What's funny is that even though I teach both Japanese bugei and Indonesian silat which have weapons of their own, when people ask me what my FAVORITE weapon is I always say the bagua yuet(or more often I say bagua deer horn knives so they at least partially know what I'm talking about). I love how much skill it takes to master these weapons. Much like the twin hook swords, it's incredibly easy to cut yourself with these if you loose focus for even a moment. But once they are mastered they become the most dynamic edged weapons ever made.
It's odd you should mention butterfly swords because my sifu always said he couldn't figure out why the weapons didn't originate from xingyi instead of bagua. He even made his own xingyi application forms for the weapons because he said they suited xingyi as well, if not better than bagua. I however think it works very well if you put the footwork of bagua together with the counteroffensive nature of xingyi.
This guy deserves more views very informative
Thanks man! Share and like! The comments will fuel me to put more vids up!
Oh man this is too cool, thanks for demonstrating the properties and techniques for this weapon! I have a character in a story that uses this exact weapon, and seeing you use it stance and action-wise really helps me get a better idea of how to handle it! (It'll also help when I draw him using them)
Thank you again! Subscribed!
Hahha! Great! Glad you liked it!
Haha, I also searched this up for a character I’m drawing :p
Thank You For This Video Sir! 😊
Thank you for the demo and Kung Fu Direct connection.
If there's ever a zombie apocalypse you'll be fine! XD haha
THEKAIST LOL This is like the X times I have heard this comment this year! LOL!!!
Hahaha I bet! :D
No but yes, the yue is not a good apocaweapon, you have to get too close, however he has a Guan Dao in the background, which is an excellent weapon for an apocalypse
@@flabbergasted7237 guan dao best weapon in dead rising 3
Do they come with any form of sheath or scabbard? Also I know its a Bagua weapon but do any other styles use these weapons? It's a pretty cool weapon I would be surprised other styles wouldn't want to pick the weapon up. I practice Tang Lang I would use these weapons.
.
can you please make a video on taiji 'wind and fire wheels' please
- love your video :)
Thats my favorite weapon thanks for sharing. ;]
Hahaha! Thanks!
Excellent personal defense weapon.
Those are bad assss. Looks good for defenseive and offensive weapons.
definitely !
Bless his heart
I would never fight you . Look at the background of your room .
theeeee uh scary pointy tip lol
This is called 鹿角刀 or 鸳鸯钺 in Mandarin. Yuet literally means axe.
Yes Ying Yeung Yuet is also the formal name, but in the category of 18 weapons, YUET is referred to this already, the axe is referred to FU, the axe literally, and there are long axe and short axe or double axe. So when you say yuet in Cantonese, it's mostly understood as this thing.
Deer Horn knife - correct, but there is also another weapon that is called a deer horn knife. That thing look like a huge hook sword with a V shape blade used in xingyi style, and THAT is the confusing part. ruclips.net/video/nqmXj0jgQwo/видео.html see that?
Awesome weapon. Do you think it would be effective in a miniature size.
how mini is minature?
lol good question. I was thinking pocket sized about 8 to 9 inches overall length.
nala o
your hand cannot even fit into the hole to grip it then, LOL! You don't want those horns in your pockets too, hahahaha!
Yeah when I said pocket sized I wasn't thinking to put them in my pocket but to make a sheath.I'd construct the miniatures with holes that a hand could fit through albeit snugly. You're right I certainly wouldn't want to put those horns in my pocket lol. I'll just go ahead and build them...and see how it turns out. thanx for responding.
nala o well that that is not a mini size already. If you say a smaller size deer horn blade, sure, that is okay, and it will still work very well too. There is in fact a smaller size version but I cannot find it in most shops. The smaller size one is very good, and usually made of pointy wood, meaning that, you dont' cut a lot with them, you stab and tear and hook more. It's a deadly weapon too!
do the ring with multiple short blades.
this weapon is available in shadow fight 2 it is named as crescent knives in that game XD
Any historical story about this weapon or how be made?
Hendy Halim I believe I saw something similar under knife forging
catch me cutting carrots with this thing (xiran jay zhao sent me here)
antler horn blades - in English ;))
Were can I buy these from?
I got them at kungfudirect, but they come dull, you have to sharpen it yourself!
Ok cool how much were they?
aliexpress.com ;))
reminds me of the klingon bat'leth from star trek.
LOL my student just said that in private!
The english name is the crescent knife
I though it was deer horn knives
Any weapon that has spikes toward the wielder has a design flaw.
Not really but ok
Cresent knifes
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Uussshhh
Seriously, if someone brought those to my movie set, my strategy would be to get them to stab themselves. Meanwhile I would get a couple of well balanced combat style bowie knives, and cut them to ribbons. If it has a martial purpose, that ain't it. More likely it comes from theater or ritual. Keep up the good work this stuff is fun!
No I’m pretty sure it’s used in wushu which if I’m not mistaken was a military martial art and kicked the shit out of Shaolin Kung fu so no you ain’t doin shit buddy 😂
@@blacksnapper7684 No, historically wushu and Shaolin have nothing to do with military. Check out my books, I write history. And my comment above was just me joking around 😃
@@NorthStarMartialArtsUSA you serious?recommend me a book! I would love to read some of your work. I’ve always been told and read that wushu was used in the military, and could rival Shaolin Kung fu. I’m willing to admit when I’m wrong, buuuuut I want to do more research before I declare it so. And there’s so many people who think they can win against masters of there respected disciplines, when they themselves have no actual combat training, and more that likely fight like a rabid drunk. (Not saying that you do).
This is waaaay too long! I don't care about the bag or how sharp he may have made it. This needs to be more, wham, bam, deer horn blades, thanks and goodbye.
