    I love the Caddy Buddy! I've been using it now for six months and I don't know how I ever got along without it before. The thing I really love about it is how the mirrored text helps me to come across as very natural as I film myself in speaking videos. It's easy to use, and it's sturdy and well made; not flimsy. I needed an extra part and Mike sent it to me that very day. Customer Service is his specialty.

    Thanks for a very informative and well done video. I was pretty sure I would buy this unit but after seeing your video I am buying it. Thanks again! UPDATE: I just bought it through Amazon. I did send the owner of CaddieBuddy an email telling him that your video review is what sold me on the unit.

    I appreciate reviews that are based on price/performance considerations like yours. Not everyone needs or can afford teleprompters costing hundreds of dollars. So, being able to see an independent review of a low-cost option is very valuable.
    I work for a not-for-profit organization in the Washington, DC area serving at-risk youth that has need from time to time for a teleprompter. But, because video is not our primary focus, spending large sums of money on a 'professional' teleprompter is just not financially feasible. What your video has demonstrated is that there are affordable solutions for those of us in that situation and I really appreciate it.
    I also blog about 3D printing and create RUclips reviews of products. I am well acquainted with false accusations of being paid for positive reviews by those with vested interests or even emotional interests in other products. That just comes with the territory. :)

      +CubifyFan Thank you for checking out my video and for your comment and feedback, I really appreciate it.
      There are several affordable options available when it comes to teleprompters. I'm just glad I chose the Caddie Buddy, since it was even better than I hoped for. You can even make your own teleprompter for less money, but I didn't want to bother with that because I don't have the resources (workshop) or the time to do that.
      Andre never got back to me, so I wasn't able to review his product. I guess after I told him I only give honest reviews he changed his mind, knowing that his higher price may not be justified compared to this product here.

      Mine arrive yesterday and it is a perfect solution at a very affordable cost. I'm happy that I came across your review and it is everything you said it would be. Everyone has different needs and the CaddyBuddy Teleprompter fits my needs perfectly.
      I'm using a 12" HP Specra X2 and it fits perfectly in the display bay.
      Rather than using an inexpensive Win10 app, however, I chose to a bit more expensive solution, PromptDog, that gives me greater control over the scroll speed in real time and the ability to use the HP tablet for the 'talent' view and another external monitor for the 'control' view.
      What I would like to see, if at all possible, is a future upgrade to a wider screen and holder plate that would allow for use of 13"+ screens. Even tablets are getting bigger and 12" HDMI monitors are tough to find. The CaddyBuddy design, it seems to me is versatile enough to permit such upgrades.
      I'm a happy camper.

    Don't let this guy get to you, Robert. It is clear that his primary motivation is promoting his product. And he has made the mistaken assumption that you obtained the Caddie Buddy for free in exchange for a positive review. Personally, I'd accept his offer of a free Pad Prompter. I know you'll be objective in your comparison and subsequent review. Of course, he'd still be upset because even if you liked the Pad Prompter more you wouldn't slam the Caddie Buddy. I think Andre needs to work on his approach and people skills.

      +Ulysses Campbell It's not really getting to me at all. I actually appreciate honest feedback. Before posting this review I already considered re-shooting this due to the tripod shake and me failing to tighten the screw for the tray.
      All of that doesn't say anything about the teleprompter, but everything about my clumsiness.
      This review is my honest opinion on a device I was able to afford. I refuse to give credit where it is not due, nor will I ever endorse a product I don't believe in. Anybody can send me free samples of their products, but whether it's free or not, will not affect my opinion. My integrity cannot be bought for less than 3 million dollars lol

    May I ask why you just doubled the Price????

    • @ameridutch
      @ameridutch  5 лет назад

      E.P. I have no idea what you're talking about, I'm not selling anything, so there's no price for me to double. I just checked the caddie buddy website and this teleprompter actually got cheaper, from $ 175 to $ 165. As for the apps, I don't sell those either, I only gave a ball park number of what you might spend.

      ameridutch Well if you are the manufacturer then I’m directing you to the fact that amazon had them formerly at 85 and 129 with case, If you are not the manufacturer then I am not directing my inquiry to you .

      I am not affiliated with this product, I'm just giving a review. However, I bought this specific item directly from the manufacturer, NOT through Amazon. Please see the link below the video in the text to go directly to Caddiebuddy. If you order please mention my video so I may get a discount on future units.

    what kind of tripod are you using?

