They do hav the best voice composition tbh...for me personally Siyeon - rockish,breathy vibrato,angelic Yooh - high tone , breathy Jiu - soft tone,high pitch Handong - deep high tone, musical Dami - deep low tone Gahyeon - mid range tone Sua - flexible in any range So for me they really fit perfectly so that they hav perfect harmony when singing together.. 😘
that is one of the many things i love about them all ther completly different and uniqe voices compliments eachother in a way that creates a perfect recepie for any song to sound amazing and the fact that they are all increadible good at their parts in the songs
I am not sure if it's a stylistic choice by the company, or because of how they distribute lines (all rec. the full song and they pick who suited each part best), but DC really has a nice (and complimentary) range of voices that all work well together, without all sounding the same as each other. You can really tell always who is singing at any point. Where as some other companies tend to layer their members voices over each other a lot and end up with them all sounding the same as each other. Might be because comparatively DC has a very strong vocal line-up for the group compared to the average group out there.
In terms of personal growth, I think she had the biggest improvement in the whole group for nearly every category especially in stage presence. Shes more confident and knowledgeable about her unique charms. Her vocals are undeniably stable something we can appreciate as the line distribution is now rather fair. Her raps are solid too. While she isn't my main bias, I personally have a very soft spot for her.
Gahyeon's "I don't wanna done" in piri is forever iconic! Seriously... Give this angel more attention! She's pure perfection, put into one human Her vocals, her rapping, her visuals... Her everything!

She is actually one of the members that I looked forward to the most in terms of vocal improvement, alongside Dami. I always knew she has power in her vocal, a unique voice, and breath support cause she sounds consistent. She just need to learn more techniques and get used to using it. I reckon in a few years, she has the potential to be on the same level as the present Jiu or even Yoohyeon
Honestly i dont think she is that far of yoohyeon latley she has improved so mutch and we might see an eaven better vertion in the upcomming concert. The problem with Gahyeon is not about herself. She would be a queen in almost any other band. But when you are surrounded by top-singers like Yooheon and specially Siyeon, and other talented singers and rappers like Dami, Sua or Handong, it's easy to end up just as the "cute maknae". She does a great and very professional work in DC.

I wouldnt say her Rap is underrated, but her vocals are. Probably because Dreamcatcher have so many amazing Vocalists, she never stands out that much in terms of vocals. Great video! The thing I like most about Gahyeon is her growth. The shy cute face that got few lines suddenly popped with her rap in Piri, that was so unexpected! I wasn't even that much of a fan of rap normally, but she began to stand out. Again in Scream she stood out, although at first I only had eyes for my bias JiU with the prettiest hair in all of K-pop. I loved all members of course, but was pretty sure of Yoohyeon's position as wrecker (even though SuA cheated and looked straight at me in Amsterdam, unfair!). Then Boca was released. Wow. Surely Gahyeon's song! Vocals, rap and visuals, all perfect. Try this, watch the Esquire Boca six times, each focusing on one member. You'll see who draws your attention...Both her becoming an adult dance (the red dress you included a clip of) and Bloom dressed as a mermaid proved she embraced her sexy side too. The fun part of the growth is it's not just in skill but mostly in confidence. Despite nasty comments during the time she was the least slim member (unbelievably how harsh "fans" can be..), she got more mature, confident and happy. So nice to see!

Mainly the age hierarchy stuff (unni, sunbaenim, formal speech) but also the acceptance of discussing weight. I'm taught it's rude to say someone should lose some weight, but in some context it can be viewed as looking out for someone. Weird, huh? This in turn makes even ruder comments acceptable, especially in a toxic environment as Twitter. I couldn't believe Mamamoo were called not fitting idol ideals, not pretty enough to be idols or even ugly. "fans" even petioned Hwasa to be replaced?! A combination of length (at 160 cm it's hard to get the weight-height ratio of idols that are 170...) and skin teint (can't be pale enough). Same for age, Brown Eyed Girls already got some comments at the age of 30 that it was time to stop, settle down and have kids. Forgot the name, but they made a sassy song and continue going strong (even now at age 40). I do think idol culture is slowly changing for the better, but fierce competition, toxic nature of social media and people used to beauty standards remain a challenge.

