Crazy fact. When Eminem calls himself a school flunky is because he's never passed the 9th grade. One of the reasons he flunked is because he failed English class. Imagine this dude failing English class.

My point is that failing, or not having a high enough grade as you want to put it, is based off of work completed.
It isn't always an indicator of how well you know the material, as merely not doing it will cause you to fail, even if you do know it.
Personally, there were classes that I participated in, to the point that everyone knew I knew the material, and I'd ace my tests regularly, usually with the highest score, yet I'd still fail the class because I found homework and some of the classwork horribly redundant, and therefore didn't do them.

Eminem is the literal god of rap, all of his songs are just amazingly contrasted and even his diss tracks are art themselves, literally ending peoples careers with his responses back.

The Aftermath line is actually pretty deep. It refers to 1) Dr. Dre's label "Aftermath" and he's saying it's ironic that it's named Aftermath, andt blew up AFTER Marshall MATHers joined the label. It's also a play on what the "Aftermath" and/or consequences will be when Eminem eventually leaves the label, and the rap game entirely, creating his own aftermath.
