My husband and I did the same thing. We bought a house with his parents! Terrible idea and we are looking to move out within the year. We didn't plan we just dove right in and I regret being so foolish! Ugh, live and learn!

I was always dead set against moving in with the kids. I am 64 and my husband died last year. My plan was to buy a van and go live in that. But when I couldn't find a van at the price I wanted, my daughter in law said come live with us for awhile and work this out over time. So That is what I plan to do. It will be a really tight squeeze, but only till I find a good van to trick out. I sold my car and mobile home in a park. I hope to build on that in the next 6 months.

We have to change the idea of retirement. People are retiring too early and running out of money

I gave my mom the whole upstairs when she lived with me. There was a room, full bathroom, and living room area for her to decorate etc if she wanted to.

You were fortunate she could use the stairs.
