+woozibunny Oh wow, it's actually international. Most international "American food" places that Japan don't really exist in America. Its cool that this one actually does
I love to watch you try different foods! I don't know why it's so satisfying to see people eat. :) Those dollar pancakes might be similar to a Dutch dish we call 'poffertjes', which are basically mini pancakes served with butter and icing sugar. They are sooooo good! Try them if ever you are in Holland.
Looking out the window at 2:15 I notice you were quite high up. That's one thing we don't really have in America, restaurants in tall buildings. With a few exceptions of course.
Isaki Tahashi Yeah I guess in big areas like that where people want to look out and see the sites. I don't think I've really seen it in Philadelphia or New York, around that area.
+Sharla in Japan hey sharla if u ever come to california and wanna taste amazing pancakes i reccomend the "Silver Dollar pancake house" in Corona CA the silver dollar pancakes are just amazingly fluffy and yummy!
+ Sharla in Japan There's another American pancake restaurant in 表參道 and it is called "Café Kaila". Have you ever tried it? I heard that you have to wait for hours to get into it, but the food is totally worthy. Uploaded the subs :)
Oh wow! I saw the little pancake cook logo on the menu, and thought, no... It couldn't be, but it was! We have Walker Brother's over here, which is part of the same chain. I LOVE their pancakes! The Dutch Baby is my absolute favorite. Try that some time, without any fruit. Over here it is just a pancake with a dusting of powdered sugar. A puffy piece of pancake heaven. 😋
oh those matcha pancakes looked good. i almost want to try to make them at home with some anko sauce....hmmm good idea. This pancake place looks awesome! cause pancakes rock!
For anyone who doesn't know: the "dutch" dishes are called dutch babies! They're so so amazing and I could even say better than regular pancakes. They're normally made in a cast iron skillet in the oven and kind of a mix of a pancake, crepe, and popover
That's so crazy! They've expanded so much. I remember when they were just in Oregon, Colorado, and a few places here and there 15-20 years ago. Such good fooooood.
Those pancakes looked really good! Also the music that was playing in the restaurant at the end is from the game Life is Strange. It freaked me out when I noticed it.
In Germany, we also have pancakes, called Pfannkuchen, but they are way thiner than those in Japan or America, but are larger in size, almost as big as your plate. Kinda like Crepes. Usually we eat them with ham and cheese, Nutella (nut nougat cream) or applesauce, at least where i´m from. You distribute your favourite topping evenly on it, roll them in and enjoy. Very tasty :)
This was so entertaining to watch, because I used to work at an Original Pancake House in Washington state (in America). I had no idea that Japan had locations. Seeing the menu in Japanese is so weird haha.
The thumbnail made my mouth water, especially since I'm hungry right now>. < I want these pancakes soo bad, they look unhealthy but I bet they are sooo good!
This is awesome! LOVE the Original Pancake House. I saw the one in Kichijoji when I was there, and it was SO STRANGE to see since I had no idea there were any in Asia! I assumed it was just an American thing. I've been going to the ones in Southern California since I was a little kid, and it is by far my favorite pancake place. Apparently there's the one in Korea and two in Japan. You should definitely try the "Dutch Baby" by the way (which is called a "German Pancake" at some locations). It's very fluffy and actually quite easy to make yourself. You should also try the 49'er Flapjacks, which are large and thin - kind of like crepes, but are very different taste and texture-wise.
You should definitely try the sweet dutch baby! It is SO good! Also, I really like the eggs Benedict there. My husband and I usually order this and split them because the servings are big!
I went there about a month ago with some friends and can vouch for the pancakes. If you like pancakes, get them here! :) Glad to see that the Japanese Pancake RUclipsr agrees!
Yoooo I heard Mountains by Message to Bears in the background near the end of the video! O_O That's so cool that Japanese people listen to that kind of music in a pancake house!
Looks very very yummie!! Also the restaurant makes a very modern and clean impression! But the price of the mixed fruit pancake is way over the top... 20$ haha wow!! :D Thanks for sharing!
I was surprised to find out that this place originated from the US. I've heard of it before. They have a few locations in California so I'm going to go for a visit. I hope they're as good as you say they are Sharla :)
i love the buttermilk pancakes the most, i go to several places here in Enid oklahoma to get my pancake fix while in yokosuka i would go to a grocery store that had a belgian waffle place right next to it. was the BEST
Little pancakes as you refer to, are actually called 'poffertjes'. It's a Dutch thing :p Usually only the pancake taste and nothing else, but there are always variation possibilities of course! Pancakes as idea was thought up in ancient though. They have been around since 5 BC (at least)
I totally have to check that place out. Funnily enough, I think I may end up incorporating a lot of the attractions you've featured in your videos in my "dream Japan trip". :P
I tried the strawberry ones I think and they were also good haha~ also got the ham side order there for like $15 haha so expensive. Oh god I want pancakes now! haha
Added to my list of places to eat at whilst in Tokyo. It amazes me just how many places I have now eaten at/wanting to eat at in Tokyo after first watching them on your channel! xD My favourite place being Noa Cafe for their Cinnamon Apple waffles! :3
