I still have my 12" vinyls of Evies albums.
Many times, listening with tears rolling down my cheeks.
49 years ago when l got saved. I wish we could go back life was so much better than now. But my walk with the Lord is stronger now. I am a street Evangelist

I loved this song as a young Christian. Learned to play it on the piano with many a tear. So thankful you’ve loaded it here. Many memories with this one! Eventually I became a worship leader!

My mother feel in love with your music Evie in the mid to late 70's. On Thursday her day off she would play your LP'S while cleaning the house. She love to play your LP'S on my Pioneer stereo and crank the volume. When she past in 1982 at age 46 I got all of her records which was a full Evie collection which I still have and own and play. I loved your music back then and even more now. Due too having been hit by a car 3 different times in my life and 23 surgeries, 2 heart attacks pain is a 24/7 battle for me. I use music to help get my mind off the pain and when playing her albums it comforts me makes me sad she is gone but playing your collection I often feel she is hear trying to help with my pain. I would love to find all of the LP'S on CD's.
    Sincerely,
    Todd M Galbrecht

Can relate as evidenced by the following sentences delineating how we use music to deal with pain. The negative influences of this world are designed to make our heart sick through emotional & physical pain resulting in a given person turning to music as one source of comfort to the body. The painful realty of this existence gives rise to the birth of music in two forms, earthly & HEAVENLY. Earthly music speaks to the experiences of this world through the singer-song writer’s eyes. Oftentimes drug use (i.e. alcohol, smokes, marijuana, cocaine, opioids, benzos and propofol to name a few) is intertwined with the survival of an artist to deal with the pressure of performing in order to stay relevant in the music industry, and to serve as fuel for creativity. As a result, music celebrities develop a tendency to sin against their body, through excessive drug use, for not measuring up to or to satisfy the demands of their music. Any earthly joy they experience is darkened by the heavy burden of performing and the loss of privacy.
The end users of their music become fans because the lyrics are relatable and the sound of the singer’s voice & rhythm helps them cope with the pains of this reality. Unfortunately, this band aid approach is only a time out from the hurt and in the meantime we are fortifying its wall with painful memories waiting in line. Who can save us from wounds that are silent, wordless and cruel all the while tearing us apart inch by inch on the inside, which could radically accelerate the demise of the human body? I will use caps as emphasis to show the honest reverence for GOD'S SOVEREIGNTY when writing about HEAVENLY music in the paragraphs below.
That INVINCIBLE DIVINE be our HEAVENLY FATHER, WHO THROUGH HIS SON’S MISSION HAS INSPIRED believers to write songs that sing of HIS LIFE GIVING LOVE to deal with emotional & physical pain, economic instability, mortality and the emotional instability of others with the motive of winning over souls for HIS KINGDOM. The melody & theme of HEAVENLY music is hateful and intolerable to the devil, a spirit which causes us to be blinded of the effects of sin and is responsible for the woes of this world such as melancholy, anguish, tribulation and trial. These agitations of the soul create a heavy burden for the lost and could lead him or her to be hostile of songs that sing about GOD’S GLORY. This makes it clear that we cannot win the spiritual battle by our own strength. Moreover, on earth the devil has no equal.
GOD has provided us with the ONE WHO CAN AND WILL LIFT the heavy burden of sin's guilt from a given sinner's heart if he or she (through faith) would open their understanding to Psalms (starting with the focus on Psalms 51:1-10 KJV), and hymns/songs giving praise to HIM for the purpose of being persuaded, converted and healed by the HOLY SPIRIT from within by transforming your body/temple into a meeting place for you and the KING OF THE AGES to commune as friends through the born again experience (repentance manifesting itself in a changed life). It is only here that the fears of tomorrow will diminish, the blessed assurance is given that you are HIS and HE LIVES. Once the blessed assurance is known in prayer (through the confession of wanting salvation from one’s sinful nature, combine with admitting that JESUS CHRIST is LORD and believing in one’s heart that GOD raised HIM from the dead to deliver us from sin's guilt) the world can never take it away because the world didn’t give it to you.

This song brings back memories of me sitting quietly in the chapel at college at the beginning of the Sabbath thirty five years ago, meditating and just loving my Lord. O Lord take me back to those days. I need you Lord, I really do. Please meet me here.

Yes, me too. This song, along with the other Evie songs, brings memories of my college days 30+ years ago-- especially on Sabbath Evening (Friday night) in our boy's dormitory & chapel. But anywhere with Jesus can be our sanctuary for Him to meet us there. God is always waiting for us to meet & converse with Him, Let's remember our appointment each day.

I went to a SDA College in Maryland and this was probably the most popular song back in the 70s. down here in Alabama Oakwood University has a program on Saturday mornings that play music from Mostly former students that include faculty staff or anyone affiliated with or played on campus. while I was getting ready for church this sabbath morning, the moderator played this song performed by a group called 'Special Blend' who were students when I transferred here. there were two girls and 3 guys, the three guys went on to form the group called Take 6. I immediately went to RUclips and picked up my guitar which I hardly ever do. OBTW, the Special Blend version is very nice. this song as well as the singer and writer is forever current and transcends race culture and Geographics. I am confused about the dislikes. how could someone dislike a song so beautiful and peaceful. oh I get it, they are called 'jealous haters'. and Oh, I used to play this on guitar with a really sweet pretty petite African American girl at that Maryland school. she had that song nailed down perfectly. sometimes I would close my eyes while playing with her and I could swear Evie was in the room lo. I forgot her name, I wonder what happened to her?🙂

As a young follower of Christ. This song was so relevant. That one day all the questions will have an answer. Evie, a young woman who loved God enough to walk away from super stardom fame and fortune. So bore witness to me at that time. A real Heroine of the "Faith". God richly bless you dear heart

I heard 1 song back in the late 70's. Her music had been out awhile. I missed it (and others) except for the Mirror album (it doesn't play anymore) then pfft the store stopped carrying Evie albums in Dalton, Ga. Amy Grant everything, Evie nothing. It was the South, and guess where Amy was from? Granted, Amy had some ok stuff, but I couldn't find Evie music anywhere. It was such a dissappointment then, but I find a few of Evie's songs and have a few of her songs sent from friends. Home is the favorite, but this runs a close second. Thank you.

    Meet Me Here
    by Evie
    Album: Gentle Moments
    Organ stopped its playing,
    Everyone's gone home,
    But I'm here,
Wishing that somehow we could meet.
    Preacher stopped his preaching,
    Somehow it goes on,
    In my heart,
    Somehow I feel so incomplete.
    You and me,
    All alone,
    In Your house.
Don't know how to say it,
I guess that I'll just play it,
    I'm here,
    Meet me here.
    Pews and aisles so empty,
    Still You seem so near,
    And I cry,
Hoping that somehow I'd know You.
    Choir stopped its singing,
    Somehow I'm still here,
    And the tears,
Are blinding the eyes that need You.
    You and me,
    All alone,
    In Your house.
Don't know how to say it,
I guess that I'll just play it,
    I'm here,
    Meet me here.
