This is the side of being a First Responder I don't think I could deal with. My brother drowned when he was two years old. My dad found his body. I wasn't there but I'm sure it as an extremely traumatic scene. These brave men and women do this for a living, I'm sure finding these bodies, especially when it's a child, is a memory they carry with them forever!

DFW just received lots of rain, with so much traffic in DFW the roads accumulate lots of oil and when it rains these roads become like ice very slippery, always always drive with caution 😢
The five year old was discharged too soon. Its not remarkable its our insurance system. One day is not enough observation. She is still at risk of respiratory failure. I hope her family will continue to closely monitor her for the next week even if insurance kicks us out of the hospital with two normal vital sign readings.

Edit: So it turns out that they are from Oklahoma. I grew up in Oklahoma and they are typically not as bad with driving erratically in bad weather as Texans but it still happens.
Flash Floods are no joke. High water crossing warnings are NO JOKE. It doesn't matter how heavy your truck is, it will float and move without your input in just a couple inches of water. I grew up in Texas. This is known, and yet we still have people trying to cross water each time because they can't gauge how deep/fast the water is. At best, you're going to destroy your car. At worst, you're washed out and at the mercy of the floodwater.

40 to 50 THOUSAND people die in their car EVERY YEAR. When will people drive like their life depends on paying attention and driving like you're supposed to? The rules for safe operation of a car are pretty simple but are completely ignored by far to many drivers.
