Growing up, virtually all of the people I knew who "flexed" like this were broke.
I wear stuff that doesn't carry logos and I'm not rich. You just got to know how to dress. A $200 watch could look like a $5,000 watch if you know what to wear with it.
@@trunksgainz5742 I don't even wear a watch. I'm at a point where my surrounding world gets their skedule after mine. I'm not a rich person, not by far. I'm not poor either. My work has value for other people, that's all. What would be the point in showing off, anyway? There's only one thing that's precious for real: it's someone's health. Everything else means nothing at all.
In the end, they bury these people in a cheap pine box.
Virtually?
shit at least they felt rich in the moment

Wealth doesn’t whisper we just don’t see it often enough to know what it looks like
Absolutely, what a great analogy 👏🏻

My man!. No new cars, designer clothes, or mansions. It reminds me of the phrase in Albert King’s “I’ll play the blues for you”….where he says “I wanna know YOU”
That’s a leap for some people. They wanna know what you have and could care less about you.
@@minniethemouse62 And it's not that I would care that much about someone eating up my money, it's that I don't want to spend time around that kind of person. When you get enough money to see yourself out, you realize how short life is, and you don't want to spend the rest of your life around that kind of person.
My mom always told me to buy the cheapest house in the best neighborhood I could afford. I took her advice. It isn't fun being less well-off than our neighbors, BUT our kid still goes to the same school that their kids do. Your environment really does shape you. I don't regret our real estate choices.
Thank you for the wisdom.
Can be good from that standpoint the only worry is if you are trying to keep up with your neighbours.
The bad thing is if your kid doesn’t fit in with the others and have friends. And I’m not talking about the misfits who also don’t fit in.
Good for you

They usally carry very little cash or no cash. They just put it on a credit card and get the 1-3% cash back with a few other perks. And pay it off at the end of the month in full.

@@joefuentes2977 Sure. She explained that. But you generally wouldn't want to do that, for obvious reasons.
There are wealthy ppl who own these things too though. Imo, judging who's poor or rich based on their appearance or possessions is what's cheap in nature. The only thing I agree on is the bragging to bring others down. (though I'd like to add that sharing one's love/excitement for something is quite diff. than boasting about it in regards to their mannerisms) Otherwise, who cares what ppl choose to spend their money on, if it's what makes them happy. Being happy for others is such a simple concept. Yet, it's so hard for ppl to do.
I actually don’t want to be rich, I want to be comfortable. I also want to be around people that are genuine and have a good soul rather than “fake” people.

I agree with you completely. The problem with a lot of these videos is that they don’t consider the real reason why so many are poor. It’s true that different mindsets create different outcomes, but what about systemic and structural inequalities. Tax non payment for multinational companies, nepotism etc.
These videos are far too simplistic, and blame the poor for their plight. A lot of rich people also have trust funds, utilise the money, then pay taxes in what is left. Most poor people aren’t given their earnings until the state has taken its cut.
@@jaijai5250 balance is needed. You can't expect everyone to be rich and in like manner, you can't expect everyone to be poor. Moreover, God can make anyone rich and He can make anyone poor.

Unimportant people like to impress each other while turning the world to s#%^t
It is good that you are happy and content with what you have. And that's very important, i feel the same way. But it's also important to manifest good things (even wealth) for yourself, instead of saying that you are poor .
Wealth is of the mind, not the pocket.

It's actually a really awful, bitchy, judgmental video.
This reminds me of a sitcom I used to watch "Keeping Up Appearances." The main character was a woman named Mrs. Bucket, who would pretend to be rich when she wasn't, leading to funny situations that would get me laughing at all the pretense.

“You are a walking Billboard for brands” - finally someone said it!! 🙇♂️
Damn. There's nothing I hate more (when it comes to dressing) than being a walking billboard for ANY designer. It seems harder & harder to get away from being an advertisement for any brand.
Agreed. Wearing logo designer wear is advertising for those brands.
Yeah but, then ppl will know fer sure that was Me shining, and not some logo.

