There is the Texas Civil War museum in Ft Worth. Looks similar to the one in this video but includes more artifacts and uniforms. It also includes a very large section of women's apparel during the Civil War. Most of the military uniforms include a large picture of the soldier who wore it. A few are missing sleeves (arms) where they were hit by cannon fire. The one thing that stood out was how small the clothes for the soldiers and the women were.
I’ve heard that’s a great place to visit. I’ll definitely try and make it there. Seeing the pictures of the soldiers add a new element no doubt. Thanks for sharing.
I stopped there myself a few years ago. I remember pulling up in the parking lot and thinking how good could this be? When I got inside we had to sit through a short film. And then let into the museum. Man was I wrong more stuff than you could ever take in for one trip. The one that I thought was memorable was the confederate sharpshooter rifle. For a mere $1,000 dollars in the 1860’s. I even had to go back and see it again a year or two later because I didn’t have a camera to get a picture. Where else are you going to see a used cigar from Grant.?
I visited there also three years ago. I heard they're closing it in December. Because they didn't celebrate Black History so I guess they're being punished. I also thought all the uniforms were very small

The White House of the Confederacy (1201 East Clay Street) was built in 1818 for Dr. John Brockenbrough and was designed by Robert Mills, one of America' greatest architects. The City of Richmond leased the home to the Confederate government for use as the president's mansion. After the war, the house was turned into a public school and later was nearly demolished. It was turned into a museum in 1896, with each Confederate state (plus Maryland and Kentucky) given its own room. Each room had a docent to oversee the state's Civil War relics that were displayed inside glass vitrines. Today the mansion has been restored to the way it looked when Davis lived there. Richmond is a fascinating city!

My opinion, it was lame that the former museum (of the Confederacy) established to study and honor the Confederacy.. has been swapped out.. and recreated as a museum to study the Union army who destroyed the Southern Independence effort. There were already other institutions devoted to holistically studying the Civil War. When the Museum of the Confederacy folded for ideological reasons, it abandoned its unique and original purpose.
The surrender was done by a general who was friends and college buddies with Sherman and Grant who both owned slave while Lee owned no slave. When Grant decided to run for the office of the president he had to basically force Sherman to free his slaves 2 years after the traitorous surrender by Lee. Lee never had his heart in the idea of the tenth amendment. Lee was a federal guy that obviously believed that a federal government should rule supreme. All southern born and raised should ask themselves if having a federal government ruling supreme to the states is a good thing every time April 15th rolls around. The American constitution is just a piece of paper that’s only observed when it benefits the elitist career Politican’s and every single democrat. It’s strange how the political party’s have changed since the civil war. Democrats are today a pro socialist big controlling government party while the republican party that was responsible for the invasion of the CSA are the small federal government that has limited powers giving supreme power to the states. The party of Lincoln switched and the party of Robert E. Lee the democrats switched. Strange, I’d bet if Lincoln could have seen the problems he would cause the union today he would have never invaded a sovereign nation. The only way for the American continent avoid another bloody civil war is to separate and divorce, let the blue liberal dominated socialist states have their own country that’s independent from the RED states and understand The new union of red states will never grant them any aid whatsoever. True Americans are so sick and tired of blue states establishing laws that affect them that they are millions hoping for a leader to rise up and lead a true and armed insurrection.
If you are going to be a military historian, you must learn the difference between cavalry and calvary. Cavalry is the eyes and ears of the manuever commander. Calvary is the hill where Jesus died.

Anyone notice the similarities between Lincoln's war of aggression and the war in Ukraine? An invading army with superior numbers making war on defenseless women and children led by an egotistical tyrant.
Yes I have noticed the same thing you did. Too bad the South didn't have a strong country to help us during Lincolns war on the South, like Ukraine does.
