      Hey some advice
Watch beyblade burst , it's much better and the animation is really expensive you know lol, also.....
Beyblades can be made by 3D print now, but the best part, you can make your own beyblade now, like everyone can play with the beyblade toys :3
But some people like Kevo and illnnuc made their own beyblades and the plastic beyblades have Metal on them now!, it's more awsome now!, and Beyblade plastic gen....well the animation was cheap due to the lack of money the producers had to pay to the Designers...so yea, beyblade burst is a HIT to the anime , instead of seeing the beyblades like in the anime look like they are not spinning , due to low quality..., but i agree with beyblade burst the most!, teaching us new things other beyblade series didn't show us, so yea, i recommend for you to watch the new series of beyblade :) it's better and the main character lost in the finals, that teaches us that not everyone can win...even if you mess up or an accident happends like your beyblade explodes/burst , that means, you gave it a nice battle though, it's what matters. Being #1 blader isn't important, but the most important is trying the best you can :) , that's what beyblade is about

Let me just start by saying I love your channel and since discovering you I've secretly tried to emulate your style a bit in my own videos, BUT I feel like a lot of this critique could also be applied to other shows.
-You said you couldn't root for Tyson in the tournament cause it was too early in the series to like him. In Pokemon, Ash was battling for gym badges as early as episode 5.
-You said you didn't like the action sequences cause they took a real thing and just added monsters and voice commands to make it more exciting, but isn't that basically what the Yu-Gi-Oh did with Yu-Gi-Oh cards?
-You said some of the cards from the Beyblade TCG were dumb sounding, but the Pokemon TCG has trainer cards with names like 'Gust of Wind', 'TV Reporter' and 'Good Manners'.
I could probably go on. I ain't saying Beyblade is gold standard Oscar material, but this seems like a situation where the franchise seemed way worse to you cause you had no real nostalgia lenses altering your vision.

Oh yea, like I said it's not amazing. But the first series of Pokemon is a complete mess also. Ash watches a Pokemon on TV in one episode then has no idea what that Pokemon is when he encounters it in real life a few episodes later. Ash's cluelessness was an excuse for exposition but it made for some dumb stuff happening. Billiam watched Pokemon as a kid though so his nostalgia kinda blurs out the errors. It happens to all of us.

Okay, gonna be perfectly honest? You were smart here. As a long-time beyblade fan since I was a kid, I get why it's stuck around and this is a perfect video for telling people about some of what's going on nowadays with the series. But, the anime series have gotten much better after the original seasons, the writing/animation's gotten a lot better and even much more successful as a franchise. Seriously, they print money as of the 3rd iteration 'burst' and have been stupidly successful for being so simple. If you cover this again, check out the Metal saga (2nd generation), it's financially the most profitable the series ever got.

    • @shawnjavery
      @shawnjavery 6 лет назад +14

The Metal Saga had a legit good anime. The problems he had with G revolution were fixed, and the character designs were so much better. Outside of a few bad VA's for the dub, ryouga's was particularly out of character, and the third season having 39 instead of 52 which left the last third of the season feel very fast, I can unironically say that I thoroughly enjoyed the metal saga, until shogun steel, but that was expected to be terrible from the start.
I'm on the fence about burst though. From the 10 or so episodes I've watched, it seems a lot more like a traditional sports anime, which isn't a genre I tend to watch. Also the character designs took a step back for me, and I'm not a huge fan of Van's VA. I can't see her as anyone other than gao from buddy fight, and while I loved her performance in that, Gao had a much more responsible vibe to him, that he had a clear idea of who he was and his views in life even if he acted childish most of the time. Drum being his junior and learning from Gao, which led to him being a "rolemodel" instead of an audience surrogate, which Van is.

In my school we had these weird square tables that had 4 holes, 1 in each corner that everyone used to battle (If the beyblade stopped moving or fell in one of the holes, you lose).
But there were some "hardcore" kids, that made their own beys or modified them to have a bike gears replacing the metal wheel, it made them extremely dangerous and created a fun light show with the sparks from the metal on metal friction.
One time, my favorite bey lost the last battle in the unofficial school tournament by being launched of the arena into a wall, when I retrieved it, the plastic pin that holds everything together had snapped in half.

