The woodwork is exquisite. They just don't build them like this anymore. It exudes warmth and charm. Somehow they were able to create warm intimate cozy spaces within such an emanse space. Ishowed my children this video .I told them if it was possible , this would be their house one day. For the hide and seek potential, for the room (I have 8 children and for the amount of cooking I could do . There are a lot of parks around and the whole house is a playground. This is how British stately homes must have looked when they were new. I prefer the old look though. I grew up in Aston Birmingham UK an as a child used to visit Aston Hall. A fantastic Jacobean manor. Free to visit too now.

I finally have my dream house. There are large chandeliers in most of the formal rooms and entrances, crown molding, two kitchens, large Greek columns and beautiful wood and marble floors. The first January we lived her the electric bill was almost 800.00. I have men outside now working on a burst water pipe. I wish I had moved into a condo, lol.. I love to look at these large mansions but I wouldn’t want to take care of them. Keep dreaming guys 😊
Quite a grand house. .I love the interior. I have visted a lot of houses like these. However they tend to feel more like a luxiorious hotel than a home. A temporary dwelling. As beautiful as it is. it also exhudes a tinge of loneliness. Seldom is there laughter in these kinds of places. Just lots of regret, anxiety And a feeling of wanting to get out of there more oft than not.
I have never been to any of these houses. But thats exactly what I feel when I look at videos of these houses, a sense of loneliness and also eeriness.
I thought the kitchen prep area would be larger.

This would not look out of place on the edge of a moor in the North of England, or somewhere in the Scottish Highlands. The only part that jarred was the curved staircase as it looks out of place.

Just for a moment, I could pretend this home was mine. Just an observation. Carved on one of the mantles was, and spelled. 'Ad Mortem Fidelis'. Shouldn't it be, 'Fidelis Ad Mortem', 'Faithful Unto Death'? (It's the motto of the New York Police Department, and shows the level of their commitment to their city and its people).
No doubt Coca Cola money and Callanwolde inspired. Truly a diamond in the quarry of rocks of recently constructed Atlanta area mansions.

I would definitely build a wooden bridge....or something larger and much higher....where that little and shallow bridge is located...check with city officials...because that holds back and decreases the value of the house and property.

It's perfect but i couldn't live with a gravel driveway
You'd need to hire a whole crew just to polish all the wood. Five days a week, fifty weeks a year, you'd keep them busy just going room to room, hall to hall, then start all over again.
You could engage a cleaning service weekly. It would be a lot cheaper than hiring household staff. The same could be done for the grounds. I'm not sure how one might best address the utilities but I would not like to see this place ever fall into disrepair. In my mind it's a true architectural treasure.
@@brendahenderson683 I think any less than a crew of five or six working all week wouldn't get the job finished. Window sills alone would take all day and dust bunnies under the beds may soon become dust elephants! That's a lot of wood! 😄

You would need a team of people working around the clock just to keep all that wood clean and dusted. Not to mention the rest of the house.
Georgia labor is cheaper than Massachusetts, New York or Conneticut.
Great looking home. Unfortunately, when you look it up on Bing maps, the placement of the house is really bad. It butts up against another home with no trees between the two homes. No privacy at all in the back of the house. Pity.
Those aren't houses, they are stables. Plenty of privacy unless you have a fear of being naked in front of horses then all would be fine.
Stables, of course. I don't think jww50 leaves the city much...

+Craig Johnson They actually dropped the price down to $3.995 million last month. I think the house is beautiful but at 5.5 million it was way overpriced for that area and it still is. Homes in Vancouver are a lot more expensive per square foot. You can get a ton for your money in Georgia.

Amazingly more affordable to live like a Gilded Age Tycoon in Georgia than it is in the Northeast. No need to be billionaire to live like one in the South.