Everyone thinks Lincoln freed the slaves but originally offered the south to keep their slaves if they joined the union it was only after moral was failing that he put forth the motion for what alot of people know him for or atleast they think they do
I used to be a member Museum Confederacy back in the 80s I guess they went politically correct I gave several donations to restore the White House and the Confederacy I was there for the grand opening in 1988 very disappointed all the carpetbaggers in Northern Virginia destroying our beautiful monuments and history
Please before you put something on the internet do your research. The cannon was a 6pd James Rifle, the Round you had shown was not canister it was called a shell two different rounds. "So cool" "really cool" "very cool". Great vocabulary
Thanks! History after all is super cool. I thinks it’s really cool that you watched this video and it’s very cool that you commented! Thanks for stopping by. Hope you stay cool this upcoming summer!
@@ProjectPast1565 Jackass!!!
Bro you grammar nazis are not very cool
Have you been to the national cemetery in Chattanooga home to the graves of andrews raiders
I have not but it’s on the list to visit.
They're too busy in Chattanooga worshipping trump...
I do a lot of metal detectors. I found some hard tackk. Of course , it was black , and I gave a signal of lead could never figure out why it gave the signal of lead it was found in sandy soil
I was there in 2012 and the museum was so much better then. A lot more artifacts then compared to this display.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I do believe they rotate exhibits and artifacts to show a different topics and battles throughout the war.
Calvary vs Cavalry ... seems important to make the difference.
If you’re not making mistakes, you’re not learning. Thanks for watching!
If I understand correctly the reason the north just burned the south down. Was to prevent them from trying it again
Was this museum previously called the Confederate Museum? Located across from the Confederate White House.
I’m not sure honestly. This one is near Tredegar Iron works building near the James river.
Yes. It was closed and the artifacts were moved to historic Tredegar Ironworks.
I went to the Tredegar Iron Works too. It wasn’t far away.
@@davidlaforest797 then this may be it
@@ProjectPast1565 Listen, you need to prepare a great deal more before reading in a monotone, mis-reading labels on the displays, and winging it on you own and not getting your facts straight. BTW.......that is the replacement for the old Confederate Museum that stood next to my old alma mater, then referred to as MCV.
The history of the building should not be a matter of guesswork by you, especially since you request financial support. For that you need to be much more professional in you knowledge and preparation. I watched with the audio off since you speak at a Junior High School Level. Not many will choose to pay for amature hour.
They better build on to that museum cause a second civil war is coming.
January 6th? Haha those maga hat wearing idiots failed hahaha trump's meltdown after losing was epic...
Democrats can squeeze a trigger too...trump is a one term twice impeached liar draft dodger who mocked solders dying in Vietnam bragging on his millionaire status. Then the coward refuses to leave office after losing the 2020 election to President Elect Joe Biden...
Your comment on civil war has been reported for promoting violence and civil disobedience...
You'll love Russian tea...sip slowly!
Actually the Crimean war of 1854 was the first war to be photographed.
You’re 100% correct. Oversight on my part. This was the first American conflict photographed and published in news papers.
@@ProjectPast1565 I've seen people asking "What woul happen if the Confederates had won?" Erm, a Democratic government with a puppet in charge? I don't think in the end there'd have been much difference over a long period of time.
those are not spurs in the r.e. lee display. they are horse bits.
It was the Mexican American War of 1846 til 1848 that was the first to br photographed.
Yup that’s the correction I have in the description. Thanks for watching 🤙
Nope, the Mexican American war, Crimeian war and the Indian mutiny (Sepoy mutiny) were the first conflicts to be photographed.
Días e tempos difíceis si aproxima da América é preciso sabedoria para vencer tais días e tempos
With respect the Crimean War was the first war to be properly photographed.
You’re absolutely correct. I misspoke. I have a correction listed in the description
Living in Northern VA thinking wow im sleeping where a soldier died
I thought jenny wade was the only civilian woman killed but that just said that lady's mother was killed during that battle?????
Jenny Wade was the only civilian killed during the battle of Gettysburg in 1863.
Thousands of Southern civilians were killed during Lincolns war and not by accident.
Are they still allowed in today's Virginia?
