ESP MX-250 vs. E-II EX

I did a quick sound comparison of my ESP MX-250 and my new E-II EX. I must say I didn’t try to get them to sound sound identical in this video since they have different string brands and different pickups (the MX has the emg 18v mod as well) and the difference was clearly noticiable but also there are some similarities and I think the EX totally nails that deep Explorer sound we all love. I ran both through the same axe x presets I made. What are your thoughts of this comparison ? Thank you for watching 🤘

They're very similar, though the MX-250 has a little bit fuller sound while the E-II was a little thinner, though that could just be internal biases.

I have the ESP EX E-II NT and it’s amazing. When they say over the $1000 mark for guitars is just for the feel and player, it’s 100% true. That guitar combined with my Mesa Boogie Mark V… that combo is unstoppable

If one of them, no matter which one, was like the „original“ I would say in every way the other one is a perfect sound match. Clean very little differences, with gain almost no difference.

Now if you really want to make yourself feel sick, build a contraption that hold the pickups in free air (and the strings) while maintaining their correct position… You will hear the exact same sound. No joke.
If you don’t want to go through the work it’s been done already in an extensive process and video…
