Have you ever considered working for the Department of Corrections, they play really well and are very open to new grads. The training opportunities are great, it’s PC + UC + ED. The flexibility is great.
@@LifeAsWendyRN, they gave me 135K+ which is great for this area since many of my classmates are making around 100K. I have heard that you either like it or hate it. I can do anything for a year and I’m very much a person of faith, when it’s my time, it’s my time. They recruited me and it’s the only job I applied for, they let me work 4 tens so I can’t complain and unlike other places I see an average of 12-16 patients a day. After a year I should have a lot of options and even telehealth opportunities.
@@LifeAsWendyRN, yes! I’ve been told that the men’s prisons are much easier because as a general rule they’re more respectful to women. I worked at a Level I trauma center and we often had in ages brought in. I hear they treat the providers really well because they’re at the mercy of the provider. Plus you get really good at doing procedures. The security clearance is rigorous you wouldn’t have any problems. I think many think anyone that works there is icky but it’s quite the contrary. No weekends and no call.
Don’t get rid of your white coats, they’re expensive and when you start working as an NP you might need them. I will be starting the job at the DOC soon and if you’re interested I will let you know how it goes. They are working towards offering more telehealth options so that’s exciting.
