Piplup is such a good pick too. Dude was everywhere, but personally I think lucario was justified as it's featured more. Smash, BW having easy access to one at the beginning of the game, XY giving you a free mega lucario and lore wise Lucario is the first ever mega pokemon and Ash getting the Lucario he always should've had and it being mega solidify himself with the most popular pokemon of Gen 4. But no doubt Piplup is on for discussion
Gen 1: Pikachu/ Charizard Gen 2: Celebi/ Lugia Gen 3: Gardevoir/ Shiny Rayquaza Gen 4: Lucario Gen 5: Zoroark (N) Gen 6: Greninja Gen 7: Incineroar Gen 8: Corviknight Gen 9: Tinkaton
Tyranitar is really cool, but it was so difficult to get that I don’t know anyone that actually used it. Plus, unless you grind really hard in HGSS, it doesn’t evolve until after the first elite 4 fight-through. I would say Ampharos, Umbreon/Espeon or my man Furret for most popular in Johto. Hell, maybe even Shuckle or Scizor.
There's absolutely no shot Dracovish is the most popular Gen 8 Pokémon. I see way more love for the likes of Dragapult, Toxtricity and Cinderace. Even Falinks, as much as I'm not crazy about it myself.
Gen 1: While I prefer Raichu over Pikachu, there's no denying that Pikachu is the face of Pokemon. Lol. Gen 2: I feel like Scizor, Togepi, Mareep (or my personal fave, Ampharos), and Pichu are all Pokemon that come to mind long before I think of Tyranitar. Gen 3: While I get that people like Rayquaza (he's a cool legendary), I actually was expecting Blaziken, Sceptile, Gardevoir, or Flygon to take this one. I'm actually shocked! Gen 4: Lucario is SPOT ON! Gen 5: TBH, I didn't even know about Volcarona in these games because it came so late, but once I discovered it years later, YEAH, IT'S AWESOME! Gen 6: While I've never understood the Greninja hype, this is a weaker Gen, and I think Greninja is the right choice here. Gen 7: I love SO MANY Alolan Pokemon, and I'm kind of surprised Mimikyu is the winner over Decidueye, but I get it. Lol. Gen 8: HARD DISAGREE! I get that people like Dracovish for competitive, but for designs, against the likes of Cinderace, Corviknight, Woolio, Applin (and Appletun), Grimmsnarl, Snom, and Dragapult... Nah, this ain't it! Gen 9: TINKATON IS 100% CORRECT! Of course, I don't always love the most popular Pokemon, so maybe I'm just out of the loop. Lol.
Actually unpopular opinion: While I really like Lucario, Infernape is better. Way better. In every conceivable way. Lucario only becomes better overall (post Gen 4) cause of Steel getting the buff against Fairies. Lucario is just the next best option for those who didn't choose Infernape
Zacian is much better than Dracovish. It's absolutely dominating in battles and a wolf with a giant sword like the white wolf from Dark Souls is just AMAZING
Honestly I don’t think Dracovish is THAT popular in Galar. Yeah it does have a crazy competitive history but design wise, a lot of people don’t like the fossils mixing. Dragapult is WAY more popular since it has a cooler design, its very strong, it’s on Leon’s team, and it had a very unique typing that originally only Giratina had. Plus this thing won the popularity contest for Galar during the Pokémon of the year during 2020 and it’s in Unite so it’s definitely more popular.
