Memphis Drum Shop: we do the best demos
Carter McLean: hold my ride cymbal.
nah mds does not have the best demos, but they are probably the best cymbal dealer there is
Cymbalsonly is the best dealer for me :)
MDS probably has the clearest demos besides Carter
@@gabe1655 Agreed! The fidelity of Carter’s video’s and his demo playing (of cymbals AND drums) are superior to almost anything on the web, including the manufacturers themselves (save Meinl)
@@rushour144 Drum Center NH kinda has better audio
13:41 30th ride is gooood complex sound!! best jazz ride cymbal
3:06 - Super Mario quote lol love it
0:51 that crash gave me life
I kept coming back at the Z old A. It' s got so much history in its sound and it delivers so right.
I have two 20s and a 22" Z. Also the Mel Lewis 22". The Mel has more nuance and subtlety, but those 55 year old Zildjians have that classic, spot on irreducible sound.
Honestly man, I can just listen to your grooves all day long. Besides leaving this comment on the youtubes, I'm getting tons of stuff done while working from home. Thanks for doing these!
Absolutely the most useful example I have ever heard. This as I am shopping for a ride at the moment. Thank you.
would definitely recommend the joey waronker, it'll do most of what you want it to
I just bought the 26" 30th Anniversary ride. Mine is around 3250g, and it is THE most inspiring cymbal to play. You could never describe it as a multi-purpose ride, but wow! Nothing else like it, with that fiery, smokey roaring wash. Amazing.
Phenomenal drummer. I notice when Carter rolls on the toms he goes up the toms usually, not down the toms. Interesting.
That Agop Trash Hit was one of the coolest sounding cymbals I've heard in a while, and that mean old tin pie sounds pretty darn good, too. Your playing is fantastic!
Je pensais pas redevenir fan d’un batteur à 55 ans... après boham et coppland j’ai retrouvé un maître ! Merci c’est inspirant, et vibrant !
Your studio is LITERALLY HEAVEN. Also, I'm just watching every video you have now cause they sound so good and look so good. Thank u
Honestly i would take any ride after 5:24 . they all sound so different , yet so good
I like that ride.
These feature film videos you make are SOO AMAZING. So much to learn every time
Great video, Carter -- thanks for taking the time to put these up. I appreciate that your don't try to play the same thing in the same spot on each ride, but, as far as I can tell, let the ride bring up what it will for you as a player. It's a great window into how a practiced drummer with great feel approaches gear.
Obviously every ride has its own personality, but as I have started recording more I've found that I really like thinner, bigger rides and smaller, thicker rides.
Also, for those of you who haven't gotten it yes, check out Carter's book! I've been spending all week on the first page...
You're doing just phenomenal work here. Making the best of COVID with deep sonic nerdery. Love it
I could study/work/chill to this all day. This is bliss. Thanks man, keep it up
Wonderful video, amazing array of pies, and the best playing I could hope to find. Thanks for making this one Carter. Your videos are the best, and the sound quality is golden.
It is so much pleasure to watch and hear. Thanks!
Of all the drummers available on RUclips, when I want to listen to someone play I go right to your videos. Thanks
That Mel Lewis ride is pretty much what an all-around ride should sound like..
i got the 18 inch crash ride , its a very musical piece of metal , you really get the feeling to buy an instrument with this series !
I got the 21“ Version. Such a Perfect Cymbal
@@sebastianeverding4411want do u think about the 21 Version ?
Had the pleasure of seeing The Mel Lewis Orchestra ft. Mel Tormé at Carnegie Hall 1987.
Mel 22" here. When I go fishing for new sounds I always come back. My vocalist wife says it just has more gears.
Man, I can't tell you how bummed I am at the vintage Zildjian because I was thinking these were all Istanbul and I wasn't watching the screen, but when I heard it I instantly ran back to see what it was.
Istanbul is my favorite modern cymbal maker, but I'm realizing we're never going to beat those 50s/60s Zildjians.
Everything about this is amazing. Thanks Carter.
Totally agree!
Been playing for 52 years...and I have always said, "the man with the most cymbals at the end of day wins." I think you won...and I don't think I have ever seen a better drummer.
I love the sound of those drums man, the tunning is perfect
Always a treat to see you playing, sir.👍
You have such nice touch and feel on the drums. Love to see some transcriptions of you playing time. You play great!
26" Anniversary is incredible. Heard one on a gig before and was blown away
drooling!
Tasty AF cymbals, double as tasty af drumming!
WOW!
Great video. Thanks. The Mel Lewis 21" is my favourite, but the Idris sounds very nice, as does that old Zildjian A.
Love all your vids. Inspiring & just..waay cool 😎 Thank you
It's a revelation getting into acoustic drumming. This presentation is the bomb!
I love the sound you're getting from those sticks! Hope they're being released soon!
What absolutely superb playing.... Fantastic!
that agop 26" sounds just majestic I wish I could try such a big ride, never seen something like it in a shop or elsewhere.
I got mine at Memphis Drum Shop 2 years ago. Its my favorite cymbal. Every time I walk by it I have to stop and play it
And I do believe they have 1 or 2 in stock, or did a month or so ago.
