      Well it depends who you are. Navigating and installing the good user made content is not all that convenient, and I would guess the majority of players wont do it. If you limit it to official content, its not all that good. The best of Hordes of the Underdark is quite good, but I couldnt honestly recommend this game - with its dated production values and control of only a single character - to someone on that basis. And persuading people to try the user made stuff and jump through the necessary hoops to do so is a tough sell. I havent seen much of it to be honest, though I would say the Aielund Saga is a well rounded campaign that stands as a respectable full length RPG on its own. There is probably some other great stuff out there too. But at the same time, you could just be playing Wrath of the Righteous or Pillars of Eternity 2 with far less hassle.

    One of the best games ever. Even after 20 years I still play it and enjoy the atmosphere in it, which is imho, perfect for a d&d game.

    It's amazing to me that the flexibility and the clean UI of NWN has never been duplicated in more modern games. The closest I've seen to date is Solasta and I really hope that Tactical Adventures furthers the capabilities of the dungeon builder.

    • @fandraxx
      @fandraxx  2 года назад +5

      Agreed. Neverwinter Nights is just a joy to navigate, as much as I'll always be a fan of the old infinity engine screen-based style.

    • @qzamap3870
      @qzamap3870 2 года назад +3

      Solasta gets closer to how unique NWN was with user-gen content than all the other modern rpgs I've played. Especially with it still being in development, I think it has a serious case for becoming the "new" NWN.

    I only discovered Neverwinter a couple months ago and boy was I disappointed with myself for sleeping on this gem so long. I have only played the first couple parts of the og campaigns I almost immediately installed the prc mod so I could make what I consider a very interesting build I have been playing in a 3.5 tabletop campaign. This character came about because my best was complaining about the strength of his monk and I joked that a fighter could do a monk better.
    5 levels of fighter and you can get the superior improved unarmed fighting that gives a character the unarmed damage of a monk. I also took levels of sorcerer and rogue to bump up my save and skill points. Also, shocking grasp with unarmed strike damage is awesome. The only thing homebrewed is a feat that allows him to use unarmed strike the same round as part of casting touch spells which sadly isn't in Never winter nights even with that awesome mod.

    What a great video! I think I’ll reinstall NWN and give this module a go, since I've always kinda ignored these smaller modules not knowing if they were worthy of my time
    I don't know if you're gonna make a video on Darkness over Daggerford but I'd be interested in seeing it, since I really liked it and think it's deserving of at least some attention.

    What I did like were the companions, those were the highlight for me, not only because they broke the usual standard race henchmen trope but also because they made them truly exotic and original, but other than that, the INSTANT you find out the final villain is a >!mindflyer!< and that it is >!YOUR BROTHER!< that was it for me.
    High Fantasy or no high fantasy, that fact broke my suspension of disbelief so hard I could barely bring myself to finish the mod. I did, only to get over it, but man...
    And there's no explanation as to why that is either.
    >!Was he your humanoid brother who got converted via tadpole? Yeah, he's no longer your brother, I'm afraid.!

    I was excited to see where Neverwinter Nights could go after NWN 2. Game was a lot of fun. Played the original through a lot of its expansions and NWN 2 and Mask of the Betrayer. Wish they would have made a new single player/co-op rpg instead of the Neverwinter MMO we got.

    • @fandraxx

      @@fandraxx Same but i thought that them having the rights or licenses for the mmo kept anyone else from making a new single player/co-op game based on Neverwinter. Could be wrong on that.

    Great video. I also was impressed by Kingmaker, but then I discovered community modules and there is much better and varied content there.
    As other commenters have mentioned there's a lack of quality neverwinter nights content on youtube. If you did reviews of community modules, which imo are the most interesting part of neverwinter nights single player, you'd have my upvote :D

    People always be hating on the original story not sure really completely why. It was memorable for me. Still remember a bunch of characters and zones I went through. Granted yea Shadows and Underdark were better due to added mechanics and the heart of gold Kobold Deekin. Still, I play the original campaign when I get the itch every four years or so when I play again.

    I love neverwinter nights but I cannot for the life of me get it to run smooth on my computer, I have changed settings in nvidia control/ changed pc settings, etc. I just can't get the game to run smoothly and it stutters so much that its unplayable.

    • @fandraxx
      @fandraxx  2 года назад +1

      I found my game ran quite a bit better after I turned off a lot of the post-processing effects (Anti-aliasing, Depth of View, dithering, that sort of thing). No idea if that would solve it for you, but it might be worth a try. There's probably some forum posts out there that you can check, as well. I remember people reporting some performance issues when the game launched.

    • @player_unknown963

      I've heard of other older games running at too high FPS so limiting the FPS in the game sometimes helps. You can limit the FPS in Nvidia control panel if you have an Nvidia card.

      Log the time of the crash, look at event viewer in windows under the errors tab, find the error that happened at that time, Google the error code to see what exactly happened, then google a fix for what it says about that error.
