Lynzy Lab Performs Viral Song “A Scary Time” (for Boys)

- Today is the International Day of the Girl. The idea of this day is to focus on female leadership to make better lives for girls. The news may have moved off of the Supreme Court confirmation madness but millions of people haven’t. There’s a lot of talk about men not knowing what it’s like to be a woman but some men don’t totally get it. Donald Trump said “This is a very scary time for young men” and in response to that, a teacher from Texas named Lynzy Lab wrote a great song called “A Scary Time” and recorded a video of herself singing it. It is very well done and in the past few days it has racked up tens of millions of views. We invited Lynzy to come to California and perform the song here live for the first time and she graciously accepted.

I'm a large guy. When I used to walk everywhere, if I found myself walking at night and there was a woman also walking in the same direction, I made sure to keep a big distance between us and I usually crossed the street.
I'd make sure to be close enough to come to her aid if she encountered some a-hole but far enough for her not to be worried about me...hopefully.
thats awesome man
Respect and courageous on your part man
Thankyou for that. A couple of years ago, for the first time ever (I'm 50), I saw 2 young guys cross the road to pass me on the street late at night before crossing back to my side once they'd got a bit passed me. I quietly cried in shock and happiness at the kindness. I later asked my (much older) male flatmates if they ever did this for women and they responded angrily that they'd never thought/ or think to do this because 'I'm not a threat', they both said. They were angry and insulted at the very idea. If I can do a snall, easy thing to make someone else less fearful and more comfortable, I'll happily do it. The fact that you and other men are doing this restores my faith in the future for gender relations.
I wonder if she also wrote a song about how men are likely to be homeless, die a lot younger than women, have to work dirty, back breaking, blue collar jobs to support a family, are likely to spend higher time in prison than a woman for the same crime, have to sign up for the military at 18, are told to act like a man and not express feelings, has a higher chance of losing custody to children, and are also just as likely to be abused by their spouse. Yeah men have it so easy.

The fact that the original video has comments disabled on youtube already states that you can just misqualify an entire gender (half of human kind, 3,900,000,000 people) without being openminded to start an healthy discussion
@growlingbehemoth that's the problem with feminism nowadays. Or any discussion for that matter.
@growlingbehemoth u don't understand feminism at all... Yes, there may be some extremists, but that is not what feminism is about. Do look into feminism without a bias based on what ppl have to say about it because it may differ b/w ppl. It is simply for equality between the genders I. E. politically, economically, personally, and socially. These days, many ppl morally feel its wrong to discriminate is based on race, religion, skin etc. It wasn't legally or morally like this in the past. But ppls thoughts changed and are still changing. It is somewhat the same with feminism. I believe that the day ppl can wholeheartedly treat all daughters the same as the sons, same privileges, expectations, punishments, rewards, safety restrictions etc and socially have equality, achieving equality politically n economically will simply follow.

All of the things she expressed were in a pamphlet I was given about girl's personal safety when I went to college. That was 16 years ago, and at the time I took it to heart, was careful and paranoid. I never stopped to think "why does my entire gender need to be warned, why is this so commonplace, why is it up to me to stop myself being attacked, why isn't anyone stopping the attackers?" As a mother of girls I teach them these same things, society chips away at their sense of confidence and security in their world, and I have to help it, because the attackers aren't taught not to attack. Not every man is an attacker, but EVERY WOMAN has to fear the ones that are.

Funny how they have been deleting the dislikes... what
I heard Lynsy sing this song on RUclips a day or so ago, I liked it, but this time I started crying, I was so moved as soon as those first two women came out in support of her. I kept crying as more and more women, and finally those sweet girls, came and stood behind her and beside her. It’s the same way I cried whenever I watched the space shuttle take off and land. It is so powerful to see this kind of expression of hope against such great odds. In one case, it is humanity reaching out to the stars in spite of all our flaws and in the face of a possible catastrophic failure, like the Challenger disaster. In the other, it is women coming together to support each other and create a different, better future, despite the blame and shame and disbelief hailing down upon them. It is the almost impossible idea that some day we may be truly free.
For an ideology that really tries to lift itself up above men and try to say how strong they are, they sure do love playing the victim and act like they have it sooo hard.

What's unsafe or irresponsible about leaving your windows open when home alone or living in a first-floor apartment... ? Or wearing headphones while jogging.. ?
Gin Mae It depends on where you live. If you live in a crime heavy part of a major city, leaving your windows open is extremely irresponsible. If you live in a more rural area...well, a raccoon might climb in, to say nothing of the mosquitoes in the summer.

