    I have a 2007 GTI, These videos are super helpful, Here in Newfoundland, Canada. Labour costs at a Volkswagen dealership are typically super expensive, These walkthroughs make it easy to do the work myself.

    Thanks! This is one of the most informative start to finish videos I’ve seen. Thanks for showing how to remove the cover. Other videos usually start with the cover already removed and the narrator says “okay, first remove the cover as you can see I’ve done”.

    Thanks! 2008 GTi threw a code for the #1 coil. Glad this is all that it takes to replace the whole set of coils and plugs.

    Great help seeing how you removed the coil harness connectors. The ones on my '07 GTI stuck a bit after 160000 miles of use, so a little bit of spray lube helped free up those plugs.

    There’s a hack that you take two zip-ties or shoelaces and hook it underneath the coil head and pull it out.

      This comment is late, but I just bought the stuff to do this to my GTI TSI (which uses the same plugs as the FSI in the video). The spark plug tool is 5/8 inches or 16mm with a 3/8 drive ratchet (don't know the conversion for that one, sorry). Hope that helps!

    why we should remove battery's neqative terminal?

    • @joekungson425
      @joekungson425 9 лет назад

      +MicksGarage1 I think POSITIVE side should be removed instead Negative terminal side.

    • @athulbnair
      @athulbnair 8 лет назад +5

      +Joe Kungson Usually it is the negative terminal which we remove. Fiddling with positive first could lead to sparks, while negative is still connected. So during repair works negative is removed..

    • @frostysnowdog
      @frostysnowdog 6 лет назад +2

      Good question. Safety!! The Negative wire goes to the body/frame already. By removing it, if you accidentally dropped a wrench on positive (or starter motor, which is where positive wire attaches directly) and other end touches the engine or body it won’t arc, because battery isn’t making a full loop. If you removed positive you could still make a full loop between positive pole and body and possibly blow up the battery. Always remove the negative side on a modern car. Just beware that very old tractors (1950’s and before) may be reversed.
      Personally I also like to cover the positive with a cap or glove just for extra paranoia/ safety. Leave it hooked up. Just so that I don’t drop a wrench across both exposed poles.

    You 100% should have checked the gap on the spark plugs and checked what distance they're rated for.

    I found oil on one of the ignition coil bad or good?

    • @ContempIated
      @ContempIated 2 года назад

      There should be no oil in your coil wells. I would recommend replacing ur valve cover gasket and making sure it's torqued properly
