Im a cat fan myself i own cat equipment but ive also operated a d65 ex and ill be honest.. komatsu does produce a hell of a good dozer. pretty much a coin toss in performance and quality between cat and komatsu
+Nick Yates D65 has 3 gears just like the Cat. The Cat splits gears by lowering engine RPM, but when you hit a full load cat engine goes back up to maximum speed. Running the transmission on a D65 in Manual shift mode will usually make it operate most similar to a Cat (like here)
Am a cat man every day but it's a straight blade vrs a 6way blade an unfair fight 6 way blade is a finishing blade not the best for stripping plus operator has alot to do with it!!!
Your comparing the Komatsu to the Cat, the Cat is by far the better dozer, I've got thousands of hours in both, 42 years of running heavy equipment. So your talking bout the under carriage being quieter than the Cat, let that Komatsu get the hours that the Cat has on it and it will sound the same way
Hmm !! CAT for years but running Komatsu now but CAT Looks inherently Correct !! Got cheesed of with some stuff from Cat like curved excavator windscreens at £375.00 Sterling every Pop !!! and the fricking windscreen wiper that pops on the inside of the windscreen and fouls the windscreen when you bring it down at the end of a shift and shatters the frickin windscreen !!! SO potentially, if you had a different Op every day who didnt know to watch out for the fouling wiper blade then youre looking at potentially £1,875 .00 everyu 5 days for new windscreens !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. JUST FIT FLAT WINDSCREENS PLEASE Cat at £50.00 a pop Sterling

Had the new 65i on demo. Pushed really well especially with the blade tilted back but gear box let it down with not enough range selection.

swap over operators and the komatsu wins. not ever much in the machines, all about the operator
d65 not helping himself but way more on the blade

timmy frierson More like comparing hi drive to conventional. All Cats high drive undercarriages are noisier than the conventional. Even Cat to Cat.

Your comparing a NEW Komatsu to a Cat that's two maybe three years old! Go Cat!
Komatsu is a good macheine but at the end of a 12 hr day! it fails to compare to yards moved to a CAT! period!
That's because Komatsu moves cubic metres.
