We need a Coleco Vision Mini, the second best console of the 80's, it had so many great games.

I agree. Years ago there was a ColecoVision Flashback, but a mini would be awesome to see.

coleco adam mini, with built in daisy wheel printer

      I’d buy it

Nope, the collectorvision phoenix just needs a new production run. That’s FPGA. All you need, all the rest is redundant. A dream would be an Atari cartridge slot added. The FPGA core is already on there!

The Coleco Flashback was a nice try, but I don't like the controllers it came with... just too bad you can use real Coleco controllers on it!

It’s insane. My parents bought me a 2600 in ‘86 or ‘88 i believe. Still dominating the market in Europe by then. Although 5200, 7800, xl, 400, 800,… were far superior, but still not bought at the time.

      @chfgn 11 дней назад

The 2600 had a bit of a resurgence around that time, at least in the US. I know the European market was different, but over here video games were taking off in popularity thanks to home computers and the NES, so a lot of people were remembering they had an old Atari and getting it out of the closet, showing it to the kids, and buying some new cartridges for it. My memory of growing up in the late 80s was that you were equally likely to encounter an NES or an Atari 2600 when visiting someone’s house. I had never even heard of Intellivision or Coleco or 5200, Nintendo and Atari were the only two games in town (aside from computers, which in the US were usually Apple II, IBM PC, Commodore 64, or that original black and white Macintosh).

Bonus tip: if you have a VCS (2021 console) classic stick you can plug it into the 400 mini and unlock two paddle games which then you can play with the rotary portion of the joystick. One of them is Castle Crisis, a fantastic Warlords port.

I love retro, mini consoles. I wish there were more. I had an Apple IIE though BUT I played these games on the Atari 2600 and 5200. I wish Castle Wolfenstein was included. I also would love to see a retro system that can play classic Activision games. Unless there is one and dont realize it. Activison made incredible, game changing titles.

I don't think the Atari 800 was a follow-up to the 400. I think they came out at the same time.

@@omerozel4716 Yes they did. But back then the 800 was like the pro version to the 400.

      There was no “Pro”
At the time, 1979, it was expensive and very expensive.

I think the follow up was the XL line of computers that introduced a 64k to match Commodore. Im pretty sure that the 81 in his name is his birthdate by that statement.

for 120+ this needs to come with power supply, or block like the custom atari logo blocks sold on ebay, they couldve done that.

I like that you can add roms to it... makes it work having over a lot of the flashback systems that didn't allow for it!

I like having it so far to play a handful of games I haven't elsewhere. That stock controller is pretty rough though, I've never had so many accidental button presses on anything like this before. Do you have any other favorite 800 games to play on here that you legally own? 5200 Space Dungeon will be sweet if they can get twin analogs working on an 8bitdo. Maybe I'll try to get that working the RP5 in the meantime.

The PS Classic is probably the best of all the mini consoles! You can easily add thousands of games with minimal effort. Plus for a while there you could pick them up dirt cheap. I’ve bought 5 of them brand new, never paid more than $30 on one.

The joystick is Wonky? i dont think i ever heard that said about it what does that mean? it must be just that one because the one that comes with the 2600+ was excellent in quality alot of arcade ports ala Pac Man play better with a joystick over a controller thus later the Term “arcade stick “ i was hoping this would have been more like the 2600 and 7800+ and play OG carts . i think Evercade or my arcade made this not really Atari so thats why this is so different.

I'd love to see a mini of the Atari 2600 (even though it probably wouldn't feature any more games than Atari 50 on the Switch) and 5200 as well. Possibly even the 7800. But not for $100. That price (for the 400) is a ripoff. Especially for only 25 games. It's bad enough I was forced to pay like $130 for the Sega Genesis Mini 2, and $100 for the TurboGrafx 16 Mini. Cool little consoles, but these prices are unfair. At least Nintendo's Mini consoles (and the first Genesis Mini) were a bit cheaper, and high quality.

Better to go for Analogue’s N64. They do a way better job then Nintendo. No jailbreaks anymore though….

    "legally obtained roms" pshh😅
It's cool and all, but I wish they'd just release an FPGA console, instead of these emulation boxes. Maybe you can stuff a MISTer in there. 🤷

hey JOHN , great videos man ,🏆🏆 but the Ataris are a Vintage just too far back , , my vintage really kicked into high gear when they released American NES , so yes my interest are zero for keyboard systems of ANY type ; pun intended 🎉😂🤣🔥🏆🏆🏆
