  • I unbox my new Karcher WD4 Wet/Dry vacuum I bought from Amazon.ca. I assemble the vacuum on camera, go over all it's features and any issues I have with it and then I show you it in real world use sucking up both dry dirt and water. I've used this vacuum a lot since this video was filmed and I'm very impressed with it's all around performance.

    Great Video ! I've had my WD4 for about 4-5 years now. Initially it was purchased for cleaning the rather large terrace area but it got moved into the household vacuum. I loved it, so much so, when I decided I was tired of carrying the vacuum up and down the stairs, I chose a WD5 which arrived today.
    Just a hint for those lovely, but can be expensive fleece bags,
    I hand-stiched a zipper onto one, so I can just empty the bag and reuse, it's been working great, I do fold over the zipper and use a couple of clips to keep the fold and that prevents hair/dust from getting into the zipper teeth. And obviously Karcher thought this was a great idea, because the WD5 vacuum bag came with a zipper already in.

      Tootous Shabka Yes I ended up buying a second one for the house and this one lives in my shop now. I use it to vacuum up metal filings and it’s crazy how much it can handle and never lose suction! Interesting idea with the bags, but for me I hate bagless vacuums, that is the point of bags, I can just toss it with no mess, to me that is worth it.

    Great detail like the “Check ball” that was the buying feature for me because, years ago my father bought one with that system and is still working since 1998

      We actually now have two of these vacuums and it’s one of the greatest vacuums I’ve ever owned. One is a dedicated shop vac now and I have vacuumed up everything from pounds of metal dust to gallons of water with it with great results all around. The bag and filter system is amazing. My only complaint is the short, stiff cord and likewise hose, but that could be remedied if you really wanted.

    Yes this Hoover is awesome my flat floor was very very very bad !! This Hoover suction is so awesome its clearing it all up.
    I sometimes wish you could control the strength of the suction as its pretty mentally too strong even after emptying it after a few times still no loss of suction at all !

    In fact the suction was so strong I was using like a litter pack picking up rubbish that was too large to be suctioned up the the hose.
    If you ever needed a bloody out of this world Hoover that auctions out of this world you need to get this hoover. I've yet to test out the wet feature on it but I will be using it to clean out wet gravel from a 330 litre fish tank sometime next year.

      roadrunnerj It works great for water, just remove the bag, the filter stays in place. I ended up having to deal with a leak in my car and it worked great for that.

    I can't fault anything wrong with this Hoover so far !

      name2things I love it, I ended up buying a second one for the house and this one lives in my shop now. It work great for cleaning cars, I use the crevice tool for that myself. I’ve used it both wet and dry and it performs well either way. It does require a bag for dry operation.

    I came across your video by happenstance while trying to research this hoover,I live in Ireland btw. Atm Aldi have the Karcher wd2 for €60 and the following week lidl have the wd4 for €120 and I can't find any info on the difference between the two. They both appear to have the same 1000w motor and attachments so I'm wondering if the wd4 is worth double the price? Main uses would be for household hoovering laminate floors from copious German Shepherd hair and basically same for car upholstery (no easy task). Hoping you have some info to help me make a decision between the two models. Cheers.

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  4 года назад +1

      Dullahan Brewing From what I can see the WD2 is “Dry” and the WD4 is Wet/Dry, from the pictures I can find of the WD2 it appears to be shorter and has a different style filter, the hose inlet is also more on the top vs. the side on the WD4. If you are just using it for dry pickup you may not need the WD4, I’ve used mine a few time to pickup water and it works great. Also mine uses the good fleece bags, that WD2 appears to use smaller paper bags, the fleece is superior and my WD4 can fill it’s huge bag right full, I use it to clean up in my shop and sometimes the bags are literally heavier then the vacuum when they fill up. I’ve actually purchased a second WD4 since this video just for in the house since this one pretty much stays in my shop now.

      @@CarswithNash I think you've basically hit the nail on the head. The wd4 has larger capacity 20lt/12lt,and the filter is different but other than that they appear to be very similar. My current numatic Charles wet/dry uses those big fleece bags,they are way better than the paper ones if a little pricey. I need a new hoover now as I knocked the numatic off a height and broke something in the motor 🤣 I was leaning towards the wd4 but I can't really justify spending the extra for what I will be using it for so most likely I will get the wd2. I'm going to see if I can get a fleece bag to fit it first before deciding. Cheers.

    • @DullahanBrewing
      @DullahanBrewing 4 года назад +1

      Btw how difficult or pricey is it to get replacement consumables or different attachments for the wd4? I'm assuming I'll have to buy direct from Karcher.

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  4 года назад +1

      Dullahan Brewing I think they are pretty pricy actually, in the past I’ve gone to a vacuum store that fitted regular generic accessories to it with adapters.

    Does anyone know what is that styrofoam that can be seen inside of a black plastic part?

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  2 года назад +1

      Yes that is the float for when you are using it as a wet vac that floats up and shuts it off before it overflows. If you ever knock it over while it’s running and it suddenly stop sucking and sounds really loud, that is why because that got stuck so you will have to shut it off so it will fall down again.

      @@CarswithNash Also I have two more questions to ask you as a more experienced user. :) Can I vacuum fine dust or sand and have no fear of damaging the device? Also is a usage of a bag necessary when dry vacuuming, If i don't put a bag I can destroy it?

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  2 года назад +1

      @@anelajovanovic1285 I have two of these vacuums now, I use one in the house and one in the shop. You do need to use a bag and it probably will destroy it if you don’t, if it doesn’t destroy it it will just not work very well because it will clog the filter very quickly. The good news is the bags are huge and hold so much that you could use one for months if you’re just using it around your house. It doesn’t lose any suction as the bag fills up I have literally filled it to the point where it was filling up the hose because there was no room left in the bag and it was still sucking. The one I use in my shop I primarily use to clean up fine metal dust and have been for years now without any ill affects. This is the best vacuum I have ever used, I absolutely love it!