Dracovish is popular but there are people who don’t like the fossil mixing, Dragapult is definitely the most popular in Generation 8. Same can be said for Tinkaton in Generation nine, there was a popularity poll for most popular Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet in Japan which Tinkaton won followed by Cloudsire taking second and Meowscarda afterwards but yeah, she’s definitely the most popular in Generation nine and one of my favorites for that Generation as well. 😊🥲
And here I thought for generation 4 you were going to talk about infernape the firestarter which in the Pokedex entry is categorized as son Goku also he is a firefighting monkey with his own nimbus cloud which is what is based and he's like the only firestarter worth running in the region 🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯
This is my own take, but before that I would like to point out two things: first it’s not my personal preference for any of these Pokémon (though I really like most of them) but what I objectively think is the most popular ‘mon of that gen, and also I am not familiar with any of the regions post gen 7 as I haven’t played any of the games, watched the anime or consume any other sort of media, so I’ll trust Mystic in regards to Gens 8 and 9. Gen I: Pikachu (no need to explain why) Gen II: Lugia (I would say it’s way more popular than Tyranitar, it’s on the cover of a game as well as being the main ‘mon in the Pokémon 2000 movie, also Dark Lugia in XD) Gen III: Yeah, it’s Rayquaza and I agree, definitely my favorite legendary ever (though Blaziken is my favorite ‘mon and had a kickass anime introduction, so it was a hard choice for me, but Rayquaza has the game cover plus Destiny Deoxys movie) Gen IV: Yeah it’s Lucario, same reasons as in the video Gen V: This one’s a hard choice coz it’s an unpopular generation even amongst fans, though if I had to choose it would be either both legendary dragons Zekrom and Reshiram due to game covers, or perhaps Zoroark since it’s like Gen V’s Lucario even though it’s way less popular Gen VI: Greninja (Ash-Greninja plus everything else said on the video) Gen VII: Again I feel like Pokémon’s popularity decreased a lot after gens 3-4, so it’s hard to pick a ‘mon for certain, but I agree with Mystic’s choice
Here's my list for the most popular pokemon of each gen(PS I didn't include legendaries) Gen 1: Pikachu(Pretty Obvious) Gen 2: Pichu(I feel like since Lugia is out the og baby pokemon is a good choice especially since Togepi has kinds been forgotten) Gen 3: Gardevoir(If you ignore the weirdos Gardevoir is super iconic and her Mega and Iron Valiant really helps) Gen 4: Lucario(Duh) Gen 5: Zoroak(With its own movie and the attention it's been getting in Gen 9 and Legends Arceus it's been boosted alot) Gen 6: Greninja(Enough said) Gen 7: Mimkyu(It's been sweeping the popularity polls) Gen 8: Toxtricity(It was uses heavy in marketing for gen 8 and is practically the mascot of Gmax) Gen 9: Tinkaton(No explanation needed)
These doesn't look like the most popular of every generations list, it mostly comprises of who you think is/are the coolest is and mostly reserved for hyper avid pokemon fans and not the pokemon fanbase as a whole
Plus: -the love he gets w the anime / Gladion where he tied w Pickachu in the tournament. -the recent Variant w one of the best typings -him getting his own mini arch w Hisuan Snow -the preorder bonus im LoA where that give away his mask. -him being a presale Incentive to buy the DLC. -plus that mon bing the 1st hisuian to enter SV. (If he counted the paradox mons for Volcarona of the same Gen, no reason to overlook this here)
When I first came across Tinkatink, I didn’t think I’d like it very much but decided to try it out due to the cool typing. By the time it got to Tinkatuff, and then Tinkaton, it became one of my favorites and I would take a bullet for it lol

Gen 9: Tinkaton
Pls do most Usable Pokémon in every gen. Or the 2 most usable mons
Even though I watch/play more Pokemon than I breath, I still love Pikachu, and it's one of my favorites, at least top 15
Also Quagsire left the chat
Why was he in the chat?
What about our lord and savior Bidoof?
Tyranitar is really cool, but it was so difficult to get that I don’t know anyone that actually used it. Plus, unless you grind really hard in HGSS, it doesn’t evolve until after the first elite 4 fight-through. I would say Ampharos, Umbreon/Espeon or my man Furret for most popular in Johto. Hell, maybe even Shuckle or Scizor.
Greninja was my favorite water type until Quaquaval
You mentioned Mr. Fish without talking about Wolfey VGC? Remember his whole Mr. Fish cosplay?!?!?
