"The Rubicon" for orchestra- Stephen Wood

This piece is based on the fateful decision by Julius Caesar to cross the river Rubicon with his army, invading Rome and destroying the Republic.

An appropriate and beautiful redux of a much earlier composition, this reconsideration of heroic themes has been trimmed from its earlier incarnation into a more concise interpretation. Though it references crossing a much different body of water, the heroic themes of ”Rubicon” shine through, sans the middle section of an earlier version.
