I found the volume of this video to be adequate. One can hear a bit of room reverb, but nothing distracting, and there weren't any noise issues with the audio. The content is classic Hedges, and worth a listen.
+George Morey I listened to this video on the built in speakers of my laptop. There could be a simple explanation for the difference in experience. I've noticed performance variations in different sound cards. I may just be using a computer with a sound card that is on the beneficial end of the standard deviation for sound reproduction.
Nobody in Oklahoma cares about stopping fracking, except maybe one other woman in the college town north of here...and myself. Most people are too broken to connect the dots or remember what nurtures us. And when I bring up the subject of fracking to new people I get glazed- over looks and more retrenched souls looking defeated....acting more afraid of the truth than of what has destroyed everything human and everything alive here...
The land is being destroyed but the communities have long since been destroyed around the entire country, thanks to the raping of the land by the parasitical corporations who will never stop until the greedy heads of the gargantuan monsters like bezos the bald faced liar have consumed everything that's worth living for. Very Dangerous.
My family is from Oklahoma, that's really disheartening to hear. It's insane to me - we have all the energy we could ever want all around us. The entire world is made of energy and we are bombarbed with it constantly. Total madness to choose the most difficult and destructive way when we know so much.
We have to be aware of the fact that ,the corner stone of our social-economic system(in developed countries) is greed. And the people who have the power ,can e do everything they can to accumulate as much money they can.Wich is a natural and obvious reaction.Acording to the logic of the system. And the big problem that we will face from now on, is that our economic system is changing. In the midle of the last century they built social welfare, not because they wanted to help poor, but because they want money circulate, and because there was another power -that people could turn to- comunism. Nowadays there`s no alternative- The actual system is the only one in the market- there is no competition, anymore! In my opinion the problem that people in the United States are facing will hit Europe soon , because ,they don`t need that people work in their factories anymore-(big corporations) they have put their production in Asia. Big corporations= American and European elites- who are the actual owners of those big corporations, who have shares of those corporations. And from now on ,they don`t need that people have money to buy their products, because they are creating bigger and more sofisticated markets in Asia-China, India, Indonysia, Malasya, etc. They don`t need people , in developed countries , anymore. It is why we see what we see now- the termination of the midlle class in America ,and the beginning of this process in Europe
Centre for the Study of the United States, Chris Hedges Lecture: Inequality in the United States, 20 October 2015; published 27 Jan 2016. • Hero is bandied about easily, but Chris Hedges is a true, honest, caring warrior who never gives up and dauntlessly continues the struggle for the plight of our world. • Chris Hedges is well studied, has the experience and work in the field of the oppressed, has dutifully reported on world atrocities, and continues to write and lecture upon his experiences with the heart and drive to fight for change. • He is a realist and explains how we must come together, stand together, that revolution does not have an easy, laid out timetable; revolution and change will come when its time is right; all we can do is spread the word, support as we can; and be prepared. Namaste and care, mhikl
+George Morey I've heard of Group think (a psycho-social phenomena) ... I've even seen it overtake groups of people; but I've never heard of "Jesus think" ... though it does sound at face value something most rational people would avoid.
There are hundreds of home owners in Oklahoma whose hoes have been sevrly damaged as a result of the massive earth quakes created by the fracking companies.ln order to save my home from foundation failure l personally had to pay foundation repair companies over fifteen thousand just to save my home.l have been in civil litigation since 2016 with no sttlment because they file bankruptcy ad reorganize under another name to avoid fiscal responsibility.
Back again. Love Chris... scares me but true respect. Can t hear you. Chris. 75, no funds live in states. A word to the wise, don t give it all away. Hi Westside Granny. At 64 I hear you and I've taken it to heart. Commiserations to what's happening in the States and here we seem to be the micro to your macro. Swathes of abandoned former working class in ever degrading social housing. We have our sacrifice zones too.

Chris Hedges is a Pulitzer-prize Human Being to me