    • @ameridutch
      @ameridutch  7 лет назад +1

      Walking In The Light , thanks for watching my video. The tripod on the left is an affordable Ambico tripod. I would recommend getting a bit sturdier tripod if your budget allows it. For video I can recommend Benro tripods as they compare to Manfrotto, but for a lot less.

    Hey,
    I'm so mad....that I'm willing to send you one Pad Prompter for free....so that you can compare....you'll see what is a real teleprompter ......not a flimsy homemade product.....watch your video....we can see the teleprompter shaking like hell on the tripod....please, just be honest when doing review and people will respect you more,
    thanks
    Andre

      @ameridutch  8 лет назад

      +Andre Desrochers Of course you have every right to your opinion and I am more than willing to try your product as well and give an honest review. The reason the Caddie Buddy is shaking is because of an inferior tripod I used. In my opinion, the product is quite sturdy. Using it on a sturdier tripod will automatically make it more steady.
      I did NOT receive this product for free (I wish, I could have saved some money). I produce TV programs out of pocket on volunteer basis for our local public access television. I have compared all my options under $ 200 and decided to buy this one and make a review to help out other low budget producers. This is not to make others mad or "sell my honor", I have nothing to gain myself here.
      But I appreciate your feedback and I am looking forward to alternatives. Please feel free to share a link to your product here.

      So did this Andre guy ever send you the other teleprompter? I'd love to see a side by side comparison. Also Price is definitely a factor! You usually get what you pay for. For less than $200 it looks like a good product.

    • @ameridutch

      Hi Cody, No, Andre never followed up. Meanwhile I have used this teleprompter more extensively and I am extremely happy with the solid construction and the ease of use for less than $ 200. I even used it as a prompter without the camera during a public speaking event, which also worked very well.

      Unfortunate he never responded. He apparently was just upset that the competition was releasing a great product at such a cheap cost. I will likely be purchasing the Caddie Buddy teleprompter very soon! Thanks for the review.

    Hi,
    I just found your video and I cannot resist to write to you.....My name is Andre, I own Onetakeonly.com and I sell real teleprompter .......I cant believe that you can say that the caddie Buddy is a GREAT teleprompter....if you have say that it's ok for the price, it would have been ok .......it's obvious that you got it for free.......I dont see any other reason you can say such biased comment.....you just lost all your credibility ......hard to believe that someone can sell his honor for $150 ......sorry for beeing a bit rude...but we work hard here to sell REAL stuff and but bullshit get me mad

      +Andre Desrochers Of course you have every right to your opinion and that is why I allow people to post their opinions here. I am more than willing to try your product as well and give an honest review. The reason the Caddie Buddy is shaking is because of an inferior tripod I used, just like your teleprompter was shaking on a light stand. In my opinion, the product is quite sturdy. Using it on a sturdier tripod will automatically make it more steady.

      Andre, you did yourself and your product a real disservice in attacking a user's credibility with absolutely NO justification other than your own self-service.
      The shame is that your product, the PadPrompter, seems like a nice, reasonably affordable solution that I would have been more than happy to consider had you taken a more positive approach to Ameridutch. Based on my research into your product it is probably a better solution for professional videographers on the go every day in remote locations.
      But, to be honest, the CaddyBuddy, in my current situation, better meets my needs in a permanent location using a single tripod to hold the camera and prompter. That's not bullsh**t. It's just the truth and the sooner you learn that people have different needs, the better your business will be as you focus more on how you can meet the needs of those that match your product and let others look for solutions in other directions without pouring out your wrath on them.

      +Andre Desrochers Hey Andre! I'm a youtuber looking to invest in a teleprompter. I was going to get this one, but if you have a superior product, I'd love to talk business!

    • @ameridutch
      @ameridutch  8 лет назад +1

      Kat Blaque Thanks for your visit Kat. Nice to see that some people have a larger budget. Andre clearly typed his website, so maybe you should visit him there, I'm sure he will gladly take your money (twice as much as this product). He never responded to me here, nor did he put his product where his mouth is and send me one of his teleprompters to test it. So I'm really not going to assume that his product is superior. But good luck "talking business" to him and let me know how it went :-)
