Searching for Captain Henry Fuller at Gettysburg: Battlefield Chronicles Trailer
The monument to Union Captain Henry Fuller is deep in the Rose Woods south of the Wheatfield at Gettysburg. There are no designated trails or paths down to his monument. Because of this, it's one of the least visited monuments on the battlefield. Fuller was the commander of Company F of the 64th New York Infantry Regiment. He was killed on July 2, 1863 as the 64th New York, of Brooke's Brigade, was retreating through Rose's Woods towards the Wheatfield.

The fighting would resume on September 20th, with coordinated Confederate attacks on the Union left flank. About an hour later, Union General William Rosecrans, believing a gap exists in his line, orders Brig. Gen. Thomas Wood’s division to fill it. Wood, however, knows that the order is a mistake. Wood immediately moves, creating a division-wide hole in the Union line. As the last of Wood's me...

Nice work
Great video and great meeting you on Saturday. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thanks Lewis! I appreciate your time and thanks for watching. I’ll be sending you an email once I get home.
Sounds good, travel safely
According to past, and present park rangers the bridge was downstream about 100 yards during the time of the battle.
I've been back to that marker several times. Nice little hike along the abandoned electric railway line and then a short path (hard to find in full foliage) to the marker.
Was an honor to meet you yesterday! And another stellar video, I have been enjoying the personal stories of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Looking forward to more content and maybe running into you again when we have time to break bread and toast those who have gone before us!
@@GhostofSicklesleg it was great meeting you ghost! We definitely need to cross paths again. Thanks for the support!
Climbed it a couple days ago! It's very deceiving on how much the hill angles up!
Such a well done video covering Captain Fuller. Really enjoyed the format and content. Honored to be a small part of it. HistoryFix is a great platform.
@@DustinWiseM1 huge shoutout to my spider catcher/assistant Dustin. Thanks for everything bud.
The battlefield of Gettysburg is beautiful and sad all at the same time. As an amateur military historian, I've forgotten how many trips I made to that place before I learned I had relatives who took part in the Pickett-Pettigrew-Trimble charge on the third day of the battle. Thanks for taking the time to produce these well-done videos...much appreciated!
Gettysburg is a beautiful place. I actually just discovered that I had an ancestor who fought here. I’ve unknowingly walked on the same ground he fought on and didn’t realize it until now. Now it’s even more special to me. Thanks for watching.
Thanks hope you enjoyed you're get out of the😅 🚗 tour

Another excellent intro James... your style and mastery brings immediate life to your videos... they keep getting better and better railing and exposing the intensity of the rare true facts... your work and attention to presenting in great detail is commendable. I LOOK FORWARD TO ALL YOUR PRESENTATIOONS AND MORE ABOUT HENRY FULLER.
Thanks Carson. I’m so grateful for your support!
October 19, 2024 getting ready to walk Picketts Charge (I know it’s a bunch of units) Never walked it before, and will be listening to your narrative as I walk! Love your content
Thanks ghost! I’m in town and attending the get out of the car tour!
As a man who had family that fought in this war in the 17h Vermont from March 1864-July 1865 this just angers me to see. I’m glad Wirtz was h*nged for this! Even watching the film a Andersonville was pretty spot on.
Thx,for covering these historical facts.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video just spent 2 days on the chickamauga battlefield used your videos as my tour guide really enhanced my visit to the battle field thank u very much
@@joewhitaker7602 so happy to hear that Joe! Hope they helped your visit. Thanks for watching.
Yeah, it must have been horrible with 80,000 Union troops meeting 38,000 Confederate troops in an open field outside of Sharpsburg Maryland. Especially since the Union soldiers were better armed than the untrained Confederates.
I’d say nearly 23,000 casualties in a single day is pretty horrible regardless of how you want to view the battle or who had the advantage.
I cannot remain through the entire series, but I have been greatly enlightened by every one that I have seen. This has been a binge. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THEM! Also I am grateful for the map service that has provided enlightenment for the segments.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate your time.
Really love this series. The details you put into the narrative. Keep up the great work
Thanks Larry! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the series.
Awesome series you are doing. I have to agree with what someone else said, you do a better narrative than most other historians. I dont understand why you dont have 100K followers or more
@@TribeTaz I really appreciate you watching and for such high praise. I’m grateful for your support on here and on Patreon. It truly means a lot to me. Thanks Larry.
Why in the world would the mapping service break mapping convention by placing North at the bottom of the maps? This was confusing by showing the Confederate attacks from the right and inverting the Union Right and Left.
This unit suffered 61% casualty rate! Wow were they brave!
You were waling in a "Swale"
I like your camera work on the terrain lets the viewer imagine the battle, smooth transitions, 4K, great storytelling. 👏👏
Appreciate the kind words. Thanks for watching!
The second Rhode Island that takes readout 10 now you do call them Americans and I agree but I keep waiting for you to point out that this Rhode Island group for African-Americans mostly because Rhode Island couldn't muster up enough to fill their ranks but these African Americans prove their weight more than once many times
Where did the "Little Giant" moniker come from?
I’ve heard it had a few origins. One was that his division was slightly oversized and the other came early in the war, the General led Confederate forces at the battles of Shiloh, Perryville and Murfreesboro, where the troops under Stewart picked up their nickname "the little giant division" for their actions in destroying Union General Philip Sheridan's stand on the right flank.
One of the Union Troops Trapped on the side of Pigeon Hill said, "if one wanted a furlough all they had to do was exposed a hand or a foot and the Johnny's would put a ball though it !"

My ancestors were here, four brothers. Company H 32nd Georgia infantry. A few were supposedly injured during the battle, possibly during the charge to capture several guns.
Also the official report by the officer Leading the rail car said it was a 30pdr Parrott. He said he wasn’t sure if his shells had any effect. The battle of olustee website has official correspondence from the official records, and personal letters.

Every assault Lee made cost the CSA more than it cost the Union. He sacrificed the lives of 1000s and killed 1000s and caused the misery of millions for no possible winning outcome. And he either knew or he was the stupidest most stubborn general delivered by the Civil War.
