headybud however, just before that when he was asked if he had enough money, he said ”no, not the way I want to live”. Doesn’t take very much money to live in a tent, does it? And he also talked about waking up and diving to his INDOOR swimming pool. It feels like when the interviewer pointed out that it sounded quite luxurious, Jimi quickly tried to save his image as a hippie and made it sound like he talked about a tent beside a stream.

I think even Jimi would be somewhat annoyed by that honor. He was just one color of the rainbow...well...maybe he was many colors of the rainbow for moments but you catch my drift. I'm drawn to the message of his songs sometimes more than the melody because electric guitar can be too crunchy, screechy, and distorted at times for my ears. He certainly seemed to be one with his guitar like no other.
I like what Jimi says about his stuff being raw and without rounded edges. His artistry wasn't a collaboration of studio magicians and mixers...it was just him expressing himself without censor. Jimi seemed to be completely undiluted by anything and that resonates with people for obvious reasons. The truth always hits harder than even the sweetest lie.

one thing I'm seeing in these historical people: insecurity. It's amazing. But I get that from Jimi, Phillip, Kurt, Janis, Meryl of course Elliott....all except MJ (criminal or not his voice and talent was godly...he was on a high real young). But insecurity is the main personality trait I pick up...amongst these giants....these perfectionists.

    • @vinayseth1114

+Sam O'd Hmm..how did Jimi come across as insecure in this one?

    • @MrAfroShark
      @MrAfroShark 9 лет назад +22

+Sam O'd The thing is that, no one is perfect. We all know that and we all stress out about it in different ways and cope. Everybody has their own shortcomings and its important to recognize that to make yourself stronger. You only change by acknowledging your own machinations. If you can't even do that, you're going to have a tough and most likely jaded life ahead of you. It is rare for an artist who truly believes in their message to just say they have reached their peak and stop. You can't take the soul of a person out of them, you can only let it live until it gets tired. Its why suicide is a common sort of part of being an artist or at least for many artists. There's comes a point where stress just gets to you, the people all around you seem to be closing in. Its difficult. People put their lives and minds on the line for the sake of humanity and sometimes, you just snap.

I remember the first ever Jimi Hendrix song I heard.
    It was Purple Haze.
I remember, that at that time I was still going to Kindergarten and was about to go to my grandparents house one day after.
They had this big old 1990's grey samsung T.V..
I watched so many movies on that thing, that I clearly remember.
But a very certain movie, that I don't exactly remember, but 100 percent sure wasn't a Vietnam War movie, included this very track.
My ears were nailed to the T.V.'s speakers when that intro rolled.
That exact: dah Dah dah Dah dah Dah dah Dah
And the melodic riff of Jimi Hendrix's signature song started jumping left and right and a very deep and scratchy voice was shouting words, that I couldn't understand.
I swear I felt like I heard that song somewhere.
It was of course impossible, 'cause Rock n roll was and is banned in my country.
For Years I wondered what song that was.
    Who wrote it...
    Who performed it...
It was like an unreachable achievement, that was only possible out of the walls and rules.
But what could a lil kid do?
It was all like that, until just around 1 or 2 years ago.
I was taking interest in music history and a thumbnail popped on the RUclips's home screen with a skinny looking, afro, black dude wearing a red dress on it, holding a stratocaster.
Simply titled The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Purple haze live at Atlanta.
(I didn't realised the guitar was upside down until I watched it again)
It starts with a non sence intro that I didn't recognized.
    dArA DaRa dArA DaRa
    But then that melodic riff.
I just simply couldn't believe it.
    I found it.
That same rhythm, that same feeling, that same deep but scratchy voice.
This time I knew what he was saying.
And since that very day all I listen to is The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
The very lost sound of my childhood.
It was back and was going to stay.
    Thanks Jimi.
    For been existing.

As someone who carries Jimi close to my heart and my absolute favorite guitar player, it makes me sad to hear just how light hearted and humorous he was only a week before he died. I am not sure why, but it has always been pushed that he was miserable and searching for a direction when he died. This shows how there was just no way he 'helped' the way he ended. I mean, there is a picture taken of him the day before he passed of him pouring tea into a cup for his Stratocaster he has sitting in a chair next to him. What that man did in 4 short years is staggering. One of the most gigantic tragedies in all of music is that he did not get to continue to grow and evolve.

"Like something, you know.." That about sums up Jimi's abilities when speaking...He really "talked" better with his guitar. This combo of Jimi talking, while being lampooned in a very cool way in these drawings, is brilliant!. Poor Jimi, he was so far ahead of his time, and he had a desperate belief that his music could change the world we live in! Notice, that in this interview, Hendrix is expressing his insecurity about his music being appreciated in a proper way. Guess what, Jimi....some of us did indeed really "dig" your message, and I wish you had not been so worried about that issue. Many geniuses are not appreciated in their lifetimes...Since your death Jimi, I have continued to play your music, and wonder as to how you managed to do what you did! And there are a few million of us that understand!

I have not heard jimi Hendrix like I had not heard Jim Morrison speak and I'm so jealous of those ppl who spoke with them, heard their songs (live) or hung around with them they were so sorted out with their thoughts, like what they want, feel etc.... Jimi Hendrix has such a beautiful soulful voice. These gems left too soon.

Believe It or Not, Jimi was in an Army Airborne Division before his musical career. I have seen copies of his Army Psychiatric Report, and all I can say is "What were they thinking putting him in an Airborne Division!" The report indicates they seemed to be trying to accommodate him, but he was totally beyond reach. Both Jimi and the Army psychiatrists were crazy, especially in light of Jimi's bizzare behavior, which I'll not elaborate upon.

Jimi was just trying to get an early discharge from the Army, and figured out a way to get one...he acted slovenly, acted "gay" in front of a few of his fellow soldiers, and so he achieved his early -out, after 13 months of service...BTW, he had chosen to become a paratrooper, when he enlisted.
