pelican with sgt johnson, an odst, a ONI agent and a pilot, whom together they captured a covenant flagship (the ascendant justice) and later it was coupled with a half destroyed UNSC destroyer (Gettysburg) found in umongst the space junk left at reach - the ascendant justice was then used to help destroy the covenant armada by luring the covenant into a trap , and so the Chief ended up back on earth onboard the Gettysberg - it's all in the novel "Halo: First Strike"

    These are the group known by the Covenant as "The Heretics", these guys were sent to the gas mine on Threshold to investigate and retrieve artifacts, and on their search they met 343 Guilty Spark, who told them the true reason for the halo rings. They then separated from the Covenant and established there. In Halo 2, the Arbiter (Thel Vadam') was sent there to eliminate their leader. Jackals appear in this cut scene but not in the game, that's why I was confused.

    @CReACox Grunts are on the bottom of the Covenant food chain, and the Jackals are only slightly above them. They resent this placement and take that anger out on the only ones they can get away with abusing, the Grunts.

  • @nutyyyy
    @nutyyyy 12 лет назад

    He might have been Referring to the Jackals on the Rubble, if in that case your right they didn't fight together but they did ally with the humans for a time, however this was a ploy to find out the location of Earth. Jackals, however have no real obligation to the Covenant beside commercial gain and obviously safety.

    you can see the assault carrier master chief and a few survivors borded or hijacked from the book Halo: First Strike
    they used that ship to go back to reach to look for survivors (they found halsey and a few spartans)

    Depends if you are talking about arbiter post/pre-covenant or during; arbiter was never a holy rank it was originally like being emperor of feudal japan. During covenant it was not a good holy rank they still told Thel'Vadam he could never achieve the great journey after the shame, it was only a means of self redemption that entailed suicide missions.

  • @TeeRexatron
    @TeeRexatron 12 лет назад

    Arbiter is a type of rank where the elites go on deadly missions and where that armour. The armour itself isn't called Arbiter.

  • @28crazyguy

    because there was a fight between the grunts and jackals so now they hate each other

  • @Waxer3929
    @Waxer3929 12 лет назад

    I think it's because based on the hints from the many terminals in Halo Anniversary, 343 hints at the Didact which is a force considered to be far worse then the flood. While I would like to think they are Prophet Loyalists, it can be inferred that from Halo 3 all the Sanghelli [Elites] were against the Prophets when the Brutes were put in power.
    Regardless, 343 Studios did say they "will be the least of our problems", so it almost doesn't matter in the end.
    I just want to see some Forerunners.

  • @raptofilms
    @raptofilms 11 лет назад

    So that explains why there's no Jackals on the gas mine. The Elites must've thrown them out of the mine.

  • @umbrellashotgunman
    @umbrellashotgunman 12 лет назад

    @amartinez97 The big thing is that the Grunts probably outnumber every other race combined; also, the only reason there are even Grunts serving on Spec-Ops teams was because of a number of Grunts during the Grunt Rebellion had impressed the Elites with their combat ability.

  • @DiggyGrams
    @DiggyGrams 12 лет назад

  • @Flufux
    @Flufux 12 лет назад

    because first of, the jackals hate grunts, secondly the jackals are a bunch of space pirates that are only hired thugs for the covenant, these probably wanted to raid the mine of valuables.

    @123asd1 A Halo 2 remake would be awesome! And it should be a Directors Cut. However, the possibility of that ever happening is low... But if we ask 343 Industries long enough and if we are of great number, it could happen. Afterall, 343i said that CEAhappened because of the fans' requests. Let us band together and ask 343 Industries to make the Halo 2 Anniversary Directors Cut!!!

    you all want to know something screwed... humanity was actually around when the forerunners were, and were just as advanced as them.. they were also tier 1 tech lvl, and the two got into a war before the flood outbreak, the forerunners won.. but only cause humanity them was like it was now, they relied to much on brute strength.

    Read Glasslands, it does a very good job of explaining the instabilities in the Sangheili ranks, how many Elites are against the Arbiter. Some still hold the belief that the Forerunners are gods. You weren't too far off.
    And I doubt that these followers knew the Didact was on Requiem, I also doubt that the Didact is as bad as the leak suggests, he's just pissed.

    @ZHREDERR Nope, he is Sesa 'Refumee. The leader of the Halo 2 heretics. There have been heretics before the events of Halo 2, so those who say "Leader of the Heretics" aren't being specific...One of the Heretics was the Arbiter from "The Duel". And the Heretics of Halo 3 are all of the Elites. The humans have ALWAYS been heretics right from the start...

  • @Gag1800
    @Gag1800 12 лет назад

    To those who think that the Elite was The Arbiter are extremely wrong. This Elite is the one who becomes the Heretic Leader (Sesa Refumee) whom the actual Arbiter (Thel Vadamee) kills in the gas mine.
    The Arbiter in Halo Wars was the current Arbiters predecessor, Ripa Moramee. The position of The Arbiter is one given to Elites who have disgraced themselves and gives them a chance to regain their honor in death from dangerous and often suicidal missions.

  • @Waxer3929

    I'm fairly certain it may be a bit more complex then that.
    There may even be a whole sect of the Covenant we are unaware about, not necessarily heretics or loyalists, but just like in religion how there are multiple followings and sects of a similar belief [Catholic, Lutheran, etc] but they are ultimately different and in the end can generate hostility. So who knows, maybe there's a whole branch of the Covenant which follows a similar idea but is seeking the Didact thinking it is their god?

    That's the Ascending Justice which Chief, Johnson, Cortana, and the rest of the survivors manage to highjack, if you read Halo: First Strike (aka the sequel to Combat Evolved).
