- Inspired by Sick Puppies "All the Same" video featuring Juan Mann, people here in Japan have started the Free Hugs Campaign.
Some says it won't happen in Japan. But it did!
This is a true documentary video of Free Hugs at Shibuya, Tokyo.

For those who care about why FREE HUGS on the sign board is written in English, not Japanese, we wanted to communicate with the original English-language words, and they ARE the message. Plus, Free Hugs in Japanese is actually written on the other side of the board.

Freehugs is such a good idea, it makes everyone smile. I feel happy just seeing it because you can leave your online world and realize that there are real, loving humans everywhere in the world.

i was in japan for a month, japanese tend to be shy, but they are very friendly and helpful people. and they are really discipline....i miss japan so much!

Lol this is totally true! I went to Japan a month ago, and there really do sit there with a sign saying free hug in english. And so sue me I hugged everyone that was holding up a sign, and got a photo. What an awesome place that people are able to do that and not get attacked.

If you go to Japan, you would find that most Japanese people are docile, shy, self-controlled individuals who are overwhelmed my heavy loads of business and stress. You walk out in the streets in Tokyo and you notice the men and women in business suits, locked up in the world of business. And in such countries, it's really hard for people to hug a stranger in public. I would like to see the Japanese people open their hearts and accept the hugs. That would lighten their loads of heavy work.
I send you a big hug from London, Canada. Otro desde Mexico. It was really inspiring to see this video. In Spain and Mexico the people who give free hugs on the street approach the people and do not wait to get hugged but maybe depends on the culture.

When I was in Japan on vacation, I saw someone with a FREE HUGS sign at the mall. Unfortunately, my family was there with me, and it would be a bit awkward to tell them I want to go hug that guy.

Seriously, I think that the user should have disabled comments. Because people insist on posting hate-comments. Something like this does in fact help people. Free hugs. Small acts of kindness won't change the world, but it helps. And for those posting hate and racist comments, they can change the world by looking in the mirror and starting with themselves.