U should definitely check out the pancake restaurant in Kyoto called "ラインベック" The pancake there is super delicious. Like other pancakes are not even comparable. And the shop it self is 町家style. U can enjoy that cozy feeling too.
Sharla I think you're awesome cool! my boyfriend and I are here in Tokyo and we are from Sweden and thank you for lots of tips // Thank you from the Swedes ;)
Oh nice, I've been to their Kichijoji branch - didn't realise there was one in Harajuku. :) (Also I didn't realise you knew Merete too - I met her at Josh's birthday! Lovely girl!)
Haven't read all the comments but there's one here near me in Redondo Beach. I think the original original pancake House is in Oregon? The menu style is the same. Our favorite is the swedish pancakes. Their corned beef hash is awesome too
I'm so glad you mentioned the price! I get a couple to a few pancakes (large almost plate size) here in California (in a relatively expensive neighborhood) with 2 eggs and 2 sausages and it's under $10 before the tip.Oh, and they're really good. I can, in the same neighborhood, spend more for the same thing but it's not as good. But it would have been odd if you didn't mention the price, although if it's something you're used to, why would you?
There is an original pancake house in Portland Oregon if you every travel that area 15 minutes away from Portland is Lake Oswego where there is a vegan bakery that specializes in cupcakes!
Omg! Another place I need to go if I visit Japan! Those matcha and red bean pancakes look sooooooo good! Lol. Do you know if they were special edition? Or always available? ☺️😍
+kuratajutsu The other items on the menu were reasonably priced. Anything with fruit will be more expensive in Japan because fruit is very expensive there.
***** Land is limited, and most of the remaining open space is devoted to rice and tea crops. I love fruit, but when I lived there I had to decrease my intake because they are super expensive. You will literally find mangos selling for a couple hundred bucks. Melons are also expensive. You can get bananas and oranges for reasonable prices though.
+kuratajutsu Whoa, no, even for Japan those mixed berry pancakes are expensive. That place must be super trendy. It should be 1300-1600 yen for fruit items at your typical overpriced place, not 2100 yen.
+terrakie yes, Just 2 peaches are Like 800 yens, Like 7 euros. and in my country, spain, it is less than an euro... so yes, fruits are very very expensive. all of them, at least comoared with spain
Hi Sharla!! I recently discovered your channel and I became an instant fan!! I was just wondering if you're a student there? And if so, have you been for many years and when do you end your time in Japan? Sorry for all the questions!
Ohhhh Gooosh it's so expensive though ! I'm living in Asakusa at the moment and was thinking about going there but WOW the price :(((( But it look really really yum, I give you that!
My mom used to make the Dutch pancakes. If they are filled with fruit and topped with whipped cream they are delicious. I bet they would be great with bean paste too. I never would have though putting vegetables on it. That doesn't seem fitting for a Dutch pancake.
I tried this place when I was in Tokyo, wasn't too bad. Another good pancake spot, which I prefer over Original Pancake Place, is called J.S Pancake Cafe, in Shimokitazawa. Really good pancakes, good menu, not over sized. Really simple, and good tea 😻
+Sharla in Japan pretty sure you can take the Keio-Inokashira Line from Shibuya station. J.S. Have these pancake cakes that look like ice cream sandwiches, they're so good (⌒▽⌒)
Whenever I have problems eating due to my stomach issues Sharla's videos never fail to give me an appetite. Thank you for that!
BillundBerries this is adorable
original pancake house is my favorite place to eat and I live in Minnesota... I had NO idea that they were international, that is so cool!
+woozibunny Oh wow, it's actually international. Most international "American food" places that Japan don't really exist in America. Its cool that this one actually does
+woozibunny Same here! I live in Washington state and we have one right down the street from my house.
I have to say, I have watched almost all of Sharla's videos and she has an amazing talent for describing and comparing foods.
@Sharla in Japan- love your videos and how you put the happy, cheerful music in the background. Makes your videos even happier
I love how they showed the view but it's just a bunch of grey clouds and happy music.
Lol, love that Jack Johnson is playing in the background while Sharla was eating banana pancakes
As someone mentioned, there's some all over the states :) I can't wait to go try them! I looked it up and the closest to me is like 15 min away. Yay!
Why do I always watch these food vlogs from you at night D:
I love to watch you try different foods! I don't know why it's so satisfying to see people eat. :)
Those dollar pancakes might be similar to a Dutch dish we call 'poffertjes', which are basically mini pancakes served with butter and icing sugar. They are sooooo good! Try them if ever you are in Holland.
Looking out the window at 2:15 I notice you were quite high up. That's one thing we don't really have in America, restaurants in tall buildings. With a few exceptions of course.
+Phil Nolan It's common here in Vegas. If you go to the strip there are all kinds of restaurants up high.
Isaki Tahashi
Yeah I guess in big areas like that where people want to look out and see the sites. I don't think I've really seen it in Philadelphia or New York, around that area.
That's what I was thinking too. I don't think I've ever seen a restaurant that high up in Florida.
greeneyegal10
I guess Philadelphia and Florida aren't quite as densely populated as Tokyo.
+Phil Nolan Also, keep in mind that there's very limited space in Japan, Korea, etc. Therefore, they must build vertically.
WOW - They were expensive indeed !!! But that looks like a lot of fun !!!! Thanks for sharing.
They look delicious! 😍

