- In this video, I take a complete dud of a guitar
and turn it into a complete beast. You never
know what you can come up with if you just
take a little time and give a little effort. Everyone
can do what I just did. I’m saying what I did
wasn’t anything special anyone can do it. I don’t
do things the conventional way, so I get things done.
I really appreciate you watching if you’re interested in the guitar stand or any of the tools you see me using here’s some links

Sean, you’ve been pumping out a ton of awesome content! We notice all the hard work, and appreciate it!!
I appreciate that!
Man I could only wish your shop was closed to me I can take my guitar in for you to repair 😊 thank you 🙏
Indian laurel is commonly used on budget gutars, it has a wider grain than ebony but I like it, of course you can get good and bad wood of any species, the side wood next to the heart wood has some red streaking and can be used for rosewood replacement but the heartwood itself is black.
You could definitely hear the improvement - your explanations are always clear and concise, and every guitar you work on sounds better afterwards. I always enjoy your videos.
Stevie Ray Shaun
You did a great job on that mini guitar.. 👍👍🇪🇸🇪🇸
With a scale length that short, going to maybe 11 gauge strings will help with intonation, sustain, and tuning stability even more.
I put on 11's
Love the Crocodile Dundee knife for cutting packing tape! 😁
Sanding barrel on a Dremel is how I do my service dog’s nails! So many uses for a Dremel! 😂😂😂
Senorita I'm in trouble again..... and I can't get Free..... Senorita!!!! Damm what a killer "Little Guitar!" Love that little baby! And she sounds killer now. So cool. Making me want to get over to the work-bench and get back on my current project! You always inspire. I might even have to pick one of these up, and use it as a kit. Rock on, Brother!
Just realized, Sean is an "auditory thinker"
. His eyes cut sharply to the left when listens to how a guitar sounds. He's comparing 'sounds of guitars past' to the one he's playing. Auditories make excellent musicians. They can hear and connect with sounds others do not hear/understand.
Sean, I'm listening to the sound demo even as I type, and I can tell you right now that that LyxPro is no student guitar anymore (as if it ever was!). No, NOW it's a full-on travel guitar! You've got me thinking about trying to rescue a mini guitar that I got for the purpose of travel, but it's scale length is too short and it needs strings too thick to be useful to me. I have another travel guitar, so I don't NEED this guy anymore, really. Still, I might like to keep it if I could get it rescaled. I'd settle for 24.75 inches. I might PREFER the 25.5 inch Strat scale length, but I'm not married to it. My woodworking skills really suck, though.
For a while now, Sean, I've been saying that it's not that easy anymore to come up with an actually BAD-sounding cheap pickup these days -- but that LyxPro proves that it's still possible!
Appreciate all the cool videos here lately! My buddy has a similar 30” Amazon kids guitar. It’s branded BY, I think. He got it years ago. I think LyxPro is selling them now with an amp for $50. It’s a black double cut with a single strat pickup. It actually plays really well other than a couple mildly high frets. I’ve been thinking about trying to make a humbucker, 2 point trem, and locking tuners work on one.
Thank you Sean. Your vids are super informative, and regular guys on family budgets really appreciate you!
I appreciate that!
I’ve noticed you’ve been busy. Lots of good videos lately. Keep them coming!
Playing guitar is frustrating enough already, good for you to make that guitar easier to play for them to learn with
Dude, I think that’s awesome you are going to give that to a kid. Sure make playing a lot easier with a damn good guitar. 🤘🏽
Only other thing I would do is change the neck nut with graphite or bone maybe. Actually, been doing same type stuff to cheap guitars, but you’re advancing better than me cause I like to overthink it. So, my friend your inspiration to me. Like your common sense approach to it.
"And if you think I' gonna rub the side of this guitar with pantyhose or anything, you're on the wrong channel". 😂😂😂
To make the neck sit flat in the pocket - THE SCREW HOLES IN THE BODY MUST BE BIGGER THAN THE SCREWS! Else the screws are threading into the body AND/THEN the neck. You only want the screws pulling the NECK to the pocket. I have to drill the holes bigger in the body all the time.
I like those little things, you got it rockin good bro 😎
Awesome job Sean!!! Digging the Videos Brother!
