After thinking I was dying as my throat and ear pain on one side wasn't going away, it turns out it was this blasted muscle that was the cause. Pinching it as demonstrated caused the trigger points in my throat to kick in
Thank you, my SCMs are really tight and they pull right out of my hands, I've had two concussions in the past couple years along with PCS. Basically all of my muscles in neck, shoulders, and upper back are all super tight and that's with seeing a chiro and acupuncturist who also discovered my sub scalp muscle is super tight. I've used a massage cane to get this muscle and it helps, but thanks to you I can get this muscle if I forget to take it to work with me. Still trying to figure out how to get my occipital nerves to calm down, they feel like turbines when they start winding up and then they buzzzzzzzz. Looking at occipital release tools at the moment. Thanks again for the SCM help.
Glad this is able to get you some relief. If you're looking for a suboccipital release and have a foam roller handy give this video a try: ruclips.net/video/U9EDdblCj8Q/видео.html
Check Meir Schneider on YT as well.
Holy cow! I can’t believe how helpful this was!! I did these exact movements but on my left side. My SCM was clenched tight and about the size of a half a fist. This exercise done three times for thirty seconds loosened it right up. I can’t believe it!
Oh my gosh Thankyou so much I just did this for 2 mins on one side and it started cracking and I felt so much better and almost cried just because the release was so good
I’ve been studying for my board exams and I’ve never had issues with my SCM before. This made it go away so fast, thank you!
Can scm’s flair up into a tight lump of muscle when tmj is triggered? I’ve had my tmj flair up for four days now and I believe my scm is the hard lump of muscle that I feel that needs a ton of stretching to make it go away! The lump is right under my left ear lobe next to the bottom corner of my jaw.
That lump could be a lymph node more likely.

Where would referred pain go from this muscle? Can tightness in this area cause sternum tenderness or pain if this muscle has pain? This doesn't mess with the jugular vein will it?
My scm left is tight causing tinnitus can I do this lying down as well in pillow?
Yes, you can definitely do this lying down with the head supported by a pillow. Just remember to be gentle.
Holy shit. It worked. Thank you very much
This just changed my life thank you
Dude me to
Thank you for sharimg knowledge that improves my quality of life
thank you!!!
You just took away months of neck pain!
So glad to hear it!
Can we do this if it feels a bit tender to the touch? I’m scared that if I touch it that it will increase tenderness. Is that normal? Is it also normal for this muscle to really hurt when you cough?
Can you tell me when you did im having the coughing pain problem
I’m getting this right now I’m scared
I'm also having muscle tenderness that also hurts when I cough. I dk if I just strained this muscle or what.
I can't touch it !!!
totally helpful!
I read that this SCM can affect swallowing too.How often should one do these exercises?
It can affect swallowing?
Yes it does! I used to have pain while swallowing and I thought it was a sore throat, but my doctor said there is nothing. After stretching the SCM it went away.
@@fatimakay I’ll have to keep doing the exercises.I start to feel better then stop doing them and my symptoms come back
Same for me! I feel better and then I stop doing them. Vicious cycle lol
@@fatimakay yes it is.I have a RUclips channel I’d love for you to be a subscriber to😁 I just started it so only a few videos. But yes I look down a lot at my iPhone and that causes my neck pain
Thanks so much! I have had a neck niggle on and off after a MASSIVE amount of dental work, don't know if connected but this seems to really help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How often do you suggest this massage? Once, twice daily?
If you are really trying to proactively work it out, you can work on it 2-3 times a day or at least once daily. Try it for a week and see how it's going. Work within your comfort zone and if it is feeling sore or painful, back off.
You are amazing! I've been trying to pop my ear for days, and nothing has worked. This finally worked!! Can we massage behind the SCM too? I feel like I have trigger points back there as well!
Not helping I feel worse
Can u do a video where u contract your knee muscles? Or quads
Hi Code Blue. Is there something particular you are looking to focus on? An issue, an injury, or a goal? Depending on that, maybe we could design a video for you or point you to a relevant one already on our channel that suits what you're working on!
Psoas Massage + Bodywork like knee pain? Just wanting you guys do a video where you stand and contract your knee muscles/patella/Quads
Hi Code Blue! If you're looking to address knee pain, stretching and stabilizing the quads can definitely be part of the process. For that, we recommend this side-lying active isolated stretch: ruclips.net/video/dJtAhKwPA_k/видео.html. We also really like this dynamic stretch that supports stabilization: ruclips.net/video/P329P-aLyZw/видео.html. Hope that helps!
Psoas Massage + Bodywork id like to see Jenny do a quad flex video where she stands and controls her knees.
