The difference is this ND team has some studs in the Defensive backfield too. Imagine if Benjamin Morrison (who may have been the best corner in the country) was still healthy? ND will likely lose to Ohio State if they beat PSU, but with the playoff format they earned their spot and respect. As a Bama fan I have watched UGA closely the last 7-8 years. Kirby has fallen into the same trap that Saban fell into. I've gotta get more explosive on offense. I need a "duel threat', I need to open up the offense. WHY?? What you were doing was working. Kept it simple, took the responsibility off the QB and put in it on the O line. You catered the game to your defense. You kept them off the field and rested. When the defense gets tired you get beat in the secondary, you can't get pressure, you can't react fast enough to get turnovers. Yea, you only won 24-10 but you won.
Folks say NIL is leveling things up and it is but these great coaches changing their philosophy is just as responsible. Now, instead of going into games and teams like Bama and UGA and you say they will win if they just play sound football because we are bigger and stronger you are playing a team that is now even because of philosophy.