YE HAW DAT THERE WAS SOME MIGHTY FINE TURD POLISHING GREAT JOB LOL
Nicer vid Sean! I was thinkin' maybe putting a wood dowel in that big ol' hole in the neck pocket? Just a thought. Just my OCD kickin' in,lol! Sounds great!
Sean, the wood in that fretboard looks like laurel to me. I have a Donner DST-400 that has that wood, and your fretboard looks a LOT like mine.
I was thinking the same thing!
WE USED ON ON OUR NEW ALBUM AND YOU CAN DO PRETTY COOL STUFF WITH IT.............
Awesome work mate! Guitar sounds and looks incredible. 👏👍
That's funny! I just bought one of these at a local pawn, AND gonna do the same thing to it. Have a little 6 y. o. at home that thinks she's in the band, and her little yuk is just about loved to death. So this'll be the replacement. lol
I made a mini-tele ,from a neck from a Burswood (& bridge),...I made the body from Jarrah ,scratch plate from aluminum checker plate ,stainless control panel...single coil in the neck and humbucker in the bridge....and it Fing screams!!!!
...and it sounds like a tele....
I've been eyeballing a CNZ mini Teleon Amazon. Its def pretty but I'm not expecting quality.
I wanna convert a mini into a 3 string slide guitar.
That little sweety is awesome!
Nice work Sean.
✌👽👍🎸🎼🎵🎶🇺🇸
3rd comment 😂
Any kid that ends up with a properly setup guitar is 100% more likely to just succeed at mastering all aspects, every guitar player I know that sets up their own instruments tend to be the most confident on stage but , it starts with that learning guitar, nice job man as always.
Just finished watching....great job!!!!!
It's so little!!! But sounds so big!
Sean, I love your channel. When are the things I love about it is that it really teaches you about all the components of the guitar and show the fixes that need to be done you do excellent work thank you have a great day!
Right on
Awesome there's a completely new sound
Love what you did with that!
The fret board is purpleheart/amaranth wood.
Awesome!! I can see little Johnnie rockin' out with this bad boy!! LOL Great job!!
Good work! Sounds better for sure, the Tex Mex pickups di it!
That is pretty slick sounding, brother!
I am guessing here but I have noticed that Jacob a is being used as an
Imitation rosewood for these Asian made guitars ,especially the beginners series.
Very cool man! I love it!
Wow what a great sound! So glad I found your guys channel.
The pantyhose comment had me fuckin dying
That would make a great traveling guitar. It will fit in your carry on bag and who cares if it gets a little banged up. 👍
This is awesome
Looks and sounds awesome
Love this video! Keep up the great work. Something so satisfying about taking a cheap or neglected guitar and fixing it up to play great.
Interesting take on the modifications especially since the routing was bad. I modified a Lyxpro 30 but I used Guitarfetish parts for the locking tuners and installed lil killer humbuckers with a coil spitter on a video I did called "Pimp My Telecaster". I do like the small size and light weight of the guitar. I replaced the bridge so did not have too much problem with the intonation and I go lucky on the frets and the neck did not have to be shimmed.
how funny, I got a little kid strat (Audster) currently installing a p90 pickup into it with a Vol and tone pods. All from my Epiphone Les Paul jr. that I upgraded a few yrs back with a Dmarzio humbucker and even installed an original bixby on it.
Love that hat. Looks like it's been to hell and back!
Excellent job again on that kids guitar Sean, you do great work Matey. Take care, Aussie Roger, Over and out !!!!!
How cool does that thing look and sound now! Great job 👏
Thanks! 👍
Dude you are the best guitar channel on youtube. I laugh my ass off every video. Now break them panty hose out 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cool travel guitar as well.
I'd hand any band that I do sound for any guitar you set up
You're alright my man, I wish I was still in Florida I'd hold your camera for an episode and watch your work.
I was subscriber #3 and love this channel
Maybe one day!
I've seen a bunch of Fender pickups come with short ground wires. There must be a reason for it. Maybe you connect it to the bridge ground? Great job on that little guitar. Everyone that plays it will have fun. Well done.
So your not doing "the sock test?" Lol jk. 😂 we can leave that to Phil...
I spit my drink when he said that 😂
Would've loved that little guitar when I was a kid...