Some idols mostly get by because of their visuals and dance. It's fairly easy to see if you check line distribution videos. I've seen quite a few songs from other bands where some of the members have no solo lines at all. I'm sure all idols can sing to some extent, but very few groups have a good enough lineup that everyone can pull off a solo song (and indeed there aren't that many bands where all members have released solo tracks).

I wouldnt say her Rap is underrated, but her vocals are. Probably because Dreamcatcher have so many amazing Vocalists, she never stands out that much in terms of vocals. Atleast not compared to someone like Siyeon. But i think her biggest strength are her facial expression, especially in the BEcause MV and in live stages overall
it is hard to get noticed when you have such powerful vocalists and dami in the same group but i agree and think her facial expressions and stage presence is what makes her stand out in the beginning for many.
i think most baby insomnia and some long time insomnia dont see how good her vocals actually are because it very few times i have heard people talk about her vocals compared to everyone else, if people talk about her it is usually visual related or her rap in boca
edit: but of course people can have their opinons on what they like and i dont mind if others dont like her vocals and it is not a cometition

And I agree many baby Insomnias are probably to flashed by Damis Rap or Siyeons / Yoohyeons Vocals to recognise her talent besides her facial expressions/ visual. But I feel like there are so many B-Sides where Gahyeon really shines

The thing I like most about Gahyeon is her growth. The shy cute face that got few lines suddenly popped with her rap in Piri, that was so unexpected! I wasn't even that much of a fan of rap normally, but she began to stand out. Again in Scream she stood out, although at first I only had eyes for my bias JiU with the prettiest hair in all of K-pop. I loved all members of course, but was pretty sure of Yoohyeon's position as wrecker (even though SuA cheated and looked straight at me in Amsterdam, unfair!).
Then Boca was released. Wow. Surely Gahyeon's song! Vocals, rap and visuals, all perfect. Try this, watch the Esquire Boca six times, each focusing on one member. You'll see who draws your attention...Both her becoming an adult dance (the red dress you included a clip of) and Bloom dressed as a mermaid proved she embraced her sexy side too.
The fun part of the growth is it's not just in skill but mostly in confidence. Despite nasty comments during the time she was the least slim member (unbelievably how harsh "fans" can be..), she got more mature, confident and happy. So nice to see!

i agree gahyeon groth has been incredible in stage presence rapping and also her vocal abilities has increased a lot. i was not a part of this fandom untill they released scream but can imagine it was a shock to see her Journey to now and am exited to see how she will continue to improve wich i am sure she will.

Yeah, when I first got into K-pop (august 2018) I was surprised by cultural differences. Mainly the age hierarchy stuff (unni, sunbaenim, formal speech) but also the acceptance of discussing weight. I'm taught it's rude to say someone should lose some weight, but in some context it can be viewed as looking out for someone. Weird, huh? This in turn makes even ruder comments acceptable, especially in a toxic environment as Twitter.
I couldn't believe Mamamoo were called not fitting idol ideals, not pretty enough to be idols or even ugly. "fans" even petioned Hwasa to be replaced?! A combination of length (at 160 cm it's hard to get the weight-height ratio of idols that are 170...) and skin teint (can't be pale enough). Same for age, Brown Eyed Girls already got some comments at the age of 30 that it was time to stop, settle down and have kids. Forgot the name, but they made a sassy song and continue going strong (even now at age 40).
I do think idol culture is slowly changing for the better, but fierce competition, toxic nature of social media and people used to beauty standards remain a challenge.

Oh and yes, Amsterdam was so awesome! It was a pretty small crowd, but we made up for that in volume. I've only been to metal concerts before that (Within Temptation, Epica, Delain and more), but none were as loud as insomnias!

My Opinion is there is no bad singer if you are a kpop idol because they go through auditions right?
not only that but also up to 10years of vocal and dance traning sometimes more and proberbly around 10hours a day
Some idols mostly get by because of their visuals and dance. It's fairly easy to see if you check line distribution videos. I've seen quite a few songs from other bands where some of the members have no solo lines at all.
I'm sure all idols can sing to some extent, but very few groups have a good enough lineup that everyone can pull off a solo song (and indeed there aren't that many bands where all members have released solo tracks).
