I've been playing Hollow Knight again recently after getting emotional from fanworks of these three. "Broken Open Revealing Hollowness and Vibrance" by JaxxCapta on ao3 actually made me cry and "Little Hornet", an animation by DarkmaneTheWerewolf made my heart swell and gush because I'm reduced to an easily emotional mess.
My brothers got me to play the game a year ago and I managed to make it to Kingdom's edge, but I let them save over my file and I never picked up the game again until now. I'm not good at metroidvanias and hell, I'm not really an avid gamer myself, so I'm not sure if I can get the "best ending" I want, which is the Embrace the void ending because wooha, I saw the gameplay for that ending and I'm already sweating in my seat. But uhh, I'll just play and see what I can get!
Art notes : Man, I'm kinda proud of this one... I never do animation ever but I had a random burst of motivation that made me complete this in 2 days so honestly, I'll take it. I still have a lot I can improve on, especially with the consistency of the characters as well as the overall intentionality when I'm drawing the frames (I just went on instinct and didn't really think about the "theory" or the stuff I'm missing whilst I just go ham blind kasjdkadh)
I used flipaclip for the animation, and I did some compositing effects in Blender (The UI is still the bane of my existence)
Colouring was a bit of a tedious process in flipaclip, mainly because each of the layers don't affect each other, and if I wanted to do the colouring on a separate layer, I'd have to outline the colours for every different frame and bucket tool it. Same goes for the shading lmao

Capes are a staple of Hollow Knight's characters and frankly I was a little daunted on how to animate them at first, but after a little finicking around and much copy pasting, I managed to get a hang of it, somewhat lmao