I have the 24 and it’s spectacular. If you can’t justify getting a 26 I highly recommend the 24
It's $880 and it's loud AF
checkout red cymbals traditional 26" ride
Soo sweet bro.. really I love the way you communicate with your kit
I enjoy how you use the potetial of a ride cymbal to the maximum :)
As a die hard Agop man (especially Turk and Special Edition models) I liked the sound of every piece. And that Crazy Chinese ride sounded ridiculous crazy!
now THIS is what i wanted to see
great stuff carter!! lots of talent/work go into making a video like this! hats off!
masterful playing as always
So I love big cymbals, two 24" rides currently. But I cannot believe how much I love that 19" ride!! Holy cow
Well, this is very appropriate - I am actually looking for a ride. Thanks, Carter! Insane as always...
Amazing as always
Wow, nice video. Some nice cymbals there. I like the Agop Signatures.
13:35 The ol' da-na da da-na duh HEY! tag. Classic.
That Vintage A is by far the best to my ears. Lovely!!!
Another Great Demo Carter! You have an amazing collection of cymbals! Always wanted to get a big ride like a 24” or 26” 🤩
You mean the mask? I dont think its considered a symbol. A dove is a symbol, or a cross.
Awesome Carter !!!
This is some really nice playing!
Killer demo!!!
That Mel Lewis is something else. Btw tasty playing
I'll be honest, I just subscribed because I now consider you one of my drum idols 😂. I too have a lot of 50's-70's Zildjian. My favorite is my 22 60's Medium weight ride similar to what you have here too! I have a 50's 22 Light Ride but to washy for me.
I love so much your balans🔥so totaly super cool Man.
Signature 23" fantastic!!!! Makes one week it i bought... HAPPY!!!!! REGARDS from ARGENTINA!!
I was waiting for you to play 24" jazz ride!
I bought that one about 10 years ago and barely played it/never recorded with it
These sounds are utterly gorgeous …
Nice ride and playing. Good stuff.
I could just listen to you play with no other music
That Mel Lewis ride is heaven.Does it all.
Without question best drum channel on RUclips. Fight me.
I found a 26" 30th anniversary and had to do it. It's your fault, as I told my wife. It's amazing! Thanks for the demo.👍👍
I’m a big signature fan, but the Matt Chamberlin and 26” 30 Anniversary rides were also stand outs to me. Any cymbal you play sounds good!
Awesome ride cymbals! Listening to Carter McLean is always a pleasure for me! What a drumming! Only problem for me is I'm not able to play like you :-D
Awesome playing awesome video
i only have a zultan dark energy 22" lol
but I think Istanbul makes the best cymbals on the market
Hey don't be ashamed of your zultan, thay make really good cymbals ! (Also for this price...)
@@carrotsoup7264 Zultan cymbals are made by Turkish for Thomann. They are better than Sabian B8, Paiste PST line and Zildjian S, ZHT, ZXT and ZBT, because they are made of b20 alloy
what a insane selection dude... loved it all.
I love the 19 xist dry and the 23 signature 😍
You sold me on the Idris Muhammed. In fact I just jumped over to Istanbul after being a long holdout. The 20 Turk China was the start.
That sounds awesome
Great vids, extremely musical, you got such a great had at this, blah blah blah. That mask been staring at us for a while.....da hell man. Keep playing, but what up
All good sounding cymbals.
Excellent!
I have a 19" NS12 Meinl thing from the late 80s (I think, that was a long time ago) that sounds remarkably similar to the Crazy Wuhan ride. Best $10 I ever spent.
That 20 crazy Wuhan is incredible
El mejor ! Carter Mc Lean !!
For me my favorites were 22” trad dark, 23” Matt C, and 24” Joey W..but I would find a place somewhere around my kit for that 20” trash hit..unbelievable cymbals!
Why does the no brand tin cymbal lowkey sound the best lmaooooo
Spencer Reynen I wonder what history it has
sounds badass
What the hell you doing with a Corona cymbal?
@@michaelphillippi4676 hm?
Probably because its being played by a master
That Istanbul ride/crash 19 inch one of the best for that price
Man when your listening to this Monster play through monitors.... I wouldn't mind sitting in front of a computer forever!!!!!
Thank you.
I have the 26, but mine is about 10 years old. It is an amazing cymbal, it really sounds great. And that tin cymbal...wow...
That's a dream ride collection.
im on a journey for the perfest ride. probably never find it but what wonderful journey
What mask indeed, great sounds and playing.
That 26” is to die for. What a cymbal.
Your videos make me feel 3 ways
1: I want to go play right now
2: I need to practice
3: throw my drums the fuck out after seeing what you can do
This first 30th 22" is too good to be true. That's it.
Oh man, that tin antique! Whaaaat the.... That thing sounds amazing. Not likely to come across that sound again anytime soon, nice score. I was expecting more, well, ‘tinny’ - but it has a nice stick and a warm crash like a fine thin Turkish bronze. Who knew? Lol, you probably just set the tin cymbal market afire, hijinks and price-gouging will ensue.
B20 is named for the 20% tin content cymbals that people call tinny usually are b10 or b8 with less tin ironically, murat diril even uses b27
Time stamp?
Groove...groove ..groove.groove!!!!
PLAY SO GOOD
Shits is smooth, I love your style man.
They all sound hecka good tho😩🔥
That damn TIN ride sounds so good! wth
That "no brand tin" seems like a Kingston. I just picked one up - hard to find but surprisingly good
I dont care that much about the cymbals. Im just here to enjoy your jams
You’re definitely practicing I can hear it in your playing 💪🙂👍
Hi Carter, awesome job on amazing cymbals, GREAT vid !!!
Please, what are exactly the Istanbul Hi Hat and crash used here ?
Well it's official. My Ludwig Classic Maples need some Agops. Mel Lewis here I come.
The 22" No Brand Tin sounds pretty good. Wish i can afford it :)