OMG!! that reminds me of our seoul adventures! Miss you much! I loved those chocolate pancakes hahaha!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING ME THIS PLACE. Oh man. You have no idea how relieved I was when I saw they had one in Tokyo xD;; Miss you~~
+Sharla in Japan We have a few of those in Minnesota! Next time try the 49'er flapjacks, I know you will love them!
Oh wow! I saw the little pancake cook logo on the menu, and thought, no... It couldn't be, but it was! We have Walker Brother's over here, which is part of the same chain. I LOVE their pancakes! I should not be watching this at midnight haha! Great video shar!
For anyone who doesn't know: the "dutch" dishes are called dutch babies! They're so so amazing and I could even say better than regular pancakes. They're normally made in a cast iron skillet in the oven and kind of a mix of a pancake, crepe, and popover
I want to go to Japan pretty badly, can't wait to get there one day :D
Hey. It's been 5 years. Did you get the time and chance to travel?
That's so crazy! They've expanded so much. I remember when they were just in Oregon, Colorado, and a few places here and there 15-20 years ago. Such good fooooood.
Those pancakes looked really good!
Also the music that was playing in the restaurant at the end is from the game Life is Strange. It freaked me out when I noticed it.

I think we have something like that in Michigan! And, OMG if you come to Nagoya I know some great pancake places!
Booking my ticket nowwwww
+Sharla in Japan you love your pancakes lol
Yayy I love you! I've been looking for a pancake/breakfast restaurant like this for a while now. I'm definitely going to check this place out. :D
It's 2 am and I'm craving pancakes!
The thumbnail made my mouth water, especially since I'm hungry right now>. < I want these pancakes soo bad, they look unhealthy but I bet they are sooo good!
they seem so pricey! but look delicious 😋
This is awesome! LOVE the Original Pancake House. I saw the one in Kichijoji when I was there, and it was SO STRANGE to see since I had no idea there were any in Asia! Oh wow, we have an original pancake house here in San Diego. That's cool!
Omg! It looks so good 😍😍
It would be a more complete meal if you had a side meal or something like hash brown made from potatoes
+Viet Lee I don't like any salty foods with my pancakes though, I see them as more of a dessert, not a meal :)
+Sharla in Japan It's so funny because you don't know the internet joke of Viet Lee commenting on everything with something about potatoes XD
+Ivy rose OH. HAHA.
+Viet Lee Could you go back to the JK channels? I thought I'd found a channel safe from you.
Still talking about potatoes? I never thought I'd see you here, Viet lee! :))
I always love buttermilk pancakes
You should definitely try the sweet dutch baby! It is SO good! Also, I really like the eggs Benedict there. My husband and I usually order this and split them because the servings are big!