Some days ago I bought the same fret file crowning.
I didn't want to spend a lot of money in a fret file.
Lets see how it works when arrive 👌💪👍
I round my frets over with a sanding sponge too saves a ton of time
I thought the panty hose thing was a little much too LMAOO
Great job,Sean,,thanks Mate!
MAN, THat little guitar sounds Dope once you'd changed the pickups. Seems the pickups in all your videos sound much better after you change the pots and pickups.....of course its good to have all the correct tools also..... cheers Matey, Wombat from Aus !!!!!!
You always fix it.👍
I’d take it out & gig with it too. Put the tone pot in it.
I had that happen with a Squier mini Mustang and took it back to guitar center and had to wait a year to get my Ibanez
Thanks For Sharing 🎸🎶 💪
There are lots of wiring diagrams out there and fender has all their diagrams on line for all their guitars. just remove and reconnect each wire at a time between old and new parts and you cant go wrong
Sean, the only thing I would do different is ditch the electrical tape.
Heat shrink tubing is so much better.
Hobo Freight sells a cheap kit.
Even if u buy a 2000 doll guitar. They also are not set up at all. They should have guys like this who no what there doing. And take pride
Tex Mex pickups have that short ground wire. But they sound pretty cool. No baseplate on the bridge pup!
At 5:40 ,lol.
yeah that bald guy is snobby
@@donavanturley7527 Yeah too much upper crust for me too
This is cool
Love the channel man.
Doesn't a shim leave a void between the neck and the body? Seeing that you know your way around a router, wouldn't it be better to route the neck pocket to a propper angle thus making a morebetter connection between the body and the neck? On the other hand, this channel focuses on showing how to repair guitars in a cheap and easy way, so more power to you. The guitar turned out good. Cheers.
rokkin lil tele once it was "scarred" hah!!
im thinkin that hole in the neck pocket is for the paintshop to hang the body so it can be sprayed...
Fender Tex-Mex: maybe the best alnico V pickups set for the price. I put them in a Squier California Telecaster and sounds great.
Then I have a Fender Standard MIM Strat with the strat version of these pickups.
Lot's of work forna kids guitar! but great job!
I got a 3hp router today at a yard sale fo 30 bucks.
Mate I don't think I would have done anything much difrent ti you other than the fact that I don't have the power tools and I would have had to do all the carving type work by hand. but that would be fun anyway. hay another great job man take care from your pal Helcat in Australia.
I like that one
Heck yea!!!
I discovered your channel a few days ago. I haven't seen you fix the nuts on these cheap guitars. No way the nut on this guitar was fine.
I got a Dillon strat that has all fender hardware, nice guitar
No it's not crazy someone can't really learn unless they have something that's completely functional good job!
awesome video, i would love to see more cheap guitar mod videos.
I like it! Awesome work!👍😎🎸🎶
Awesome video. Didn’t miss the panty hose even a little.
Hey Sean, great channel! I’ve got a question. I own that same guitar that I’m using for traveling around with. I’m in the process of routing it. Will that routing bit cut right through the paint without a problem? Thanks
lyx pro makes some decent inexpensive headphones I've used them for monitoring a time or two
hey at least they got the surf green color down
Dang bro you gotta do a complete rebuild ?
man, i wanna get one but i dont have the patience to do all that work!!! i would be cool with the ordinal controls plate if i could get the tone and volume knobs
It could be Ebony but maybe just dark stain, not really sure.😊
I just got to say man, you are one funny son of a bitch but you also know your guitars like nobody's business. Keep up the great work
Some Kia is gonna be psyched.
Nice job, I would guess the repair & update cost more than the guitar but at least you have something that will last your kid until he or she's ready to step up to a full size Guitar. Also it's nice to have good tools BUT they mean nothing without the Artisan's ability to use them, nice video.
Great video. I was wondering how much work would be required for the Lyx mini. The problem is my skill level with routers sux. Did you use the 10 gauge strings?
11's
@@scarmyguitar Thnx.
It was a Teletubby, but now its a straight-up Scarocaster!
Do you ever use a marker on the top of the frets when you are leveling them. I don't know much about working on a guitar, but it looks fun.
Only when I'm leveling a few frets and not all of them at once.
