Ray-Ban x Boiler Room 005 witnessed Brooklyn-based Oneohtrix Point Never unveil a specially created A/V show with visual collaborator Nate Boyce, continuing the artist’s singular statement of shattering electronic experiments. Unpredictable as ever, this one really affirms Lopatin's position as one of the digital vanguard's most enigmatic experimentalists.

The problem with Oneohtrix and musicians of his caliber is that you wish they had an infinite catalog. This guy is up there with Autechre, Aphex, Floating Points, Boards etc. An absolute legend. Such emotive and powerful music. Thank you
I feel like for once the boiler room crowd can be forgiven for not dancing.
i'd have danced
few homies in the corners really are trying though
Would be dancing like those creepy marionettes or the nurses from silent hill in between the flickering.
I've listened to this set many times, it deserves its own release. OPN should release a 'live' album!
I'd kill for a high quality recording of this on vinyl
so true
5th time for me im still a rookie
i remember when Garden of Delete came out
it was the first time i listened to OPN... it was in autumn, in the afternoon... i listened to the album 4 times in a row - i was completely blown away and i cried of beauty many times
i don't know what happened that day
i don't usually cry when listening to music...
it is still to this day the most intense and emotional musical experience i ever lived in my room
i felt the same way in the same period of the year and in the afternoon, but when Replica came out. I remember stumbling on the videoclip for Replica and immediately feeling something that I had never felt listening to an ambient music piece in a long time. Then i heard Andro and Sleep Dealer and I was floored. It was like nothing i had ever heard. Absolutely alien but absolutely beautiful.
The version of Boring Angel at the end is completely crazy. Love all the synth stuff that he adds when he plays live.
I've watched this performance probably 40 times now.
It's legendary, utterly breathtaking
Great music to listen to while writing emails
31:24 is just incredible, when I saw him in Bristol earlier this year when Chrome Country came in it just blew my mind. That tonal percussive instrument is just so clean and free.
Nothing more to saw other than this man is a genius and will be remembered in years to come.
I saw him there too! I love that Junos shot up in price a couple of years ago in part due to this man, and now he mainly seems to use very digital sounds and Omnisphere samples. Absolutely brilliant the way he manipulates sounds.
favorite song from him.
Do you know the name of the song?
Was that at the Arnolfini? I saw him at the Cube touring Replica as well!
Tracklist, I missed some so lmk
0:23 Still Life
8:49 ???
13:19 Along
16:39 ???
21:49 ??? sounds like Child of Rage
24:58 ???
28:38 Zebra
31:24 Chrome Country
37:39 Boring Angel
4th song is a reworking of "Americans"
@@axumisiarecords143 thank you!
Something very important is happening and it's deeply connected to my purpose
never expected the guy who pioneered the vaporwave genre and the guy who made cbat to be in the same set, very epic, love this
absolutely devastating, not many artists out there right now on this level...
Haxan Cloak
Tim Hecker and Lawrence English
Arca's live shows are insane. And that's both the worst and best you could say about it. They really are insane. This one is more about the music I think
James Ferraro, Holly Herndon, Arca, Visible Cloaks, Fatima Al Qadiri. But agreed, OPN is above.
This is absolutely fantastic
almost three years old and still absolutely next level shit
Playing this for my neighbors this morning, distopic set
I´ve listened this now four or five times in a row, sounds better than some of his albums. This is really good set, just perfect atmosphere to dive in. Everything flows so smoothly.
how i imagine discovering new planets and lifeforms feels like, within a dream.
uhhh such a set, this is love 24:59
Great companion to his released work around that time
ahhh this version of chrome country slays
imagine taking someone here on a date...who has no idea what lopatin is into
I took my best friend with me to an OPN show and she'd never listened to him before, I think her face melted
That certainly happened, because he was touring with NIN in 2014 and for whatever reason, Soundgarden was the other large band.
So yeah, you can imagine a bunch of Soundgarden fans who don't listen to any electronic music at all not knowing what to make of this.
what a wonderful first impression!
they'd be thinking "wow.. i must have died and gone to heaven cuz this is freakin fire"
I made that years ago....but for Mars Volta show.
the version of still life that opens this set is absolutely massive. it takes the best parts of the original climax and does something totally new with them. spellbinding stuff
Best boiler room ever!
VJ aswell!
Great musicians
"A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Ultraworld"
best thing i have heard in years.
I love sounds
fantastic!
This man is a fucking genius

i like the parts where its pitch black and there are tons of weird sounds. i wish i was there and i had never heard of OPN or nate boyce
Awesome

This is fucking stellar
Pouah! Masterclass :o
I wonder what this would be like on Lsd. Gotta try it on some good speakers
I wish the album version of R Plus 7 was like this...
That beginning though
os cara sao de outro planeta kkkkk
I hope he releases that tune at 22:00 , the melodies are beautiful.
Good ear.
clarky
WOW!
Mason Craig huuhuhuhuhuuhu
yoseppesoy chip roll!
Madman!!!
these fucking unbelievable visuals. i was completely hypnotized when i saw him on the garden of delete tour. unreal. the words that constantly went by at the bottom of the screen felt like a completely lucid recreation of a psychoactive stream of consciousness.
Nate Boyce
cool!
I thought for a minute they were wearing Korn t shirts
they are
JeffreyHexagon they aren’t
@@timvapid they edited the korn logo into opn shirts
25:00 is unreal
Daniel should do music for video games.
FonchCakes he composes soundtracks for movies
What a way to end a set god damn
this version of still life is better imo
yeah i would do tracks that are good but if i did them live i would keep it identical to the original just to be fair
yesssss
Love how this comment section is full of every possible timestamp asking what the song is
this is sheer excellence. 75K views while Solomun surpasses 10M... lol. Happy to be here (and having seen him in London :))
not fair to compare. they are just different kinds of art
is there a tracklist to this?
godamn this is so fucking dope
17:43 best song
DOPE
That last song almost killed me.

David Leon Senger That was simple, yet entertaining.
Finally
Now if R Plus Seven sounded like this, I would've loved it.
what didnt you like about it?
It isn't a terrible record, but compared to albums like Replica and Garden of Delete, the tracks aren't as memorable to me IMO. Of course I love tracks like Zebra and Still Life, but if the record sounded more vast and manic like this live set, I would definitely be more fond of it. At the end of the day, I still love 0PN and appreciate the crazy shit he does.
yeah that makes sense because i also used to think r + 7 was less memorable but i like it much more now. its definitely one of those albums that you have to let sink in. but yeah more or less i agree with you. good times :D
This version of Still Life is 100x better than the album version.
love R Plus Seven
Moooy bue !
Please come tô Brazil
do you think that if there's a malfunction in gear and actual feedback and audio errors occur they don't stop the set? i feel like they wouldn't.
a professional finds a way to work around/with it and not break the illusion
Danny probably only notices it.
fav part from 00:00 - 44:31

Moisés Daniel Plen.
rocknrolldude3212 Because it's an obscure style of music played by someone who isn't exactly super well known.

i wanna die listening this
anyone knows his setup? dying to know what he uses to do this?
+Marvin Staal a computer. the dude samples a ton of analogue gear and edits live
+Marvin Staal He is also using roland sp 555 samplers. They have a cool option of assigning some video clips to samples. They display as you play the pads and while you use effects on them, the video is also manipulated. Lots of his visuals are being created this way
+Marvin Staal he always changes setup, i had seen him 3 times, n he uses different things most of times
I just want the audio to this :(