I’m kind of saddened that when you were talking about the anime you only got to episode 6. There was some misrepresentation with how you described it. Yes, Beyblade has the “Beysharks” as the bad guys at the beginning, however it gets completely disbanded after Tyson beats Kai in episode 7. I think the main goal of this first arc was meant to establish the characters.
We also do see Tyson work hard to get to where he is. Episode 1 we see him lengthen his rip chord and figures out a different way to shoot his Beyblade. It’s a bit dramatic, but the way he does it reminds me very much of the “Sliding Shot” launch, which is achieved by sliding your launcher forward. Considering Tyson’s Bey is an attack type as he prefers it, this is a very valid strategy. It makes a Beyblade spin in a flower-like pattern rather than around the outer ring of the stadium. Attack types rely on knocking out the other Beyblade as fast as possible because they generally don’t have great stamina.
Episode 3 sees Tyson using a predictable approach to battling when up against Max. He invents a new way to shoot his Beyblade once more creating a fantastical “super move” which allows his bey to appear invisible.
During the BBA tournament we do see how much stronger he’s gotten. He uses the obstacle stadium to his advantage and even knocks Kai off guard in their battle, which shows he’s become less predictable. Personally, I do think that his battles are earned.
There’s always Kenny/the chief who’s always stressing over Beyblade performance and tries his hardest to keep the team up to par with the competition. The guy’s the true hero on the side lines.
Also, I guess now would be a good time to let you know that characters like Dizzy don’t exist in the Japanese version. There’s a lot to talk about, but I myself am rewatching the series in its entirety, so I still don’t know everything. Also bit beasts are sort of portrayed as captured spirits in the English dub, but it’s more like an avatar for the character’s fighting spirit.
Much of this show is tournament after tournament and each one tests the team in different ways.
The 4kids dub is more radical wow wacky 90’s, but I’d argue that it’s still a lot of fun. The music is bangin’. If you like music such as “Can’t Stop the Rock” by Apollo 440 or “Name of the Game” by Crystal Method to name a few, you’ll like it. Lyrics be damned, but I still love them. The Japanese version is much more straight-faced with what it has to offer. I have a feeling you’d like the characters a little bit more in that version. The music for this one was by Yoshida Horino who composed for things like Final Fantasy 7, Hunter x Hunter, and Deathnote.
I’m not asking for a redo or anything like that. Heck, I’m glad you gave it a chance at all. Thank you! This series surprised me back in 2015 when I watched it all the way through for my first time. I think the general consensus is that season 1, Bakuten Shoot Beyblade, is good, Season 2, V Force, is very meh, and Season 3, G Revolution, is also good.
Once again, thanks, Billiam! Sorry this is so long!

If you haven't seen it, you ought to check out Beyblade Burst, its genuinely enjoyable, not ironically like every other beyblade series. The world is a bit silly, but there's no bs remote control or straight up magic, and the plot doesn't revolve around the end of the world or the beyblades themselves, to the show its more of a sport for the characters to enjoy, and it takes full advantage of it. It's a lot like Haikyu or Free, and the animation is just as pretty imo.

Personally I thought Metal Fusion, Master, and Fury were good. The toys were even more customizable and it felt good to try and collect as many as you could. As for the anime, I felt like it could have been waaay better. I'm more ways than just plot and whatever. For example, the anime had its dark moments, like Reiji who controlled Poison Serpent and literally shredded other blader's beys with his own. Or when Tsubasa faced Ryuga and became possessed by a dark force. The anime could have been so much cooler if it had more of this. Yeah it was a kids show and toy, but I like to think about what if they targeted it towards an older audience. For me Beyblade's appeal lies in its potential and what it *could* have been. The end of Metal Fury touched more on that, with an 'end of the world' scenario that was both awesome yet unsatisfying in the end. Also I wanna know what happened to Twisted Tempo...that was a serious let down for me. But all in all Beyblade was something that could habe been more than it was and is. Frankly they should have never done Shogun Steel or Beywheels, and I get that Burst is trying to be like the original, but it just doesn't feel like it is what it wants to be.

It may not be that long, but it was a LONG time ago, when I was 5-8 years old or something, and I'm 23. I LOVED this toy, the aesthetic alone was mind-blowingly epic to me. I even remember the little cockpit opening up and allowing you to place a little plastic man inside, and there were a lot of moving parts. I don't remember much of the show, but I do remember liking it, hence the toy. Anyways, sorry for the long post, but thanks for bringing up such beautiful memories. @Billiam I think you can check out the series after the initial Beyblade, titled 'Metal FIght Beyblade'. It was a series more focused on the aspect of building the beyblade itself. They had a Beyblade which spined counter-clockwise and had things that dealt with the centrifugal force of the blade. eg. they had this middle section which had 2 decented weighted balls encapsulated which will spin closer to the body of the beyblade as it slows down and help mantain a longer stamina etc. (The beyblade was called Libra). Pretty cool stuff honestly. It feels more strategic than just yelling at the beyblade.

I loved the G revolution game I played it so much. And yeah the special moves were so good. When you charged all the way to red delivered the hit, and then unleashed that special fury of attacks ❤️

nicholas cato Ikr. Charge up to max and unleash a killer combo that it's almost game breaking at times. Some NPCs blades can't compete xD

Since I don’t think anyone every brought it up, the voice actor for Ray and Kai we’re both in Mean Girls
David Reale (Kai) was Glen Coco
Daniel De Sonto (Ray) was the guy that asked Lindsay Lohan if he could butter her muffin.

I recently bought a Beyblade Busrt epic rivals set. It’s not bad, but the battles were more engaging in the Original and Metal series. Both IRL and in the Anime.

Anyone remember the two Beyblade spin offs? There was bey wheels and bey riders. Bey wheelss was tolerable while bey riders was awful. Both were basically beyblade but not. Bey wheels was bey blade with wheels and bey riders was bey blade with little car things.

PurpleLemonDoesStuff Ok so at the end of the bey wheels anime they went into a seperate dimension or world or whatever that takes place there. It sucked because we only ever saw like half the cast from the original bey wheels anime and then the animators weren't even bothered to put in background characters. So the plat of bey riders was to collect magic bey riders to save the world from an ultimate evil. But again no background characters so who the hell ate they saving?
