  • I've been gathering parts for my next build. . . A v4 350cc 2 Stroke, this will be lost foam cast and machined mostly in my shed. I will make a video taking you through the design on Fusion 360 and the considerations I've made.

Something that I always fancied doing... Looking forward to this one. Good luck.

Thanks, I’ve had someone reach out to me who’s local and has made a similar engine. Which runs and is finished. So I’ve definitely got a good source of experience heading into this project and I’m sure a bit of luck never hurts.

That video answered alot of my curiosities. I admire your engine designing and modding skills. No hack work. Nice to see your projects coming along.
Keep this stuff coming. I am way jealous of your cad and cnc capabilities. A tour through your shop and machinery video would be awesome.. You remind me of a kiwi version of Allen Millyard.
Check his youtube channel unless you have already seen it. Nice bloke, very talented.
    Now..... onto this 2st v4 👍
    Cheers, Paul

Thanks, the V4 is definitely a way off as the cassette gearbox design is still being fettled with and will be 3D printed and tested before I carry on.
The CAD and CNC capabilities were all acquired and learnt over the last two years to take on these kind of projects. Mostly learnt through RUclips and online tutorials.
Allen did provide quite a bit of inspiration for the V twin build, although I had to figure most of it out for myself as he doesn’t quite elaborate on every detail you would want to know. As 99.9% of people aren’t going to attempt something similar.
I’ve got a garage tour on my channel, it was done a while back but check it out if you haven’t already.

Subscribed to see this project. Commenting now to say nice work and also for the algorithm, hello algorithm. More of this sort of thing please.

Thanks, hopefully more like minded people get to see the project as it unfolds.

I'm delighted to discover your chain. Which cylinders will your V4 use?
Why not use a rotary intake like on a 500 RG or the Aprilia RS 250, which are exceptional machines.

I’m using YZ85 cylinders, mostly due to cost and size. The reason I am using reeds is I can make the bike narrower and less prone to damage in a crash. Also the lower frontal area could negate the HP disadvantage of the reeds against the rotary valve.