There's absolutely no shot Dracovish is the most popular Gen 8 Pokémon. I see way more love for the likes of Dragapult, Toxtricity and Cinderace. Even Falinks, as much as I'm not crazy about it myself.
Same thing I was thinking
Fishious Rend made it incredibly useful, though, and Ash had one in the anime, though I do agree with most of those options being contenders
I named my tinkaton Lil' Thumper
We were all expecting Gardevoir for gen 3
On god.
Pikachu is that girl! ⚡⚡⚡
I wonder how many People nicknamed their Tinkaton "Amy Rose"
Also I was robbed by Tinkaton...
Nice video
Lol.
Lmao let’s be real, gen one is Charizard smh
Compared to the mascot he only comes in second
gardevoir > rayquaza
Hopefully Zekrom made the cut
My list would’ve been:
1. Pikachu
2. Wooper
3. Mudkip
4. Lucario
5. Hydreigon
6. Greninja
7. Mimikyu
8. Wooloo
9. Lechonk
Not mentioning Flygon is absolutely insane
Yeah when I heard him mention dragons in gen 3 I thought for sure he was going to say Flygon
Flygon is underrated if anything. It never gets enough love ;/
My favorite Pokemon in each generation:
1. Charizard
2. Scizor
3. Rayquaza
4. Lucario
5. Zekrom
6. Greninja
7. Lycanroc
8. Cinderace
9. Miraidon
Wooper
I thought Zoroark was going to win gen 5, but volcarona is a legit choice too!
Zoroark being dogshit and a warping entity by its ability makes people not care for it, and its design is an edgelord's take on Hairmetal.
@F14thunderhawk We're not talking about them in competitively. We're more talking about the mons they were introduced and it's markets.
Actually unpopular opinion: While I really like Lucario, Infernape is better. Way better. In every conceivable way. Lucario only becomes better overall (post Gen 4) cause of Steel getting the buff against Fairies.
Lucario is just the next best option for those who didn't choose Infernape
Can we just appreciate only 1 legendary made the list
Lol putting legendaries on any popularity list is kinds cheating
Zacian is much better than Dracovish. It's absolutely dominating in battles and a wolf with a giant sword like the white wolf from Dark Souls is just AMAZING
Lugia is the most recognizable Johto pokemon. Yamper could be also Galar most popular pokemon. Lechonk is also very recognizable for Gen 9.
Yooooo
Tyranitar is definitely my fave Gen 2 Mon
That and Quagsire
I always thought that the most popular Gen 2 pokémon was suicune
Nope
Sometime feel I'm the only one who doesn't really like Tinkaton. I much prefer pokemon like Skeledirge, Palafin and even Durdunsparce.
Gen I: Pikachu (no need to explain why)
Gen II: Lugia (I would say it’s way more popular than Tyranitar, it’s on the cover of a game as well as being the main ‘mon in the Pokémon 2000 movie, also Dark Lugia in XD)
Gen III: Yeah, it’s Rayquaza and I agree, definitely my favorite legendary ever (though Blaziken is my favorite ‘mon and had a kickass anime introduction, so it was a hard choice for me, but Rayquaza has the game cover plus Destiny Deoxys movie)
Gen IV: Yeah it’s Lucario, same reasons as in the video
Gen V: This one’s a hard choice coz it’s an unpopular generation even amongst fans, though if I had to choose it would be either both legendary dragons Zekrom and Reshiram due to game covers, or perhaps Zoroark since it’s like Gen V’s Lucario even though it’s way less popular
Gen VI: Greninja (Ash-Greninja plus everything else said on the video)
Gen VII: Again I feel like Pokémon’s popularity decreased a lot after gens 3-4, so it’s hard to pick a ‘mon for certain, but I agree with Mystic’s choice
Here's my list for the most popular pokemon of each gen(PS I didn't include legendaries)
Gen 1: Pikachu(Pretty Obvious)
Gen 2: Pichu(I feel like since Lugia is out the og baby pokemon is a good choice especially since Togepi has kinds been forgotten)
Gen 3: Gardevoir(If you ignore the weirdos Gardevoir is super iconic and her Mega and Iron Valiant really helps)
Gen 4: Lucario(Duh)
Gen 5: Zoroak(With its own movie and the attention it's been getting in Gen 9 and Legends Arceus it's been boosted alot)
Gen 6: Greninja(Enough said)
Gen 7: Mimkyu(It's been sweeping the popularity polls)
Gen 8: Toxtricity(It was uses heavy in marketing for gen 8 and is practically the mascot of Gmax)
Gen 9: Tinkaton(No explanation needed)
In 2020 global voting, umbreon had huge lead compare to tyranitar. It's clearly most popular one by far.
