My friend and I recovered a really nice boat in Florida about 12 years ago. It was a 25' fiberglass that sank for unknown reasons since the body was 100%. It was in 55' of water. We showed up with a 23' fishing boat and dove down, drilled into 4 points where we attached inflatable bags, inflated and watched it go up 50' in about 3 minutes, as smooth as if it was flying. Once up, we attached 4 larger inflatables so that the boat was 2 inches out of the water. We pumped it out and towed it home.It took 3 hours total, using simple hand tools and a 5 hp Honda drain pump.
one thing i noticed is that both engines were in the full throttle position if you look at the controls. They were set in the forward position. Seems odd. The damage on the hull in front and the controls in the wide open seem like it hit something like rocks but doesnt seem to ne any around like i said just odd.
He could be new to RUclips, and did not notice the "show more". I was also unfamiliar, at one time, though no doubt you always saw everything and you, of course, were never "an idiot"; must be nice. But you are right of course to never be courteous, miss your chance to sit in the shadows from your little desk and call other men names. And being that "smart" you would never do it--in person. Am I calling you "a weeny"? No, I don't call fellow adults? names--but others reading what you wrote, they might come to that all on their own.
with a standard certification you can dive 130, pressure wouldn't be a problem at 150 ft but you would need to use special mixtures in your tank to go that deep
*ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION REPORT* An expert team of three marine engineers and an insurance fraud agent conducted a thorough examination of the boat and events leading to the accident, including the questioning of an eyewitness who was fishing nearby. The enquiry discovered that the 43 foot cruiser eventually sank without loss of life when: Air within the hull was displaced by water.
Am I assuming that this boat is scrap? By not using spreader beams the angle of the straps on the bow did additional compression damage to the bow. I understand the conditions of working in 150 feet of water.
The "Salvers" finished totaling the boat. They failed to use spreader bars to prevent the straps and belt from crushing in the hull, deck and control cockpit. They also failed to place dunnage between the straps and the keel to prevent lift damage. "Salvers" failed to bail out the boat as it started to meet the water level out side the boat in order to lighten the vessel and place less load on the belts and straps and hull. All in all this was a demolition team whom received payment, if any, in destroying a pleasure boat. I would sue the salver for inappropriate operation and they did not know what they were doing. Any one can use a crane to lift a boat but there are means and procedures to to lifting in order to mitigate damages, and only a real salvage company/team, etc. should have been called in.
Looking at the video again I also saw that the the bow keel was damaged. If this was the cause of the sinking then a temporary patch should have been placed to prevent water form continuing to enter the hull. or was this damage caused by the belt and lack of dunnage bags to protect, not allowing the heavy weight spread over a 4-5 inch wide belt or thin wire.
I agree. Most people seem to think they need backing music when they make a video. I guess it's to offset the possibility that they're boring narrators or inept film-makers.
If you look along the sheer of bigger boats, you'll see that there are marked points called "sling". The layup is beefed up between the two closest stations to spread the load.
For Sale: “One owner, slightly used 40’ yacht with one-of-a-kind natural ventilation system installed over V-berth. Call quick, this one won’t last long.”
Might be good to read the description.... "Fitzco Marine Co. recovered a 43ft Cruiser that sunk 150 ft underwater. The boat was stolen and run into a bluff. Recovered for insurance purposes and for investigative evidence."
First, that thing isn't 43 feet. Second, that's not 150 feet of water if you're standing 30 yards from the shoreline. But third, that's nice of you to clean up the ocean. At least you can junk the boat and get paid a bit for it.
I don’t see the point in recovering a vessel with that much hull & bow damage honestly, even if it is a 40ft+ vessel. If it’s insured the insurance company will most likely total out the boat especially since it has water damage along with the structural damage. I’m sure the fish will get more use out of it now than the owner would.
CPG Berks Cat Bill they didn't Salvage it for the value of the vessel. They they salvaged it because of the environmental impacts of the fuel and oil leaking into the water to get it out of there
That is what I thought as well... Hopefully they recovered most of the Oils/ fluids before it could seep out into the environment .. the boat itself is obviously Toast .
I think that at least the diver's head covering should be fluorescent yellow, silver or orange, like life vests are. Watching those boats running around the wreck after it was lifted with the divers bobbing on the surface looked like a killing waiting to happen. Those spinning props. even at slow speeds cut like a knife and can slap on a bone or skull hard enough to shatter it. Please review your safety procedures before each dive, assign someone to be the safety officer and give them a megaphone to get the attention of the boat operators. Fire trucks blow their horns to signal their personnel after radioing them to leave a building and I think some similar noise maker should be used to get the attention of the boat operators to cut their engines until all the divers on the surface are out of the water. Going to the funeral of a friend or co-worker sucks especially if you have to explain to their family how you accidently killed them.
I like the first guy you see, hat turned backwards and face fried from the sun. I know this is a highly technical question, but do the experts think there is a connection between wearing the latest fad--hat backwards and a sun burnt face?
Looks more like a 20 to 25 footer, doesnt look 150 feet deep either, but the worst part, aside from providing zero information about the boat, where you found it, or how you got it up, is the godawful guitar thrashing during the whole video. Thumbs down for innaccuracy cause i dont wanna call anybody a liar who might just be stupid.
"Recovered as evidence". Probably $10K to recover. Prosecution:: "Was this the boat that was stolen?" Defense:: "Yes" Prosecution:: "Rests" Our Tax dollars hard at work.
Divers could have taken photos and gotten serial numbers in one dive and accomplished the same task for 10 percent of the cost. Somebody's palm got greased.
I was wondering he same. Doesn't seem like the repairs would be less than the cost of another similar vessel in similar (pre wreck) condition. But, at the top they said it was to recover it, as evidence.