Yes! I always ask in the shop how much they will gonna pay me when I wear this free advertisement.
I have a relative who got a nice financial windfall from selling her property. She immediately bought a new home, but spent 100's of thousands of dollars on renovating it. The original house was really cute & simple, it did need a few repairs but nothing major. She went all out on the renovations, spent 5k alone on one countertop, which was marble. She mainly fixed up the living room & kitchen, and had an apartment made in the basement. She blew all of her money on cosmetic repairs to the house, & now she's back at square one. The apartment helps, but she literally took out a loan because the cost of the renovations exceeded the money she received from the sale. So now it's like she has a mortgage again. She really, really screwed up her chance at financial freedom because she wanted to appear rich.
She should be homeless
The ultimate wealth is having a good relationship with God. That makes me feel perfect
I agree. He is the source the very chief source of the good stuff we possess.
But all the pastors worship money. They own jets and have million dollar mansions. Hope god can forgive the when their is so much suffering in this world and they use God to become rich. Smh

I came from a well to do family ! I remember my mom telling us don't wear an arm full of cheap bracelets or have on more then one necklace . Make it simple it can be expensive , but don't draw attention to yourself .She would say see that woman over there with all that jewelry on she wants you to think she is rich or well to do , but she is not .She would say do not flaunt your money . We always lived in a modest house and drove modest cars . People with money never have to charge anything we pay cash for it .She also would tell us don't pile on the makeup or have long nails keep them short and well manicured . Don't wear anything with a designer name on it . A good watch is all the accessory you need . I could go on and on lol...
I absolutely LOVE rich people who look so simple but you get to their house and you're like dammmmnnn!!!
This has taught me to keep it simple. I no longer buy iphones and designer bags. With savings I've bought land and hopefully will start building a house soon.

Yes, this was our landlord when I was a kid. The man owned several appartment buildings, tour busses and a limousine renting business. But when you looked at him you could never guessed that he was a business man. The man dressed in the most simple outfits. A plain t-shirt, jeans and sneakers. And drove a simple car. Nothing flashy. But he had a very beautiful house and in his backyard he had a huge cage with an eagle inside. He was a very humble man.
Congrats

Yes.
I really don’t want to seem like I’m bragging or what, but when my dad met Jimmy Choo (yes, The designer) in person for the first time, it was actually at a Supermarket in Malaysia.
He was all decked out in normal clothes & when he introduced who he was, my dad & him went aside & talked for hours like they were best friends or something.
This happened years ago & they until this day still keep in touch. The amount of times I’ve seen Mr Choo & his fam dressed in normal clothes don’t surprise me anymore & what surprises me more is the amount of wealth he’s surrounded by a lot of the time but really couldn’t care less. He’s a very humble & generous man that truly loves his family & is willing to share knowledge to anyone that’s invested to know more about starting a business, etc.
Very smart.

Reminds me of French author Guy De Maupassant's short story The Necklace. Faking it until making it really is the most appropriate moral lesson from that tale. Imagine, that insecure woman who lost a necklace which she thought was extremely expensive and borrowed from a wealthy schoolmate was actually made of paste after buying the replica of that jewelry and paying off the massive debt she and her husband incurred. All because of her stupid vanities.

I wouldn't call mid 80s Cutlass Supreme a trashy car. Those things in good condition still sell high. The rims at 1:33 do look ghetto as hell, ruining the car, but it's not the car's fault. It's the person driving it. I will agree the 300C is a Walmart Bentley. I haven't heard that before, but I like it.
I'll be the 1st to admit, my wife's 1st engagement ring was really cheap. I'm talking fresh out of basic training, into tech school, gotta get married before I ship to my duty station cheap. So after 24 years, I was happy to upgrade her to a nice 1-carat VVS-1 clarity solitaire setting and a diamond band, and a new plain for myself. It was really pricy, but it is simple, elegant, will last forever, and she loves it. But I still wear jeans from Target, cheap Invicta watches. I wouldn't wanna get jewelry snatched, and then actually go broke defending myself after shooting a criminal who may have tried to shoot me.
I have allways been poor and never had a problem addmitting it...and I also never felt that I am worth less than other people, even though some are trying to give me the felling that they are "better" ,because they are rich.

