i just finished this album and i want to write you a special message and say thank you for making music and thank you for being who you are and sharing all these different and beautiful parts of yourself with the world. words cannot express how much your music has meant to me. at times it's made me feel alive, it's made me feel nostalgia, it's made me feel comfort and it's made me cry. now with this new record, i cant express just how meaningful and personal and relatable it is to me. i've been through everything, growing up with extremely religious parents, being unloved and abused and neglected, never knowing what gentleness means. so much trauma and hurt and on top of it all finding out i was queer while being stuck in an unbearably religious country where there is almost no chance to run away. i've not been able to make it out unfortunately but sometimes i dream i would and your story is just so beautiful to me and makes me dream even more. hearing all your lyrics and reading all the interviews and seeing all the videos of you talking about your childhood and how you learned to love yourself and be gentle with yourself and learn to be your own parent is so inspiring. i will love and cherish this album forever. when you said in harms "for all the motherless sons, i cant speak for you. i only have my stories, i only hold my harms. but im angry for you and im angry for me." those lines mean everything. such a beautiful concept and beautiful story and meaningful imagery. what you said in one of your interviews about the album covers and how you went back to your old childhood home to take these pictures as a way to sort of reclaim power in those spaces which you were powerless... all of it is so unbelievably beautiful and vulnerable and gentle. it feels like the album that you've wanted to create since the beginning and im so glad that you were able to do so and im so grateful that i was able to experience your work and love it and appreciate it. i so hope that this message gets to you somehow. i know this is a lot but i write all this to sort of share my story in return and i really want you to understand how much you and your work and your story mean to me and to so many other people too. it's so hard to find hope in my situation but i really don't want to give up. i really wish i can learn to love myself and be gentle with myself and heal that hurt and broken child inside of me some day. i wish i can tell myself and feel all these nice things that i've always wanted someone to tell me. i wish that some day i can say that i used to want to die.