Ummm yes?
If you are going to be a military historian, you must learn the difference between cavalry and calvary.
Cavalry is the eyes and ears of the manuever commander.
Calvary is the hill where Jesus died.
I’m not a military historian. Let’s make that clear 😂
I’m well aware of the difference sometimes it just comes out wrong. My mistake.
The Crimean War 1854 -56 was the first photographed war.
Was this not the Confederate museum? Just had to change the name to make the public feel better?
I believe at one time it was
@Project_Past Did the Confederate White House have the name changed too?
@@markchapman3021 nope, it’s still called the White House of the confederacy. On my list of places to visit.
@@ProjectPast1565 I was there about 30 years ago when the Confederate museum was next door. I have wanted to visit again. Thanks for the info!
@@markchapman3021 I heard it’s well done and super informative!
❤️❤️❤️
The question I have, who financed this war???
Ahhh, you guessed right.
Seriously, if “Cool!” and “Very cool!” are the only words you have to describe your level of interest, I suggest you get a thesaurus to put some variety into your comments. I was sick of the word long before 5 minutes passed, but I tried to hang in there.
I’m not afraid to admit that I didn’t narrate this video well. However, history is pretty dang cool.
Those are all replicas I was told by my grandmother
The camera moves too fast.
Zouves it's mean Algerians French Army
Is this not the Museum of the Confederacy that you changed the name. Which all of the artifacts were given by the southern people you changed the name and tell how the south was evil and the north was the savior
I didn’t change anything.
In November 2013, the Museum of the Confederacy and the American Civil War Center at Tredegar merged, creating the American Civil War Museum.
You know the difference between “cavalry” and “Calvary,” right?
Trench warfare. Dress rehearsal for WW1.
I don't know the background of the guide but he needs to research the place and get a better grasp of the war. "Cool" is outdated and should be used sparingly. I have visited the museum and found it interesting. I hope it stays open
Definitely not my best video narration wise. This video was made early on in my journey. I’d like to think I’ve grown and learned from this point. Check out some of my newer videos and see for yourself.
Dude, those are carbines for Calvary. I thought you were a Civil War buff (or any war for that matter)?
I’ve never seen those 2 types of carbines especially with a telescopic sight on them. It’s was pretty interesting to see all the different variations. Way different than the standard sharps and Spencer carbines.
Hahaha trump lost!!! January 6
Cavalry, not Calvary where Jesus died.
The Museum of the Confederacy has been ruined. But I suppose that was the goal.
Major General William Dorsey PENDER..
WTF Frederick Douglass in every frame
I think your definition of every is a bit different than everyone else’s.
Sorry but the crimmeon war was the first war to be photo graphed but the civil war was more intensely covered by photography
It was actually the Mexican American war oddly enough.
Everyone thinks Lincoln freed the slaves but originally offered the south to keep their slaves if they joined the union it was only after moral was failing that he put forth the motion for what alot of people know him for or atleast they think they do
A chain from a pocket watch?! Hahaha did he use a wall mounted clock as a pocket watch?? Was this guy 20 feet tall?? 😂
I used to be a member Museum Confederacy back in the 80s I guess they went politically correct I gave several donations to restore the White House and the Confederacy I was there for the grand opening in 1988 very disappointed all the carpetbaggers in Northern Virginia destroying our beautiful monuments and history
The female soldier looked like Lincoln in drag. Not sure which is more threatening.
😂😂
Please before you put something on the internet do your research. The cannon was a 6pd James Rifle, the Round you had shown was not canister it was called a shell two different rounds. If the museum has signs up stating what you said about those the museum is wrong. Direct your attention to feld artillery books of the civil war and others near that period
Cool, thanks for the info. I’ve learned a ton since this video.
Military units with horses were called
C A V A L R Y...not calvary.
No matter how many times I remind myself of that it comes out Calvary.

And they don't have one Statue of none of the generals that's how boring they are in that museum
No statues but they do have literal personal possessions from those generals.