Agree! I do this all the time and I dress very well. I find high quality (not flashy) clothes at my local high end consignment shop and I bought my Lexus used for a very modest price. I just wanted a premium Toyota that would last. Who cares if it’s second hand if something is quality!

Same here!
I'm not wealthy but I'm comfortable and usually buy things I like regardless of the brand and I like to find beautiful plain dresses so I can paint patterns on them myself and those are the ones I love the most. I dated a guy who was a 53 year old school janitor but if you saw him you would think he is all that but he was living in a basement (clean but small) and he drove a brand new Honda SUV, one day I noticed he is looking at the labels on my jackets and cardigans and he is also looking at my shoes so he asked Ardene? when he saw my shoes and I said yes my beautiful 81 year old grandma (whom I lost a year later) bought those for me because that's all she can afford and I love those shoes more than anything and 3 years later I still have those shoes. I broke up with that man shortly after because he was too much but I could see how clothes are all he has for some status which I really didn't care for.
I was shocked to find that a family at my children’s school who always dressed in named gear head to toe, had the barest of furniture in their house and no money to buy petrol to drive their child 50ks to a school camp. This was in the 90’s and when I became aware that branded clothing was not only the mask of poverty, but the cause.

@@abdelkeddaoui9789 Why buy fake shit if you can’t afford the real? It’s a tad tacky.
I notice this with some college students and some younger people. I see some college students and younger people complaining and moaning about being broke (although some are genuinely broke and sadly struggling for reasons out of their control) but they always manage to have the latest iPhone when their previous one worked perfectly, they are driving a Benz or a BMW, buying Starbucks drinks and other expensive meals everyday, buying the latest expensive brand name clothing, have a new set of nails weekly, and overall living above their means. Mind you living lavishly on an entry level fast food or retail salary. They often times complain about not having a reliable laptop for schooling, money for textbooks or other money for other school supplies. They will also be the first ones to turn their nose up at you for thrifting, hitting up clearance racks, using coupons, budgeting and living comfortably below your means.
Big true.
There is also another angle to this. Sometimes people feel a social pressure to look like they're doing well, just to fit in better with other people who do the same thing. It's a never-ending cycle.
@@alux that's so true I feel constant pressure to show I'm doing well. As they waste my time talking complete utter nonsense I can't relate to, just had to say it. @@iramakhtar4070 I know you didn’t reply to me but I just want to say that the people who don’t accept you for how you dress/the brands you wear, the way you look, the car you drive, etc. are far from the people you want to hang around. I need this quote framed on my wall 😍
The fact that you think this is wisdom scares me.
Which one goes BAW WIT DA BAW DA BANG A DANG DIGGY DIGGY DIGGY WIT DA BOOGIE SAID UPCHUCK THE BOOGIE?
This is not wrong. I make a lot of money (200k+ a year), plus I own 3 rental properties, and I have no problem talking and telling people about it. But I never ask people to give me money, I’m never desperate or screaming about it or doing anything annoying. I also dress modestly and my car is modest. I’m in control of my life. If anything, I’m willing to pay for friends if needed when we go places, cuz I wanna have good life experiences and I’d rather bring friends along even if they can’t afford something. I understand not everyone is gonna have the discipline, motivation, or sometimes IQ to be successful and that’s totally ok. But I’m also proud of my success and I don’t wanna feel like I have to hide it
"its better to be the poorest house in a rich neighborhood than to be the richest house in a poor one" couldnt agree more. this is exactly what my parents would say to me when i was growing up since they would buy the crappiest house in the nicest neighborhood and fix it up eventually making a few hundred grand.
If your goal is to sell it one day then definetely yes, but if you wanna live there long term then no. Living in a poorest house in rich area is almost equal to wearing an entry level brands. Ofc fixing up real estate is not for everyone since you need knowlage for that, and effects of this vary from one country to another due to differences in tax laws
Rich neighborhoods also usually pay higher taxes and you would have mostly expensive stores around your house.
@@sergiubarac1265 I agree with you! Cost of living increases depending on neighbourhood .
The problem with rich neighbourhood is that kids with modest household income could get bullied.
We have done this so many times as well and it always works! We even bought foreclosures and fixed them up. Buy the nicest house in the best neighborhood you can afford and try not to put in more money than you can get back out of it.
Once pointed out a couple to my kids. We were waiting in our car for the street light to change and observed this couple. I look for quality when purchasing, long lasting and comfort is always important in most anything I buy. A lot of big name brands are just that, a name. You can find same product with different or no name on it for much cheaper. I like how they pointed out the difference in designers cheaper brands compared to expensive. Awesome and truthful video. I wish more people understood this. People go online and purposely take pics of their cars and houses so you think they have it going on.
Maybe poor people do some of these things because they enjoy them. I like having $1,000 cash in my wallet. It makes me feel a lot better than when I have no money at all. And if you can’t afford diamonds but you want some sparkly things in your life, well, that’s what rhinestones, sequins, and cubic zirconia were made for. And actually, living in a nice house in a poor neighborhood can make a lot of financial sense. My house is roomy. It has original vintage design elements. The property taxes are low. The neighborhood is historic and has character. There’s a lot of bang for the buck. So if these things don’t make me look rich, oh, drat! I wasn’t trying to look rich.
I don’t see poor or rich I only see characters and hearts like my father who watches over us. Love will win over evil.❤️
As a business man this can be a useful tool to sell products by taking advantage of people’s emotions based on status. Nobody wants to look poor.