Glad to see that the Japanese Pancake RUclipsr agrees!
+Veerexx Lair Haha yassss. I can't think of one bad thing to say about this place. They were SO GOOD.
Ohhh I'm sooo happy you made this video! I've been craving these type of pancakes but I just moved to Tokyo so I don't know where anything is, ahaha!
Came for the pancakes, stayed for adorable baby merete .D !
Yoooo I heard Mountains by Message to Bears in the background near the end of the video! O_O That's so cool that Japanese people listen to that kind of music in a pancake house!

It looks good! I fell like eating them right now ~美味しそうですね!夜なのにお腹空いてきましたw
Oh sharla you love your pancakes
My mom always said stuff was expensive in Japan but the more I watch your channel the more I realize she's totally right.

I eat pancakes for breakfast and during the hurricane I ate pancakes with my family and friends in Houston TX :)
Alexa C I don’t live far from you 😅
looks so good! MUST EAT PANCAKES NOW O.O!

This makes me so happy that breakfast food is like $5.00 on average in the states.
+Alyssa Hanson In what way does it make you happy? Because it isn't as expensive as here in Japan, or??
OMG they look sooooo good! I'm definitely checking this place out now ;) lol

The Dutch Apple are one of our favorites! We have a couple "Original Pancake House" here in the Detroit area.
And I really crave pancakes now.

we have these in minnesota o.o... I must go now
We have Original Pancake House here in Colorado. I love their crepes the most!
what?! why is it so expensive?? Even at IHOP you could get away with under $10

What is pancake syrup like in Japan? Is it different or distinctive?
Hi Sharla!! I recently discovered your channel and I became an instant fan!! I was just wondering if you're a student there? And if so, have you been for many years and when do you end your time in Japan? Sorry for all the questions!
OMG ONE OF THE SONGS IS FROM LIFE IS STRANGE!!! 4:30
They have these in America too! i've never actually been in one but I've seen one around my house.
I do enjoy pancakes, though I now only use maple syrup mixed with honey, and make sure I sprinkle cinnamon over them.
Ohhhh Gooosh it's so expensive though ! I'm living in Asakusa at the moment and was thinking about going there but WOW the price :((((
But it look really really yum, I give you that!
You should try the pancake place in the Shinjuku JR Station!
Did you try the fruit syrup? It looked yummy!
Yeah it was pretty good!!! But since the banana ones are fruity already, I prefer the pancake syrup ^^
Good grief! The pancakes look so moreish & appetizing! I love pancakes. By the way, to be honest, I've not gone out for meals for a long time.
かわいい😍😍😍
looks deliciouse! I want eat too.

Dollar Pancakes are more money than regular Buttermilk Pancakes? What is this blasphemy?
Since they're tiny they probably give you more.
there's no better combination than Ice Cream and Pancakes/French Toast.
none
