Your videos are so beautiful. Your enthusiasm for the Hebrides is infectious. I have visited some of the isles but only scratched the surface of them, I need to go back.
I did enjoy, thank you too. It was lovely to be back in Berneray albeit virtually. West Beach made me smile as I remember us trying to climb up the sand dunes, two steps up and slipping one back and laughing so much it became impossible and walking along the beach to where it was less steep.
Exactly what was happening to me, haha so funny. Nice to reminisce, glad it brought you back to that happy time. Thank you for watching and sharing this with me. Ix
Thanks for the mention Iona! The greatest showman story indeed was based on the P T Barnum circus. In 1849 Angus went to work for them and appeared next to General Tom Thumb :) Such an amazing story! ❤
Brilliant video of stunning Berneray, that guy MacAskill would've made a great clan chief, what a height. The beach was amazing and what a length. Thanks again for the share, you do a great job Iona, all the best. 🙏👍.
@daviemcf I'm going to make another video from Berneray, interviewing one of his relatives who's one of my best friends and lots more fascinating history on they island to dig up. The beach is amazing, we are so spoilt here with the landscapes and seascapes we have. Glad you enjoyed it. Ix
@@IonaMacinnes I've seen a few videos that I haven't commented on yet Iona but I will go back and view them again and comment, ones I've already seen are Inverie which i loved and Muck .Eigg and Rhum. I'm looking forward to you interviewing your MacAskill friend. Thanks again.
Beautiful clear turquoise water....looks a lot like my own southern hemisphere home. I half expected you to start running in slow motion to the sound of Chariots of Fire.
07:42 that weather forecast is so typical, gotta love the Scots.. In Lancashire we say 'if you can see the hill rain is due, if you can't it's already raining'..
@tezzah... 😂😂 we need to be talking about the weather and the ferries, thats it. What's it like out? Did the ferry go today? Is the ferry going later? Did you get on the ferry? Is it windy next week? Will the very go next Wednesday??????? hahah hilarious! Your hill is a good weather forecast haha! Ix
Recently discovered your channel and loving these videos - especially when they are like this one with so many familiar places featured! I fell in love with the Outer Hebrides on my first visit three years ago and will be back in 2025 to travel Vatersay to Ness again for the fourth time (I alternate north-south and south-north directions each visit). John's Bunkhouse really is amazing - comfortable, well equipped, spotlessly clean and with welcoming owners. I stayed there twice and met such interesting people there both times. Is it possible to experience cianalas for a place that's never actually been home? Starting to think it might be!
@mcreilly2 hello, welcome and thanks for messaging. Oh amazing you recognise all the places, isn't Berneray amazing! Oh you'll enjoy the risky and south Uist one too then I hope. I've got lots more that will be going up after my Skye one which is any day now. John's bunkhouse is so cool. It was a friend of mines reaction that built the house that is now the bunkhouse and what a great place. The owners are lovely, ive spoken with them. Maybe they'll let me do a wee tour one day if it's quiet. Haha, good on you, Vatersay to Ness is a good holiday for sure. Do you get to different villages each time? Ive got a few ones coming up that aren't usually frequented so much so you might pick up some new spots, or just see some familiar ones. Thanks again for messaging and looking forward t hearing from you again. Where are you from? Impressed with your Gaelic; I think it is, if somewhere feels like home. Not long until your back to Barra. Ix
@@IonaMacinnes I try to see different places but also revisit favourite locations. I will look forward to the new videos! I'm from Edinburgh originally but live in Berkshire for now. I have a little Gaelic... I started learning online as a covid lockdown distraction then kept it up. Studying with Sabhal Mòr Ostaig now.
@@mcreilly2 no way, how fab!! Im just editing my Skye video now and Sabhal Mòr Ostaig features, just a wee bit but enough for you to see what it looks like if you've never been there, haha thats so funny. I was hoping it would appeal to someone other than Mum and I to go all that way out to see it so now I'm very glad you mentioned that. Good use of lockdown time for sure. I know Edinburgh, I studied there for 4 years and loved it; must go back and do a tour of my old haunts one day. Ix
@@IonaMacinnes I've been to the college three times - twice for week long residential courses, and once just for the weekend to see Valtos play in the old barn as part of the college's 50th birthday celebrations. It's an amazing place!
I know, I have a new microphone now so things will be much improved I hope. Ive already filmed North Uist and Balranald nature reserve so sadly they will be same sound quality but hope you still watch and enjoy. Nice you've managed to visit right up north Scotland already. Ix
The colour of the beach and the sea…stunning !
I know, it's amazing right. Wait til you see my South Harris Video, be up in a few weeks and WOW, the beaches are just as amazing. Ix
@@IonaMacinnes Looking forward to it 😊

A perfect surprise when you wake up at 0400 and can't get back to sleep 😊
Great, hope the sound of the ocean helped you back to sleep. Ix

A wonderful place Reminds me of visits to the north of Scotland when I was young. Slight problem that I couldn’t hear quite a lot of the commentary.
@Peter-Snow, I hope you hear my latest video better. I have a new microphone and no music added so should be better for you I hope. Ix
