Tamyra Gray respectfully gave tribute to ALL the greats and then contributed to both Fantasia (I Believe) and Jennifer Hudson (going against Clive and getting dropped literally HANDED JHud quite a few things). I personally for this video would have used Jennifer's audition on Idol or when she was semi intimidated to do I Never Loved A Man back in 05/06 with Aretha sitting in front of her. I personally appreciate JHud soo much more pre-Dreamgirls. She was more hungry to just show her talent while paying homeage to all the ones she looked up to. Instead of building a career on trying to show off (instead of letting her talent speak for itself), being cemented in history for a role and a song that was literally blue printed out for her (tho they try to erase Holliday like it never existed), and meeting and singing for her idols before they die just so she can be the only one 5-10 years later to do every tribute at every award show (since as her own artist, does not sell well...yet has a Hollywood Star for music already)??? Not hating on Jennifer at all.....I just REALLY miss the that girl post Idol that was excited to release her ep Fall 2005.
Yeah I know where you are coming from. By the way I also love Tamyra Gray (AI 1), LaToya London (AI 3), Vonzell Solomon (AI 4) & Syesha Mercado (AI 7). For me they are more of R&B-type divas. Queens as well!
@@iwasborntosing Latoya was great. I think I liked her more as I was watching it. Because when I watch her now (on idol specifically)...just not as "great" as I remember with the exception of a few performances. Syesha and trenyce always (personally) rubbed me the wrong way because I (own opinion) think they were better than they were. I kinda feel the same towards k Locke. Jennifers audition was so omg that she completely gave me wtf with that imagine performance and tbh that's when I stopped watching for real. They did Frenchie dirty and real talk should have brought her back in some way...I mean they bring William Hung back every chance they get and literally no one is asking them to. And I love me some vonzell. So pretty and talented and she grew. And her exit performance was that biggest fuck you and thank u
I don't like Trenyce & Nadia much idk haha they lack the vocal power and soul tbh. I'd rather choose Stephanie Edwards and Li'l Rounds over the two but they lack consistency though. But who can forget the vocal powerhouses Melinda Doolittle and Paris Benett!
I love Jhud but she sings the same. Jhud also is more of an actress now. Fantasia actually had bodies of work. Hits of her own and not on a soundtrack.
Both JHudd and Fantasia have awesome gifts. I've always like JHud's upper range never was a fan of her lower register. I will say I'm not sure who has managed her but they've done an AMAZING job keeping her in the spotlight, having her audition for the right roles, and keeping her mainstream with her audience so she just doesn't cater to black ppl (I hope this makes sense.) HOWEVER....Fantasia is just special!!! From her God given vocal gift to her raw emotion while performing. Fantasia has remained the same (in spirit & gift) since her idol days. She is a treasure to the culture but does not get her just due world wide. She has Oprah/Tyler backing her for a long while and was favored by Simon/Randy (which is God's favor) I pray she gets the role of playing Patti in a movie soon, she would be perfect. I hope she does amazing in The Color Purple movie this Christmas. I thought Tamyra was a doll on idol, very modest. I just started follwing her on sm. Didn't know who she was married to all of this time until now🥰