Should of filmed it would of been cool to see.
Umaxen 00 what kind of bags did you use
Umaxen 00 hahaha i want proof
I don't buy into sinking "for unknown reasons"...
That’s sick!
For sale, like new, fresh paint, cleanest you'll find, previous light water damage from defective bilge pump. Won't last long, Call for price.
Right,,, dial BR 549 and ask for Jr.,
I like the video because its fast and does not plod along. Thanks.
Get some of that spray stuff that the guy on TV used to make a screen door into a boat. Worked well for him.
HAHAHAHA!! I'm dead! you mean flexseal!
that stuff IS SHIT DONT WORK IVE TRIED THAT
USELESS

Read the description, idiot.

He's the idiot now :)
A very nice salvage operation to remove the wreck littering the seabed.
And yet you can find dozens and dozens of videos of ship being sunk to provide reef habitat. Ironic, isn't it?
@@bgrigg07 If only they'd sink where they're needed (after having all contaniments removed!)...
Always wondered how they recovered boats that big that sank. Great video.
Learn how to speak concise english, please.
Is it possible for scuba divers too dive that deep 150 feet in regular scuba gear? Isn't that too deep too much pressure?
with a standard certification you can dive 130, pressure wouldn't be a problem at 150 ft but you would need to use special mixtures in your tank to go that deep
Look like a WILD weekend!!

Wow. That's crazy

CAN DEF DO WITHOUT THE MUSIC
Why is the original sound mixed with horrible and loud 'music'?
Assume it has to be salvaged and maybe I’m a dumb azz, but 150 deep seems to be a huge depth compared to the proximity to land that is shown?

Insurance job...
Sad, a total loss....

Cost of repair & salvage vs buying another boat?
Good show, old boy! Best of luck!
Have no idea why we need music with this vid, why not talk about the process of recovery?
I agree. Most people seem to think they need backing music when they make a video. I guess it's to offset the possibility that they're boring narrators or inept film-makers.
The music is horrible indeed, I stopped watching and disliked the video.
Because 330 subs lol
I mute the audio, loud obnoxious music means they have nothing meaningful to say.
Did they find out why it sunk.it looked pretty good still ,just a few spots.must a been a heck of an impact whatever it hit.
How do they lift these big heavy boats without the slings cutting thru the hull?
If you look along the sheer of bigger boats, you'll see that there are marked points called "sling". The layup is beefed up between the two closest stations to spread the load.
Was it worth the trouble?
For Sale: “One owner, slightly used 40’ yacht with one-of-a-kind natural ventilation system installed over V-berth. Call quick, this one won’t last long.”
This was my uncle's boat. He loved it.
Why
Remove the trash from the water...
Hopefully reduce oil and fuel spill into the water.
And for the court case against the thieves that wrecked it.
F Huber seems costly still
Kef103 costlyy ?? All they did was use a winch
Drunk
Nothing Flex Seal can’t fix!
What did it hit
Wtf did he hit?
Thank you for sharing that that was a really cool video!!
No that was a wellcraft portofino one of my favorite boats!!! I'd buy it cheap for maybe a few thousand and fix it
Perfectly fixable. If it's not rotted, you can fix it.
As much as I like Portofino's you'd have to be a Glutton for punishment.
Wow that thing was messed up. Good job on the recovery.
That boat wasn't down a hundred fifty feet
Nor was it a 43 foot boat.
@@HammondOfTexas0 Now did they recover it in 2:12 min
It also was not 43 feet long
@@oldgar9 That boat is a 43 Ft. Wellcraft Portofino built in Sarasota Florida. I know because I worked there for 25 years.

Should name it Luca Brasi , it swims with the fishes
"RAMMING SPEED!"
Did they fully drain the boat once out of water?
That boat was not worth the cost of recovery. Must be a hurricane clean up effort, otherwise not worth it
Might be good to read the description.... "Fitzco Marine Co. recovered a 43ft Cruiser that sunk 150 ft underwater. The boat was stolen and run into a bluff. Recovered for insurance purposes and for investigative evidence."
its always worth it
How long was that boat down there?
This work is exhausting, but with real satisfaction
Looks like a good days work. Good job, fellas!
To me this is a bad lift. It damaged the boat taking it out. Air bags should have been used first.

Late 1980s Wellcraft Portofino 43'
Why?
great parts boat :D a lil duct tape n fibreglass patch n she'll float lol
The parts I would want are the propellers and rudders since those are reuseable on another boat.
I guess they had NO SPREADERS? WTF?
another boat bites the dust!
Why do they bother? The damn thing probably isn't worth the cost of pulling it out!

Becuse it was stolen and there was an ongoing police and insurance investigation. they literally spell it out for you in the description.
The repairs to this boat would run 200,000 K. What's the point, except as a parts salvage??
Ah, the joys of boating.........
Ok, good video, but what happened to the boat? Scrap or Repair?
Its scrap
43' Cruiser for sale, only 100 hours on the motor and generator, like new!
one careful owner !!
should have left that on the bottom...
No way! That will be good in a museum
Yeah should’ve left it to make a nice reef or something
Why recover a boat in that shape? Didn't look to be 43 feet.
Nice find
That'll buff out;)
Good job
unless that boat went down in fresh water there's no way it was worth that salvage

150ft???
What happened.....
Insurance scam is my guess...
That damage looked real, not a scam.
43 ft.????
Well that is going to take a while to get it restarted
SOS pad and some paper towels. And she's back to cruising.
sure that is a 43 ft?
So many marine salvage experts in this comments section 😂
U guys got it all wrong it's a convertible submarine
My boat also sank(JAPAN)
