In Surabaya in our kampung everybody tries to visit everybody plus many would visit their family in other places. We met and mohon maaf lahir batin....with over 100 people in about 2hours. We visited 4 homes. The authorities didn't really restrict people from travelling by car or motorcycle although a few people were turned around to try to make others not want to go, but the fact is, lebaran is so very important to Muslims in Indonesia, very important at least to meet parents and family and to ask forgiveness for any offences whether known or not.

Glad you enjoyed your first Eid. :) Just a little note, "Eid Mubarak" is Arabic for "Happy Eid" (like "Merry Christmas"). The actual holiday is called Eid Al-Fitr or Eid day. So, to use it in a sentence would be something like: On Eid Day, we went to our relatives' houses and we wished everyone "Eid Mubarak!" On the night before Eid, muslims are recommended to recite prayers of Allahu Akbar ("God is Great!) in repetition like the takbir that you heard from the mosques to celebrate our achievements of fasting, doing lots of good deeds in Ramadan.
Lembang in the north of Bandung and Ciwidey in the south are two of the most beautiful places I've been in the world. Bandung is probably the nicest place in Indonesia for me because of the weather, hot during the day, nice and cool in the evening. During new years around Alun-Alun is jam packed!

there was one time me and my brother in bali and we try to shoot fireworks from our villa. my brother doesn't know which direction will the firework shoot. so suddenly he shoots it upside down and the he jump to the pool to stop the firework from blasting again. thankfully I got in all on video and it was so funny.