Wow, dudes rushing to attack this woman are really proving her wrong.
Her song was a reaction to an issue that affects only men. People like her like to dismiss men's issues with the "women have it worse" narrative. We already know terrible things happen to women, but terrible things happen to men too sometimes at the hands of women.
Attacking or disagreeing?
?
Dear Men,
who's comments are starting with a woh is me life hard being a man for X, Y and Z... I'm not saying your issues arnt valid but the one she is discussing should be one thats on your radar too and you should take it personally but not offensively. It's a fact that one and six women will be sexually assaulted in her life time, thats your best friend, thats your girlfriend, thats your mom, thats your aunts. You should hear this song and be enraged that women are being so heavily victimized in this way and that the law nor the government is doing what it should to protect women from this. You should want to put a end to it just as much as women do! because you may not even know it but it probably is in your personal life its probably effected someone you know and love. In no other crime do we ignore, laugh or victim blame so often as a society, no wonder women were so scared to come out for so long. This is a mens issue too that you should be fighting for so hopefully one day your daughter, granddaughter, nieces aren't still a one in six statistic that no one cares to keep safe. Thanks for reading my letter to you :)

Making the entire universe your echo chamber is no solution
I'm a male. I recognize that females have privilege in America and Canada, as they get away with many more things, don't have as strict laws as men, have more rights, more charities, more movements, more social advantages, and when they have problems they're taken seriously and people care.
"Male fragility" as you call it, isn't about men being weak, it's about shaming those who don't agree with them being privileged just because they're men.

First off, I don't see why these can't be mutually-exclusive: why can't guys have their own problems while girls have their own? Also, I'm a "survivor" of sexual assault myself, and also mentally-ill. I would never try to de-legitimize or belittle anyone else's problems just to make myself a victim.
the victim mentality is strong with this one.

I’m thoroughly disgusted by a lot of the comments below... all the excuses, everyone trying to justify why it is just a scary time for men in the world or isn’t a scary time for girls, or bringing up race when it has nothing to do with race... so ridiculous.
I wouldn't say that they are saying that only men have problems. The point is that men have problems, too. Both genders have problems they must face. We need to accept this and help eacb other through our problems or we will all stay divided.
For all you men saying women don't have to do these things, we do. We do them everyday and often don't think about it twice because it's just become normal to us. And we do all these things, and we often still end up harassed and assaulted. But you're right, now that rapists have to take responsibility for their actions it sure is a scary time for boys!

No one is doubting this stuff happens to women, but from what it appears like, you have no clue what men feel like and go through. Especially in a time like now and the past decade.
No I’m a girl and I’m not a feminist or anything of the sort and I think most feminists are taking the most extreme cases and making them seem the norm when men have hardships too. It just doesn’t get any publicity when something happens to a man because its a man he must not have any problems but it’s fine with all this feminism stuff everywhere..
Well this song does incorrectly indicate that only women are more likely to have bad stuff happen if they dont take precautions despite the fact that more violent crimes happen to men and pretends that the complaints about accusations are all from actual rapists and that because theres no way the complaints could have anything to do with just presuming guilt even if the accuser is actually proven to be lying (for example says the assault happened at a party that didnt happen and involved men who were proven to be elsewhere) even saying things like that we cant do anything to proven false accusers because it might discourage actual victims. Then theres case where the man was presumed guilty even when the women a third party claims he assaulted was dating him and denied that an assault took place resulting in the dude getting kicked out of college. But sure all these men are just afraid they wont be able to rape any more, that must be it
You're just assuming the disagreements are men. I'm a woman and never experienced any of this
Also notice how the very video by Lynzy Lab was a response to Trump's statement. ' A scary time for boys' and yet a girl decides to play a song to try and outdo the pain and trouble that falsely accused go through.
She's a girl and yet decided that a man's life experience is less traumatic than a woman's.

