    For the drawing light and erasing, I find a mechanical pencil and putty eraser excellent

      That's a good tip! There are so many traditional tools out there you just gotta find the one that works best for you. I personally like using the blue or red pencil because going over it with lead or even a black ballpoint creates a nice contrast and I don't mind seeing the underlying sketch when it's just for sketchbook goofin'.
