John, thanks for tuning in and especially your nice comments. I'm glad to hear that you're still getting out there, away from everyone at a remote campsite accessible only by canoe. Nothing better, no matter where you are located! Take care and keep staying young and active!

Awesome video! Thanks for sharing, Mark! I can’t believe those guys have deluxe accommodations for canoe camping-very impressive. Really hope I’m able to make trips into the Q at age 83 like your one canoe mate there-That’s almost unheard of….
    Thanks again!

Luke: thank YOU for watching and especially your comments. Yeah, these guys are something and as for Frank, I actually couldn't keep up with him. I wanted to hang with him and Dave for the entire day and at some point I had to get out of the boat and walk around whereas they can fish ALL day. It's amazing. Like when I was a teenager.

Curious if the guys only go to Kawnipi and their route in? Great vid!

These guys are amazing. I met them on LaCroix a few years ago (it's on a video) and we've kept in touch. In fact, my wife and I just visited with them in TN on a southern tour we undertook last fall. They have travelled all over the parks (Q and the BWCA) and now have concentrated on the NE section of Q, where they get assistance from an outfitter to get in, with the use of ATVs and some feeder creeks. They were not on Kawnipi, but prefer the smaller lakes to the NE.

Stan, I can't speak for them but I can tell you that , going forward, they are leaning towards staying just outside of Quetico at a resort. I think this makes sense for them as some of the members are in their 80's. I've never met such a fun group of great guys! Why don't you reach out to me with a DM at markpotaczek@gmail.com and I'll see if I can help you out.

Hi Mark great video and some awesome fishing. I'm just curious how many portages they had to get in? That was one hell of a camp kitchen setup but my back hurt looking at it. I'm guessing that that group of guys knows more about bass fishing then most people could learn in a hundred lifetimes.

Ben, you nailed it on the fishing skills. These guys have such a touch, as you can see. Remember that they come from a part of the country where bass fishing is a big culture. They all have bass boats and used to fish tournaments in their younger days. The cool thing is that those same skills apply up here to these transplanted smallmouths. As for portages, in that part of the park there is an intricate network of creeks and the Wawiag, and they are all connected to Clay and Powell, so there is a wide variety of opportunities to travel without having to portage.

Wow, no portaging to get to that lake, amazing to watch them hauling in all the fish and the accounting records about their catch. I really enjoyed this 20 Days video series Mark, bravo. I’m also impressed at how much distance you can cover padding solo. Thanks for sharing
