This episode was brilliant by both the competitors and the great idea of Craig to play that joke. Absolutely awesome!
The late Ray Combs did the exact same thing on _Family Feud_ in Fast Money whenever the first player reached or surpassed the requisite 200 points. He'd trick the second contestant into thinking their teammate only scored 20 points in the five questions and then asked crazy questions to sell the joke.
What a win the first contestant did an outstanding job getting 10 out of 10 without passing on any of them well done.

Absolutely incredible to see that happen. 1st time in CNG history with a perfect score for just 1 contestant to get. And this is shades of Ray Combs back on Family Feud in the early 90's when he jokingly tells the player he/she got only 8 points & tells them after the time's up, won the money when the player got over 200+ points in the 1st half alone. Craig did it well right there. "Uhh, your partner got 0! jk he got em' all!" lol
xXGamerDudeXx13 You can't get 200 points in the first half of the final round of Family Feud, it's mathematically impossible.
you can back in the Richard Dawson/Ray Combs era, but this era, you are right. If you seen a few episodes from the 70's-90's, it's happened a few times.
The best part about this clip, for me, is the absolute joy, happiness, and excitement that Cat and Ross had when they pulled off all 10.

It would've been funnier if they actually made him start the whole round over and tell the celebrities to play dumb so the time could run out while they were still stuck on the first clue. :P

Beautiful game show moment. Next time that happens, mess with the second contestant even more: start with 0, play it through, and have the celebrities act confused and give wrong answers.

This show deserves a syndication run. Cancelled way before its time...probably because no one had sob stories and the gameplay wasn't dragged out over an hour

Technically The judges should have never gave the contestant credit for number 8 when Cat Deely said Jar Jar Brinks when it is actually Jar Jar Binks but they did.
+henry farrell To be fair the judges were rightly lenient there, similar to Pyramid back in the day, the key essence of the name was close enough so it's fine.
+Sam Hodkin The judges were lenient they usually do not give you credit for that kind of mistake on that game show but they did and I was surprised that Craig did not hear her say that because he usually catches it.
+henry farrell I've seen this episode on TV a couple of times, and I've watched this clip on RUclips several times. I didn't hear Cat say "Jar Jar Brinks" myself until you pointed it out. All in all, most likely, the boys would have won anyway since the second guy would have most likely finished up the round and got the rest of the clues.

How much of the 20k did they actually get?
They get given 20k by the show, but then the tax man comes in later when they file. How much you're taxed depends on your income and the state you live in. If you don't pay you may end up going to jail. So you must not spend it all and allow that some maybe paid months later. It might be 10% to tax man, but if the 20k pushes you into a higher income bracket, that could end up being much more. So between 2k and 5k in taxes is a good idea. (don't forget you gonna pay around $500 of the winnings to have a tax accountant help you)
If you were to win 1 million on like Survivor show, you will be pay OVER HALF to the tax man. $450k is what they end up having for themselves. If you don't do your taxes right, you can go to prison, like the first winner of Survivor did.
One guy won $10k on a game show and found out he would have to give $5k
to his ex-wife and then pay taxes on his $5k, so he only would get around $3.5k. He decided it was not worth it, and didn't want his ex to get any, so he declined the prize altogether. Many people end up declining prizes on shows because of this kind of thing.
You remember when Oprah gave "free" cars to the audience? Not free. Each person had to pay around $7k in tax to have the car. Many could not afford it, declined the car and got nothing. That was a big con. She didn't give people free cars, she gave them tax nightmares. Only people with money benefited.

But to get the car you need $7k to pay the taxes on it, then you can sell it. You cannot get the car without $7k first... not everyone in the audience has that or a way to get that. (It's a free show to go to, working class people go to that show).
That's the problem with what Oprah did.
That's the problem with all these shows... you need several thousand dollars to get the prizes... many people on the Price is Right do not claim their prizes because they cannot afford to get them, especially cars.
The only prize you want on these shows is cash, then you are okay and take the taxes out of that.