The irony is lost on her as someone barely brought up issues faced by men and she had to immediatly bring attention back on women. Shes that girl who goes to a rally for prostate cancer and go "wHaT ABoUt brEaST CanCEr ????". Saying that boys face problems doesnt invalidate your issues. Multiple problems can exist without having to be all about you.
Yeah but when trump said it was a scary time to be a boy he was clearly referring to feminism, not the issues faced by men.
@@JuliaC-sp5qk feminism is part of the problem - it makes women so entitled that they think they can get away with everything, including said false s**ual assault allegations
So damn true bro. And actually I take too seriously breast cancer just like prostate cancer, I mean, as a men I have both prostate and the (small, but still existing) posibility of having breast cancer too.
I hate that feminism is just about making men and women fight each other, cmon, men and women are in the same boat together, without one, the other is doom, feminists are just manchilds (and womanchilds :P) that arent mature, they only want fights and chaos
It is a scary time for guys thank you for agnoligising that😂😂
To a lot of people saying that you’ve seen woman do many of those things.
You’ve missed the point entirely. Many women do wear mini skirts or leave their drink unattended and have no problem. The issue is when they do one of the things she listed and are sexually harassed (or worse). Women often get blamed for what their harasses did under the idea that if she was in a certain place or wore a certain skirt, or behaved in a certain way she must have wanted it to happen.
Many woman will do most (if not all of the things she’s mentioned) and not be harmed. The ones who are harmed are not to blame, the idea that woman should behave in a more cautious manner just because they are woman is becoming outdated. The blame has to be shouldered by the assailant, not the victim.
I love how she diabled comments on her own video

As if being threatened with death/rape every third comment isn't a reason to disable comments
Ava Nightingale acting like anyone’s gonna do that or anyone’s gonna find her. Jesus u femtards are another level of stupidity
nobody’s talking about how men are more likely to be the victim of every single violent act aside sexual assault. (which, as a man who’s lived it, is something that can happen to us too.)
Actually if you factor in Prison and Statutory Rape, men do become the majority of Rape Victims as well. The CDC intentionally leave out Prison and Statutory Rape figures, when presenting statistics.

For the people rallying against the intent of this song on the basis of Lynzy's observations being unrealistic, I say:
Yeah right, I have a daughter and I warn her about pretty much all of those hazards, hating the fact that that's the reality we live in today. I recall when I was about 14 (decades ago), walking down a quiet neighborhood street in the early evening with my older sister and she noted how uncomfortable she would've felt walking in that same path at that same time of day alone. She said she understood that, as a young man, such a fear had never occurred to me but, for a woman, that sort of concern was simply a matter of reality. That really resonated with me and I've never forgotten it. So, yeah, "girls can literally do all those things" but they're not going to feel the same about doing them as a strapping young man who can benchpress a truck.

"In my opinion it's a scary time for both men and women both have troubles and problems and all of this is just divisive. It pins men and women against each other and I don't enjoy that as a woman".
I like this cause it's one of the few comments by a female that is inclusive of both genders.
Exactly, men and women are togheter in this, without one, the other is completely doom.
Amazing song- it describes the hardships of women perfectly
Lurchipoo how?
@@jazzyknight180 It describes a great many foolhardy things to do, and then says that only women could possibly be victims of these moronic behaviors. It's nonsense.

Can you imagine women getting called 'feminazi' in RUclips comments just for 'complaining' about sexism towards their own gender? That's the society we live in.
The irony considering that this video is a response to an innocuous comment saying it's scary world for boys. Yes she's a feminazi.

all the boys shes singing about complaining in the comments lol

This song has a strong point and message, love it!
What’s sickening to think about is all the men on the frontlines in WW1 and WW2 died for a better world and this is how we uphold their dream of a better world

Also your name doesnt add up cause your still defending nonsense
The girl with the "I am your future president" Shirt :) ❤️
ha, no
I love how women can genuinely do all of these things if they wanted to 😂
I love how men like you have no clue because they're too feeble minded to listen or research or put any ounce of effort into empathizing with very real, pervasive issues women face in their own societies, but still have the audacity to make comments like this... Because they have no clue.

bringing this woman on the show is just boosting these extreme feminists to another level that is ridiculous. Yes I am a woman but this song and these lyrics are honestly what is causing a bigger division between 'men and women'.
The last part of this song feels so toxic to me. Especially with the young girls ‘oh yeah it’s not such a scary time for boys’ that’s such a bad mind set to have at such a young age.

I feel the need to share my story, i am currently in year 10 and by the age of 14 i had been pressured for pictures of myself and forced to send others with threat of them being spread my 15 year old friend had been stalked both to her home and online for a year before having to contact the police. Both of these were done by boys in our class. If my friends and i cant feel safe as children in classes with teachers how will it be when we join the real world.