I love to collect old vintage video games and thats a passion hobby. But don't expect me to pay 5k for a sealed video game! I rather spend my money on my house, let it sit in accounts drawing interest, and investing! I rarely carry cash these days and really never have. I drive expensive looking cars after someone has lost money first doing so like on a 2016 Hyuandai Genesis. Original price 75k and got it for 18k with 60k miles 4 years later. You can look rich if you're willing to look for deals. My house sits on a beautiful landscape out in the country and the price on my home has risen from 198k to 327k since the beginning of covid-19. No shitty neighbors, no crime, no trashy homes near, and no loud noises.

I realize that the people who are watching this video prioritize material things, and utilize material things to make them happy. I have my fiancé, my two dogs, and the best dad in the world, along side with some of the greatest friends I’ve ever had, whom I consider a part of my family. I have the money to buy the newest iPhone, the newest computer, the newest and best things if I want to, but I don’t need to. Because I am truly happy.

It's definitely better to live in a low profile house in a wealthy neighbourhood. Clothing retailers did not know my family well as it was the wives who purchased and tailored suits. One day my grandfather went to the high end men's store to purchase a tuxedo for his son's wedding, my grandfather had gone to the store after breakfast, the clerk believed that he could not afford the suit based on what he was wearing (his work clothes), what the retailer did not know was that my grandfather owned one of the million dollar companies in town. The retailer was used to broke men and rich wives shopping in the store, they did not know how the actual rich men in town dressed.

Do you know how much money you can make with $250K rather than buying a Lambo or even a 20% down payment for a $1M house? It potentially can allow you to quit your 9-5 job.
But 90% of people wouldn't understand this. They buy a house and become the bank's slave for the next 30 years.
If you want to lose the desire to buy luxurious merchandises, use $100K to produce a 25%-50% return annually. I know it's not easy. It's years to learn. Bad taste is not poverty's privilege. Even though it is true that a lot of middle class people act poorly, one cannot help noticing the snobbish approach of the film creator. The type of behaviour described should be more related to education and personality rather than social status, explaining why the "poor" attitude is so often displayed by rich people. Take for example some wealthy houses in RUclips, sometimes they are poor architecture and design, but they make a good wealth display. And let's not forget "To Be Or To Have".
Middle class people (the "poor" says the snob) tend to replicate rich people because the later impose them selves through culture and direct wealth display in social media and television. And if anyone says that they don't, they are trying to hide the elephant in the room; look around.
A direct consequence of this imposition is that middle class people vote for those who protect the interests of the wealthy with whom they have identified. Why else would they "fake" it then.
