I had to smile when you were saying it was so nice to be able to try a different cast on for a low-stakes project like a hat before trying it on the Margaux top. It's even nicer for all of us that you are going to do all the hard work, and then report back to us all on how it went! 🤣🤣 Thanks as always for such an interesting podcast x

Another great podcast, Tash. The high point for me was seeing you and your absolutely lovely daughters working together on your bags, which look as if they will turn out beautifully. I really enjoyed your comparison of different hat patterns and techniques.Your Throwover sweater is a dream. So much inspiration. Enjoy Newcastle and the Sunshine Coast!

OMG I just realized that what is hanging on the wall behind you is not a decoration but your circular needles LOL

What a great episode and I love hearing your remarks about the hats. I knit a lot of hats and have a few favorites but it’s always nice to hear about a new one. You are so helpful and informative. Have a great time with your mom and an aunt and a great vacations with your friend. See you soon. 💖

Thanks for your in depth hat reviews. I love knitting hats, for myself, and for others. I once knit a hat for someone who hunts in a remote area of Idaho. He was way out in the wilderness when it started pouring on him, which lasted for a couple of days. All of his high tech gear failed, but my wool hat kept his head warm throughout the trip. There’s just something cool about sharing a hand knit hat with someone. Watching your videos gives me other designs to try out. 😊 Cheers from Washington! ❤

I’ve really enjoyed the comparisons and observations you have shared regarding the different hat patterns. I also wanted to say the very first hat you wore looked like it was meant to be yours 😊. I did watch the walking and knitting video. I’m going to try this when our weather gets a little warmer. I’ve sewn a couple of the project bags like you have shown so I have no excuses. It’s also been delightful to see the family making their leather bags!

That pillow cover is lovely. As someone who has made a lot of pillow covers, you will need about a five inch overlay on the back. I think a stripe of one or more of the colors would work well.

There are so very many ribbed hat patterns aren’t there?!! One that I have that is a good basic in the Basic Beanie by Tincanknits. Sized from newborn to Adult large, 3 different yarn weights and 3 different ribbing options. 2 summers ago I taught my son’s partner to knit and this was her first project. She actually ended up making several, and I was the lucky recipient of one of them which was pretty special for me. Pattern is priced at 6 USD which is less than the pattern you discussed. And Tincanknits has so many helpful video tutorials which makes this a great pattern for a beginner. I too am being more careful with pattern purchases as I live in Canada and the Canadian $ is very low at the moment compared to USD. As a result I am attempting to be more thoughtful in my purchases.

Another wonderful video - now after looking at the Stella Quilt Cushion and yarn I know I have some stash that I could make this, too! Thanks for inspiration and as always enjoyed all the hat inspiration. I’m running out of places to store sweaters in my camper so smaller projects are better until I get back to home base😂. Looking forward to your stash videos!

Thank you for a very interesting video.
I really enjoy all your work and enthusiasm.
I'm South African, living in the UK and am envious of you with your girls.
My daughter is in SA and my son in Taiwan.
So very far away specially now that I am alone after my husband passed away.
In Cambridge UK there are no wonderful yarn shops like the one you showed.
In South Africa where I lived all my life before coming here, I was blessed with a good habidatiary shop where I could get everything, which is also quite scarce because we sew more than knit.
As you said to hold the yarn is so good.
I still battle to buy most goods online.
I'm not a big knitter like you, but knit mainly socks to give away.
I also knit three king size blankets with mitered blocks.
Your cushion reminds me of the blankets except my blocks were big.
When knitting the cushion, is it knitting on the bias, increasing and decreasing and then picking up stitches for the next block.
Also crochet, one finished one and one nearly there.
Enjoy your holiday, visits and knitting and the sun.
This week the temperature is bouncing around 0°c.
    Fortunately the houses are warm.
    Take care x

      @mostlyknitting  8 часов назад

Thank you so much Anita. Yes, the cushion sections are knit on the bias, increasing and then decreasing. I am glad you are here and enjoying the community and connection. Thinking of you with your kids so far away. That must be hard. Take care xx

Thanks for sharing your super-informative podcast, I really benefit from your experience. I am currently knitting the Margaux top and did the recommended cast on and just wanted to comment that the CO edge becomes relatively inelastic when you reorder the stitches from 1x1 to 2x2 rib. Cheers

I love your channel and am trying to keep up with all the yarns and hat patterns you mention. I am an old knitter but never did hats or anything in the round. When I was a serious knitter it was when sweaters were knit in pieces and sewn together. I’m just coming back to it and find your channel the most interesting and where to learn many things or look them up!

I’ve had multiple surgeries in my dominant hand and so have to very careful with knitting. When I have hand pain, I switch to square needles (eg Knit Picks FourSquare) and get almost instant relief. Wooden needles aren’t my favourite but they sure help when my hand is sore. Enjoyed seeing your bag segment with your daughters-it’s so nice crafting with our children! Enjoy your time away visiting….hopefully we’ll see some video of your visit with Becs.

Thanks so much Beverly. Yes, hopefully will get some video during my trip to visit Bec. Also, I totally agree with making changes when we feel pain. It is so important to listen to our bodies. :)

Another helpful podcast, my question: how do you knit a swatch in pattern? Do you knit it circular on long cable? Do you do it back and forth like Patty Lyons? I did a huge swatch in order to get it in pattern but yours is quite small. I'd like a tutorial on swatching in pattern.
Also I really like your honesty re essential beanie. Our Canadian $ is in the pits so buying patterns gets expensive and you do want to ensure a pattern is worth the $.
    Loved your walk8ng video,

If you are looking for another hat pattern to try think about Jonathon Days hat pattern. It’s one I am thinking of trying for my son who is living in London for a couple of years and would love your thoughts.

I recently purchased the Musselburgh hat pattern and have plenty of yarn in stash to make one (or two...or three). Question - do you prefer to use 16mm needles for this and/or other hat patterns in adult sizes?

Really enjoyed your podcast Tash. I'm sure your friends will love their hats. Do you have different ways to block the hats.? Hope your husband is doing well with the knee surgery, two together is tough. Lovely to see the girls enjoying their projects. Have a lovely time with your mum and au t and loo, forward to the next one.❤
