Thank you so much for this. I needed to hear this detail to know what options to add. My verdict- none. The base model works for my needs. Thanks again.
I think this is actually our actual car!. We probably picked it up at Porsche Irvine right after you shot this. I agree with everything you say. 90 days in, this is probably my favorite car ever-and we have had some nice ones, including 3 Panamera’s. My last car was a Tesla Model X P100D-in other words the fastest model they made at the time. This Taycan is WAY more comfortable, has way more range and when I drive to LA and back, my butt isn’t sore from the crappy Tesla seats! It is also handles and stops better by far. It’s a Porsche for God’s sake! It also charges at those high powered chargers out there at about 3x the speed of a Tesla supercharger. (Sorry Elon. But your digital platform is way better. No one will ever beat you on that!)The only thing I can’t do is beat a McClaren at a stoplight. But that opportunity doesn’t come up too often. Oh, by the way, it also cost over $40k less than the Tesla and the payment is about $1000 per month! It’s a real no brainer!
Ron ... regarding your comment “awesome road tripper”. Can you share with me your experience taking a Taycan on road trips. How far have you taken it, what kind of range did you get, what kind of charging times did you achieve and how reliable were the chargers? My wife and I test drove a Taycan and a Panamera last week and we liked both vehicles but the Taycan had more of a wow factor. The Panamera would be an awesome road trip car on the highways. My concern is taking the Taycan on road trips. We live in NC and the charging networking appears to be very sparse. Would be a waste to have a $100k car sitting in garage while taking my 9 year old Volvo SUV on trips.
Is there a way to turn off the auto dimming feature of the rear view mirror? I have tinted windows and once I leave the garage I can barely see anything in the mirror. It becomes far too dim
Good job on the Taycan details. Thanks for teaching me the launch function. I just put my order on base Taycan. A little small for tall family but porsche resale value and 7500 rebate helps make this decision easy. Plus I have an suv already.
Thanks Steve! You can lift the rear spoiler into a "Manual Cleaning Position" via the PCM.... not quite like other Porsches where you can raise it all the way via a button. This cleaning position on raises it only just a bit! At 56mph it will raise a bit into an eco mode... 99 mph into an intermediate position and 124 mph into a performance position (55 mph if Sport Plus mode). Hope this helps! 👍🏼
Thanks for the review. That was a very detailed comparison. Would you get the adaptive air suspension with this car, or did you find the standard suspension adequate?
is there not a sunroof option on the Sport Turismo? I was building on the configurator and I could not see a glass roof. I would be curious to see how fast you can take the west bound 405 ramp on to the 133. I bet she really sticks to that corner. On launch, why do you need to keep the brake down? I understand on ICE engine where you need to get the RPM high to launch in the peak of rev range but it seems with Taycan, you could just floor it, without needing the brake?
The panoramic sunroof is standard on the Cross Turismo 👍🏼 The configurator does not reflect this when showing you the generated image! Oh yah she would be cooking! The brake needs to be held down because this puts the car into overboost for 2.5 seconds where more power is supplied to the electric motor(s) 👍🏼 It increases the power pretty significantly the standard Taycan with standard battery has 321hp normally but in launch with overboost 402hp!
Mason, great video! What were your impressions of the steel spring suspension in comparison to the air suspension (in the 4S)...besides not being able to adjust the height, was there a significant difference in the ride and corner control? Thanks for your thoughts.
Thank you 🙏🏼 great question! To be honest I couldn't tell a huge difference between the steel springs and air suspension handling! I believe if you don't need to raise and lower the car it is not necessarily worth it on the standard Taycan! Hope this helps

Would you get a 4s or upgraded base for 120k ... added...larger battery, sports design package, e mission wheels, sport chrono' air suspension ' metallic ice grey..wondering whether I should you get the 4s with fewer options.
Great question! Personally I really like speed so I would go with the 4S with fewer options! The standard Taycan is still plenty quick but after driving the 4S-Turbo S models I have gotten a bit used to the speed of those cars! But if going fast is not important to you then I would say forget about the other models and go standard Taycan and load it up with some options! 👍🏼
Drive both back to back, i was sold on Base Tacan, until I drove the 4s. The power difference is night and day, also you can negotiate about 2k lower (plus if you are already spec'ing stuff like air suspension and ambient lighting that comes with the 4s, it slowly makes more and more sense).
Very nice video- as usual!! You really seem to know a lot about the technical points of Porsches (including the Taycan). I like to deal with a knowledgeable person when I'm buying a car, are you a Porsche salesman? On another topic, I had a late model Corvette which I hated because after about a year when the tires got hardened a little it would break traction starting up around a corner and the back end would pop out. I would be concerned that would happen with this car. What do you think about that?
Thank you Charles! I am obsessed... I dream about Porsche at night 😂 I am a Porsche salesman as my day time job formally a Porsche Service Advisor.... I do this channel for the love of the brand and to share my passion! In terms of tires I have not seen our tires harden that quickly 🤔 Porsche says after 6 years regardless of tread they need to be replaced due to that exact reason. I also believe it also depends on the type of rubber compound and type. This particular car had all season tires on it but if they were summer tires this may happen but the rubber would need to be quite old. Now if we turned off the traction control the back end would pop out quite easily regardless of tires! Hope this helps 👍🏼

8:22 - Thank you for this review. Speaking of the dynamics.. did you notice sitting up slightly 'higher' in the RWD driver's seat compared to the 4S? I heard this in another review, that the driver does not sit as low in the RWD compared to the 4S. Maybe something to do with either the suspension options or the battery underneath?
Greetings from Germany. I ordered the RWD with the big battery. I will not stay in the right lane of our Autobahn like the Tesla do. I intend to book into the left lane and chase the other cars.
Thanks for your feedback and support! You are the first person to mention it but you are exactly right I tend to speed up my videos just a little bit quicker than real time in order to provide the information at a faster rate but since have not made it quite as fast! Good catch! 👍🏼
I am looking at getting the base Taycan or a Macan Turbo. they are about the same price as I built them. You seem super knowledgeable and would like your opinion? I loved the speed and sound of the Turbo Macan. But the look of the Taycan is pretty cool. Im ready to flip a coin lol
Hey Eric thank you for reaching out! Really appreciate it! Mhmm that is a great question and a tough choice! Do you need the extra room in the back seats or rear trunk? The Macan Turbo does sure sound good! If I were choosing between the 2 I could go with the Taycan for several reasons... the driving dynamics are amazing on the Macan but even better on the Taycan literally feels like a 4 door 911 when it comes to handling partially because of the amazing weight distribution between the front and rear. The amount of the technology that has gone into the Taycan is significant when it comes to the charging, interior layout (instrument cluster, PCM and center console with the touch screen at times feels like something from the future. Over the course of the vehicle your maintenance cost will be dramatically decreased as it only needs service every 2 years or 20k miles. Even then it is brake fluid and filters, most updates to the car can be completed via Over the Air (OTA updates). Now with with all this being said as amazing as it is there are still some quirks that are being worked out when it comes to charging at an Electrify America stations as they struggle at times. There are still some software bugs here and there but Porsche is working on them constantly to improve them. On the flip side there is no denying the Macan turbo is a beast... probably will be one of the last generation internal combustion engine Macan's as they car is due for a refresh and is said to be going EV. This could be one of the final years to get a Macan that is not electric. The refresh is said to happen by 2023 with a new redesign.... possibly even next year! The industry is heading towards EV's as they see this as the future and I can promise you the Taycan will not disappoint! The Taycan is the future of tomorrow...today!! Hope this helps Eric! Sorry for the long windedness! Please let me know if any further questions arise!
