From what I read from other's those purples are not holds with your thumb, look at the bottom of the screen, you can see a slider, you just gotta adjust it to the note piece and if it's a straight line, focus on the other colored notes, when you gotta slide it that's when it'll be a test of skill if you're a thumb player, which shouldn't be SUPER hard, but fairly challenging, unlike a specific piano game I love. (Deemo.)
When those purple notes are in a straight line, you're not obligated to move them unless you want to hear SE. Just move them to the next position, even a tap to the next hit note works
