I’m really torn on how Peckham is these days. I feel like the new lot don’t belong here but the old Peckham was rough and dangerous. A real tough place to grow up
Great video tc. They built that centre after that little schoolboy got murdered as a tribute. This has all been regenerated. Was a hell of an area in the early 90s
Love bro 🔥🔥
What did the centre replace? More blocks?
@@codpro627 yeah, that’s where north pecks estate was. They knocked it all down not long after damilola was murdered. Now they’re knocking everything down again and rebuilding
@@jsav2236 I swear north pecks Estate still exists? Daniel Gardens and Garnies Close bit still exists
@@codpro627 there’s a couple block still there but it’s not the same. North pecks estate used to span across the whole south of burgess park
But today's a quite fine time
I'm alright
My time is good
Apparently some of the old blocks are still standing. However there are no elevated walkways/ staircases and no upper storey shops. When were all these removed? And also what used to be the western part of the estate ( Samuel street etc. ) is now only low rise. When were these blocks demolished?
The shops would have been removed by the early 2000s.
Elevated walkways were gone by the mid-1990s.
Well i've cooked alot honestly before
Kinda breaks my heart what’s happening to pecks
Why bro? You don't like the changes?
@@TeaAndCrumpets taken away much of the history of the block
I hear that bro
@@codpro627 that and gentrification is just ruining places like Peckham and Brixton. Doesn’t give the same feeling walking through peckham anymore
@@jsav2236I could be completely wrong but I sense a bit of hostility and resentment to gentrification and the influx of white middle class in Peckham. Just an observation and I’m in Peckham rarely so I could easily be imagining things. It reminded me of Harlem in NYC.
Brixton - although still has the Brixton of old - feels long gone.
Wouldn't want to walk down their at night
Bro it’s not the 1990s or 2000s
@@codpro627 you can still find trouble easily in those places. But you’re right that Brixton and Peckham specifically aren’t as fearsome as they were in that time
@@eastender_ tbh north Peckham Estate ain’t even active anymore.
@@codpro627 the new peckham youngers are known for staining civilians bro
@@jsav2236 nowhere near as bad as back in the 1990s and 2000s g
