The Financial review editor is trying hard to put across the view that his Liberal party big business donors "pay a lot of tax", without admitting that their small tax payments are returned under cover as subsidies. How can anybody take anything printed in the Financial Review as truth?
Its devastating to look at Australia's export policy and how much water we give away in terms of virtual water used in the process of growing food. For a water scarce country we sure do love selling it cheap.
I feel quite sorry for Professor Stiglitz having to suffer a Q&A from this bunch of muppets. Imagine - he states an undeniable fact, and these muppets argue against him.
They sold their souls to their corporate overlords and have to justify the unjustifiable. Like they are going to really win an economic argument with Professor Stiglitz, ridiculous
Because its even too ridiculous for mainstream. The fact q&a couldnt even find someone who knows about inflation to be on the panel shows how little everyone knows
Greeflation. Love it. It’s what we are all thinking. The chairman of Qantas and the CEOs of Cole’s and Woolies can talk about winning back consumer trust and repairing their brands but at the grassroots level where we pay these bills winning that trust back looks for the moment an insurmountable task.
And look at Commbank. $10Bn profit. We paid for that. Greeflation. That market power doesn’t happen in 2 years of labour govt. as Stieglitz said “Neoliberalism” fostered it.
lol I'm loving how all the Liberal member sitting next to Stiglitz can do is sit quietly and look vaguely incredulous as though she secretly understands half of what he's saying and disagrees still. I wish we had more actual experts on these panels to call BS when BS is what needs to be called
Watching the politicians try and do political spin with him there was glorious. It highlighted how off track the politicians are. Astounding. We need better politicians to run. The lifetime politicians just finger point at each other and do nothing. This is why our economy is not productive. Only decent politician there was Lambie.
"If you made them pay their fair share of taxes, you wouldn't have the problems that you have today"...... Never a truer word spoken.

Not to mention the Howard government gift to China of massive amounts of LNG for free till 2030.
