Seeing Genki feel the chill in the air, I just want to wrap her up in a big blanket to keep her warm...too bad she does not like blankets. I hope the zoo removes the bamboo blinds from the ceiling, to allow as much sunlight as possible to get through to the enclosure during the winter months.

Meus dois amores Kintaro e Genki, eu estou preocupada com a Genki e o Kintaro, o frio no Japão é rigoroso, não imagino um frio assim, moro em um País tropical, que hoje fez 42 graus e sensação térmica de 58 graus, espero que a sala aonde eles ficam e dormem tenha aquecedor, Kintaro é incrível ❤ ele estava preocupado com a mãe, ele vai ficar sempre agarradinho com ela tentando aquece-lá. Amo muito meu lindo príncipe Kintaro e a linda e doce Genki ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

It's not "just a big cage", but an intelligently designed installation which encreases the (unfortunately very limited) space into the third dimension and gives ample opportunity to climb (for foraging, siesta, play), which provides a daily physical exercise. I you compare the actual state of the construction with the state when M. arrived at Kyoto zoo you can see how far they've come. The elder installment was designed from a human POV to the needs of *visitors* (one can see that BTW at Ueno zoo), the present installation is *gorilla*-oriented (as is Nagoya zoo: great indoor facility, large outer space, but IMHO lacking): everything in their compound is at their disposal and they use it as the see fit (even braking/uprooting trees), no electric wiring (an absolute abomination) to be seen. Seing the sky through bars is a small prize to pay - and IMHO more honest than making it look like they'd live in open space.

私も寒がりだから、元気が寒がっているのは可哀想に思います。お汁粉を食べたらポカポカになるけど、10分後には体がまた冷え冷えになります。