The only Pokémon I’ve ever masuda bred on purpose in all of my years was mimikyu. I named it CrackRat
Not me thinking that the Gen 4 section would be Infernape when you said “Goku”, but Lucario was so obvious now that I think about it. 😂
Gen 8 is debatable Dracovish is cool but I would go with corviknight, dragapult or toxtricity
My favorite pokemon in Gen 2 was Lugia only made better by shadow Lugia in XD.
Theres no way bro put Tyranitar over Wooper/Quagsire. Hes about to have some problems (smallant) on his hands.
8:47 actually that battle makes sense, because Water types are totally weak against Fire types!
And with shiny rayquaza Nobunaga has one in final battle as the player in Pokemon conquest
These doesn't look like the most popular of every generations list, it mostly comprises of who you think is/are the coolest is and mostly reserved for hyper avid pokemon fans and not the pokemon fanbase as a whole
I think u got gens:
2, 5, and 7 wrong:
2 is ether Suicune or Lugia
5 is Zoroark
7 is Rowlet or Incineror
I would think Zorua or Zororak would be more popular than Volcarona. Considering the amount of representation: movies, Unite, plushies etc
Plus:
-the love he gets w the anime / Gladion where he tied w Pickachu in the tournament.
-the recent Variant w one of the best typings
-him getting his own mini arch w Hisuan Snow
-the preorder bonus im LoA where that give away his mask.
-him being a presale Incentive to buy the DLC.
-plus that mon bing the 1st hisuian to enter SV.
(If he counted the paradox mons for Volcarona of the same Gen, no reason to overlook this here)
Tyranitar is my second favorite Pokémon ever. BUT, I feel like Lugia is the most popular Gen 2 Pokémon
And what do you think about Scizor?
@@ericlang7987 one of my favs. Steel type my favorite type.
There’s no way mimikyu was chosen over inceniroar…
I love Volcarona, don't get me wrong. But I feel Zoroark is more popular.
I think Gen 2 is Togepi
Gen 5 is Zoroark
Gen 8 is Dragapult
First
"i think its dracovish "
snom: AM I A JOKE TO YOU?!
Iv played pokemon since i was 4, Lucario is my fav pokemon.
So, bidoof, you forgot bidoof, also, gen nine, it's lechonk.
Rayquaza gave me much pain to capture in Ruby
I think lechonk is actually most popular for gen 9 😂
I'd argue that cosmog is more popular than mimikyu
Yeah Lucario gives me Anubis Vibes
Fine selection but I have to call Blaziken for Hoenn.
mimkyu is my fav pokeon ever cuz he did good in a tournement i was in
Excadril is my favorite Gen 5 mon!
Lucario is the best Pokémon ever created.
When I first came across Tinkatink, I didn’t think I’d like it very much but decided to try it out due to the cool typing. By the time it got to Tinkatuff, and then Tinkaton, it became one of my favorites and I would take a bullet for it lol
Same. She's cute, badass and packs a punch with that hammer
@@eljordinio7647 couldn’t agree more if I tried!
i would replace Tinkaton by Annhillape
